Questions about Barry's Tea Gold Blend - 80 Teabags - 250g - Expertly Blended in Ireland
Q:
2 questions: first, what is the big difference in the gold, irish breakfast, and classic? second, how well does the gold blend take sugar and milk?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I'm not sure where you're from Jordan, but I'm American and recently returned from a wonderful trip to Ireland. Their tea is very strong. I've found the Barry's Tea is very smooth - my favorite. The Irish Breakfast is a British copy - good but not real Irish Tea. IDK about milk or sugar in this tea as I drink mine black. Also I'm not sure what you mean by classic - like Tetley? If so, Irish tea is much stronger flavor.
Answer: Barry's gold I do believe is the stronger tea, I've had both and they are like them equally. Both pair very very nicely with milk and sugar.
Answer: I think the gold allows you to make a good strong cuppa if you want it
Answer: I’m a lifelong tea drinker, my mom said I would have it in my baby bottle. I don’t do fruity or exotic teas, just black tea. I’ve predominantly stuck with Lipton or Tetley, until my close friend recommended I try Barry’s. Now, try to imagine Barry’s Gold as “high test” gasoline, and the other Barry’s (caffeinated) as regular gasoline.
Answer: Hi. Although I sell this, I unfortunately cannot test it as I do not drink caffeine. Hopefully another tea sipper can help?
Q:
Is this the same tea that is sold in Ireland or is it poor quality tea for Americans?
Answer: Hi Raiyn388 Thank you for your query, we are an import company that imports Barrys Tea from the supplier directly in Ireland. We can assure you that this is not poor Quality tea packed for Americans. It is the same tea that is sold in Ireland that is sold to the American market.
Answer: Hi there, our Gold Blend tea is blended in Cork, Ireland and exported. This is the same tea that is sold in Ireland. If you are unhappy with the product, please can you send a few sample teabags to us for testing? They should be sent to Barry's Tea, Kinsale Road, Cork.T12 EV83, Ireland.
Answer: This tea was sent to me directly from Cork, Ireland. It a wonderful smooth flavor with a golden color tea . It is 100% black teas blended in Ireland / nothing else added. Company started in 1901! Over 20 years ago, It was recommended to me by an Irish tenor (singing at an Irish Festival) ordering the tea at a refreshment stand I was visiting. I have never liked a tea more than this. One tea bag makes 3 full cups of tea. BEST EVER!!
Answer: It is by far the best quality tea I've found sold online for a reasonable price in teabags. Yorkshire tea wasn't strong enough. If you are looking for good strong tea, this is it. Love it. Doesn't taste like flavored water like Lipton haha
Answer: My box always arrives with mailing origin from Ireland, why would any company make a poorer quality of any product for the American market ??????? Noel in LA
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Same tea, packaged in Ireland
Answer: It ships from Ireland, at least the Barry's that I bought. It is very good.
Answer: It ships from Ireland
Answer: I believe it's the REAL DEAL. I am fussy and discriminating and I love me a cup of Barry's.
Q:
Can someone explain the difference between Barry's Classic Blend and Barry's Irish Breakfast Tea?
Answer: I've tried all 3. To me the Classic is the most robust with the the most Assam . The Golden Blend is rich, bright with a more Kenyan taste. The lightest of the 3 is the Breakfast Blend. They are all goo and don't get bitter even when steeped for more than 5 minutes. I like the Classic the best for breakfast but will drink all 3.
Answer: We have not had the breakfast tea - just the classic. You might try looking at the ingredients list on both boxes or google the question.
Answer: i have had classic and the gold, gold is more malty and grassy, classic is what i guess i would call, bolder. gold is a classic assam taste, classic is between that and an earl grey, with a bergamot flavor.
Q:
What is the expiration date on the 3 pack?
Answer: I just checked mine, which was delivered in November, and it expires on 5/20/21.
Answer: Just checked- 7/29/21. It will be long gone by then.
Answer: mine, which will be different from yours, is 5/20/21
Q:
I ordered some of barry's tea, not sure how i am suppose to make it. can you help? would like it for ice tea.
Answer: Hi Rosella you make it with boiling water . As it is for ice tea I would make it in a jug pour boiling water over it leave bag in as long as you like depending on as strong as you like it. take it out and leave to cool and add ice
Answer: Make sure the water is boiling. Barry's Tea is very strong so I would only steep for 5 or 10 minutes. Then let cool and serve over ice.
Answer: Pour hot not boiling water over tea bags, steep for 3-5 minutes, then refrigerate if you want iced tea
Answer: If you put hot tea in the fridge it will get cloudy. Let it cool to room temp first.
Q:
Does the decaf or Irish Breakfast come in a loose leaf variety?
Answer: Hi there, our Decaf tea is only available in teabags at present. Our Irish Breakfast is the same blend as our Original Blend in the green box - its marketed as Irish Breakfast for the Export market, however the blend is the same as Original Blend. Our Original Blend is available in loose tea and you can purchase this from our Online Shop on the Barry's Tea website (barrystea.ie). Thanks
Q:
Are these individually wrapped?
Answer: No, but I've tried a few other brands of individually wrapped "Irish breakfast tea", and none of them seem as good. This is especially good with some honey & cream (half & half).
Answer: Hi JT, thank you for your query. No these teabags aren't individually wrapped. Kind regards, Trish.
Answer: No they come two bags attached and not individually wapped'. One box 80 bags sold delicious tea.
Answer: No the box is wrapped in cellophane but the individual bags are not
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No
Answer: there are 80 bags in the box, but they are not individually wrapped.
