Questions about Harney & Sons Earl Grey Supreme, 4 oz Loose Leaf Tea w/ Silver Tips and Bergamont Oil
Q:
how much tea per cup?
Answer: The usual for black tea, 1 tsp per 8oz cup of tea.
Answer: I use two teaspoons per cup. I like it strong.
Answer: I use one rounded silverware type teaspoon per cup.
Answer: Experiment. Start with one teaspoon and adjust to suit your taste.
Answer: I use about two teaspoons and steep for 5 minutes. I like it strong.
Q:
What are the measurements of the tin the tea is in?
Answer: 4 oz tin is 2 5/8" X 2 5/8" X 3 3/4" This is great tea.
Answer: 2.75 inch sq. / 3.75 tall
Answer: 2.75 inches each side (square with rounded corners) 3.75" tall. I use my empty container as a pencil cup.
Answer: Four inches from top to bottom and 2 1/2 inches across.
Answer: 3" X 3" X 4" tall
Q:
Is this the silver tip included? The latest product package says 'with silver tips.' But this tin doesn't say that. Which is right?
Answer: Either you ordered or somebody shipped to you the regular Earl Grey. This one is "supreme" and should contain a little Ceylon "silver tips" tea.
Q:
Is this the silver tip included? The latest product package says 'with silver tips.' But this tin doesn't say that. What's right?
Answer: Earl Grey Supreme always include silver tip. I just get me couple months ago still has.
Q:
are you supposed to grind the tea before brewing?
Answer: Not this Earl Grey tea. Just spoon out the amount you need into your tea infuser and steep for 3-5 minutes. Grinding Matcha tea (a specially grown green tea) is popular, but not necessary with this tea.
Answer: No...you let the loose tea leaves soak in the hot water to get the desired flavor.
Answer: No ! Just let it steep !
Q:
Where are the tea leaves from?
Answer: No idea and I doubt anyone can tell you that accurately or honestly. USA laws state if it says for instance made in Italy you can say that if the tin was made there etc.
Q:
How many cups of tea are in this?
Answer: I like strong tea so I just 3-3.5g per cup, about 30-35 cup for this tin
Answer: This size tin makes 30-40 cups of tea
Answer: 30-40 cups
Q:
What is the difference between the earl grey supreme and their earl grey?
Answer: Bolder bigger flavor and almost a little more creamier taste. It's spoiled us we prefer over regular earl grey
Answer: The "supreme" has the addition of some subtle Ceylon silver tip tea, which is visible in the mixture, and a more subdued use of Bergamot.
Q:
Is this "better” than regular Earl Grey? Is the bergamot stronger?
Answer: This is one of the premium Earl Grey Teas , the Bergamot is not stronger.
Answer: In fact, it's better. Due to the added Ceylon tee, the black tea taste is less bold that makes the bergamot (I believe, the same amount as that in regular EG) more "pronounced" but very delicate way. In other words, it's a very fine tea. But if you would like the stronger taste and smell of the bergamot, probably this is not your cup of tea.
Answer: YES!!!! This is a very elegant tea and rich in flavor. The bergamot is stronger, and I love the fragrance when I open the tin. It is exquisite with milk and sugar.
Answer: This is an excellent quality Earl Grey Tea with a lot of flavor. Highly recommended.
Answer: Yes, it is more flavorful - a fuller, more robust bergamot.
Answer: It is a bit stronger. The aroma emanating from the tin is wonderful. The tea is rich in flavor.
Answer: Yes, I like this better then regular but I will go to their web site is cheaper.
Q:
Is this caffeine free?
Answer: no, i don't think so... as myself drink it everyday, it does give me a "hit" when i need something to wake up. although it's not "caffeine free", yet it's still my favorite tea! cheers, kf.
Answer: No. it is not caffeine free. Black tea has caffeine as does green tea.
Answer: No. It has caffeine, as do all natural teas. Some real teas are processed to remove the caffiene.
Answer: No. Tea contains caffeine, and this is not decaffeinated.
Answer: a delicious tea that does have caffeine
Answer: Earl Grey Tea is from the Black Tea family and, yes, it contains caffeine. BTW: This brand of Earl Grey is the best I've ever tasted.
Answer: No, it contains caffeine.
Answer: no
Answer: No
Answer: No it isn't.
Product reviews of Harney & Sons Earl Grey Supreme, 4 oz Loose Leaf Tea w/ Silver Tips and Bergamont Oil
Kindle Customer : Love This Tea!!!
This Earl Grey Supreme tea has a slightly richer flavor than regular Earl Grey. Not too strong, especially good for afternoon.
Scott Clark : Quality, consistent success
Earl Grey Surpreme is a wonderfully smooth evening tea. I like the addition of "silver tips" to the standard Earl Grey, making this an above standard tea. Worth the extra cost. Thank you Harney&Sons.
angieGreenGood : This is a beautiful tea.
I LOVE this. This is a beautiful tea. I have it almost every morning in my bone China tea cups.
Booknut : Wonderful yummy tea!
Excellent balance of bergamot flavour and black tea. Exactly what I wanted. It's hard to find loose tea anymore, and I prefer it above bagged tea for several reasons.
Reaper : It is superior
Wasn't sure what the difference between this and regular earl grey was at first, this has a sweet after taste which I very much enjoy
Narn : My favorite earl grey
I do think of myself as kind of a tea snob. My favorite kinds of tea change quite often, but earl grey remains a faithful favorite. This earl grey supreme has been my favorite earl grey blend since I first tried it. Not too creamy tasting like other mixes, this blend is smooth but still bold tasting. Great with a little milk and sugar. Also great for those trying to make tea lattes.
Theresa Zittritsch : A darn good tea
I'm no expert, but this certainly tastes better than the tea bag stuff I get at the grocery store and it has some interest.
Amazon Customer : very flavorful
live it
adra trout : I won't waste my money on the supreme again.
I gave a 4 star cos the supreme turned out to taste little better if not as strong as the regular Harney and Son earl grey, and at a heftier price. So next time I'll buy the regular, as before. I much prefer the regular, as it has a stronger oil of bergamot flavor, which I love. But, that's just one person's opinion. I think Harney's is better than twinning's too, and most argue with me on that! But I do!!!! It's all just a matter of personal preference. I won't waste my money on the supreme again.
klindner : Love this!
Flavor and clarity is positively divine. Just ordered one lb. plus another kind of tea which also tastes just heavenly!
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
Taste great wish it was a bigger container
Stephanie : Early Grey Black Tea
..... I stop drink coffee a year and a half ago and started drinking this tea.... saved my life !!!
Bjd : Great as Iced Tea
Good flavor
Kindle Customer : Love This Tea!!!
This Earl Grey Supreme tea has a slightly richer flavor than regular Earl Grey. Not too strong, especially good for afternoon.
NAF : Earl Grey Supreme
In general, Earl Grey tea flavor bounces all over the charts, and everyone has their favorites. This particular tea is not strong on the orange flavor. But the tea is very good for a general tea, and is not overly strong if you steep it too long. I sometimes mix it with others that are a little too strong in the orange category.
Monica E. Lea : Fabulous Tea!
This tea is amazing! I am a huge coffee nerd, and this has just about converted me completely to a tea drinker.
Don Lj Campbell : as good as it gets...
One of the great Earl Grey teas...as simple as that...I've had one or two others that are as good, none better.
when you get it right, not much else to say
klindner : Love this!
Flavor and clarity is positively divine. Just ordered one lb. plus another kind of tea which also tastes just heavenly!
Rob : Five Stars
Darn good tea
Amazon Customer : The quality of this Earl Grey is very high
As a drinker of earl grey for 40 years, I can say hands down that the quality of this particular Earl Grey leaf is very high. I have been drinking this tea for several years now and whenever I travel and am at a hotel or elsewhere I find myself comparing that Earl Grey to this. The Bergamon adds significantly to the flavor which is light and savory. (I always have my tea with milk).
The Upman : Aftertaste...
There is an odd aftertaste of the black tea used in the Harney & Sons Earl Grey Supreme Tea. The Bergamot flavor is lovely, but the black tea tastes "off" to me. I know this is subjective to "my tastes". I have tried the Twinings and found the bergamot flavoring to be more lemony than anything else. The Taylor's of Harrogate Earl Grey has an exquisite bergamot flavor, but the black tea is very weak. Alas! I will continue my quest to find the perfect Earl Grey tea that has a good marriage between the black tea and the bergamot flavor. I am afraid though, that this tea is not it.
The Upman
Deborah KIM : Very good quality tea
I think best tea ever.
I love it.
Flavor and warmth great.
Value also goos.
Tylor : Five Stars
One of my favorite Earl Grey teas especially for the price!
awooo33 : Five Stars
Very good tea
Nicole : Husband says....oh yeah, it's good!!
I bought this for my husband because he loves tea & especially Earl Grey. I read the reviews & went for it. He absolutely loves this & we will be buying more very soon!!!!
Elite : Lacks flavor. I've had better.
Lacks flavor. I've had better.
J. Lucas : Yummy
This is my favorite earl gray. Perfect balance of black tea and bergamot. The tin can also be pretty useful when you've finished it.
nolaiswonderful : Excellent brand and blending of Earl Grey
This is one of the best Earl Grey teas I've ever brewed. It has a smooth caramel taste that appears just after you breath its delightful scent.
S. Fondaw : Awesome Tea!!!
My favorite tea! Best Earl Grey I've ever had!
Ken Kubo : Four Stars
I like it
Moderate consumer of convenient and practical products : Good tea but teabag version has superior taste
The tea is a nice Earl grey. I was driven to buy a tin after being handed an early grey supreme made by harney and sons but from a tea bag. The taste I'd gotten from the bag was far superior to standard earl grey from companies like twinnings and celestial. From this loose leaf tea, however, I did not get quite the same exceptional taste. Still a fine quality Earl grey tea, superior to any average Earl grey, but not the best out there even for the money.
B. : Great EG flavor
Good strong flavor. Great tea but would like more than 4oz per 10 bucks. But maybe I will find that is the best deal I will get. Cannot find a lot of good loose tea and this has a real nice Earl Grey flavor. If you like Tazo or Bigelow you will dig this.
S. Pitts : Five Stars
Excellent quality, fast shipping.
Lauren Churchill : AMAZING! I love this brand
AMAZING! I love this brand. Although, if you the bergamont flavor of Earl Grey stick with their original Earl Grey. The supreme has a more 'Lady Grey's flavor... With lavender.
cththu : Good Tea
One of my favorite Earl Greys.
Jon : Great Earl Grey Tea!
Outstanding Earl Grey tea. The standard just about that all should go by. The fragrance is unreal. You will not regret this buy.
Stefphanni : The best tea comes at a price
Supreme. Pricey, but truly the best Earl Grey. Hands down.
CLAUDE H BARRON JR : Four Stars
Excellent
Monica E. Lea : Fabulous Tea!
This tea is amazing! I am a huge coffee nerd, and this has just about converted me completely to a tea drinker.
K. Kevin Mccarthy : Five Stars
Tea Time is now all the time
Billy Vito : Five Stars
Not just my favorite EG but my all-time favorite tea.
MoneyPenny : Three Stars
Bergamot flavor is not that intense. Perhaps the stock is old at Amazon
Running Man : Going to buy more
Good and strong taste. Not flowery like some others.
Booknut : Wonderful yummy tea!
Excellent balance of bergamot flavour and black tea. Exactly what I wanted. It's hard to find loose tea anymore, and I prefer it above bagged tea for several reasons.

Stan : It is a good tea. 4 stars because it is not exceptional
It is a good tea. 4 stars because it is not exceptional.
Those you wrote that 10$ for 4 ounce is expensive have never purchased a high-end tea.
A quality Chinese Oolong or Red tea (black tea is called red in China) costs *from* 20-25$ for 2 ounce.
Really good Chinese tea starts from 45$ for 2 ounce.
Earl Grey actually consists of Chinese keemun tea + Bergamot. I had better keemun tea that this one...
One thing I did not like is that the tea comes inside this tin box, directly in the tin box, i.e. it is not in a vacuum pack or at least sealed pack. It deserves minus one star.
Wyse : Man thats some good tea....
Right off the bat it smells great- a lot of 'bad' earl grey's smell way too much like bergamot; here you can smell a hint of it as well as the silver tip. The silver tip really comes off when the tea is hot and the taste is just wonderful. Recommend fully and I will def be a repeat customer!