Answer: No these Barry's Gold Tea bags are not individually wrapped.
Answer: Hi JT , No these teabags aren't individually wrapped.
Answer: No. 2 tea bags are attached with a perforation and easily separated. All the tea bags are piled neatly in box.
Answer: No, just regular tea bags but larger and definitely more full bodied. You can get two to three cups out of every bag
Answer: No they're not However I've found that the tea stays fresh
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does a Pack of 3 mean 3 boxes..?
Answer: Yes this listing is for 3 boxes, each box contains 80 tea bags.
Answer: It has always meant 3 boxes ,when I have ordered !
Answer: Yes. We ended up with a lot of boxes. But, then, we drink a lot of tea and tea keeps really well.
Answer: Yes. You get three boxes of tea bags. Lots of tea. Lots of tea. Lots of tea.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
what is the sell-by date?
Answer: Mine says "Best before end 12 2015. But does tea ever go bad?
Answer: On the box I currently have, it is 07/16
Q:
What are the expiration date(s) for this six box lot of teas? Thank you. :D
Answer: Hi there, the current best before dates on this product is 06:2017. thanks
Answer: 2017. It's good. I have been a Lipton user for years, and they sell dust :( The taste is so bland in Lipton. I think you will love it! It's tea the old fashioned way! I'm glad I found here. Many stores don't carry it.
Answer: That's the question you should ask when buying . The purveyor is the only one who can answer this. The way the tea is wrapped, I have never had any tea "expire".
Answer: 06/2017
Q:
Where is the tea packaged?
Answer: Barry's Tea; Kinsale Road; Cork, Ireland. Please remember the Best Buy date is in Irish date format Day/Month/Year.
Q:
is this a green tea?
Answer: No, it is a black tea.
Answer: No this is not it is just a breakfast blend. Thank you
Answer: Nu
Answer: no
Q:
Why did I only received 1 box of of a pack of 3..for 25.00 i got ripped off?
Q:
Has anyone had a problem with the Decaffeinated one being too bitter? It has a very bitter aftertaste to me.
Answer: I did not find it to be bitter. I think it’s the best decaf tea out there
Answer: I’ve never tried or want the decaffeinated one!
Answer: Sometimes I find it a little bitter but it’s usually if I let it steep too long. Generally speaking I really like this tea and have bought it many times
Answer: This tea is stronger than we are used to. I make iced tea with Barry's. It takes 6-8 bags of Red Rose decaf and only 2 bags of Barry's for a gallon. Try using a bag for a pot or multiple cups to make a milder tea.
Answer: No, I've never had that experience. Do you add milk and sugar? Its how the Irish drink it. Sometimes when we are sick, or getting sick our taste bugs change and foods, or drinks can taste different while we are sick.
Answer: Sorry, haven't used it.
Q:
When do you expect to have the 500 count box back in stock?
Q:
I am confused on the difference between the various blends such as Irish Breakfast, Gold Blend and Classic Blend. Can someone explain the difference?
Answer: I find both to be quite flavorful, but I think Barry's Classic is richer. I drink Barry's with milk. I've only had one box of Barry's Irish Breakfast and that was years ago,so I cannot really comment on it. My answer differs from others, so perhaps individual taste counts for a lot.
Answer: I only buy the loose teas. To me the Irish blend is heavy bodied and a little bitter, the classic is much like Lipton and the gold is a richer full bodied flavor without the bitterness. If it steeps for 4 minutes it is the perfect tea. I have tried many brands of golden, some very expensive and I always come back to Barry's.
Q:
6pk of Barry's tea? don't see
Answer: not sure if I understand your question. But it is a great tea.
Answer: The one I purchased was 72 bags for $6 - $7.
Q:
Of the 3 : classic, irish breakfast, gold blends, which seems to be the most robust?
Answer: I have only had the Irish Breakfast Gold Blend in the U.S. It is very "Robust" with a smoother flavor. The others I had in Ireland and were also a good strong Irish Breakfast, but don't know if what I had there, is what makes it here. I would go with the Gold.
Q:
What process is used to take out caffeine?
Answer: Not sure but it taste good
Q:
Is the master blend exactly like the classic blend but with a different name or was the blending changed on the master blend?
Answer: Hi,
Answer: I is the same. I visited the company website a while back and it had the whole story. Great robust taste!
Answer: Yes. Love the stuff.
Q:
What is the expiration date(s) for this lot of sixpack teas? Thank you.
Answer: i Do not know. I did not like the quality of these six-pack. If you love Barry' tea look elsewhere or ask about their refund policy. They did NOT give the refund and I threw out the tea due to the poor quality!
Answer: 06-2017
Q:
Is this naturally decaffeinated with either a c02 or swiss water process… or any other?
Answer: I’ve read the box & it doesn’t give that information. So I don’t know.
Q:
What is the best before date on this tea?
Answer: I just received 2 boxes 2 weeks ago and both are dated "Best Before 15/06/20" giving me almost 2 years to drink my tea. I hope this helps!
Answer: a bit over one year, can't beat this deal. right from Ireland to your door & free shipping...………………..Love Barry's Tea!
Q:
Why did I only received 1 box of of a pack of 3..for 25.00 i got ripped off.
Q:
Are teabags individually wrapped? (We want to put them in gift baskets.)
Answer: No, the tea bags are not individually wrapped. They are delivered as pairs of tea bags easily separated. The 80 tea bags are in a box with cellophane wrap sealed around the box.
Answer: Tea bags are not individually wrapped nor do they have strings and tags
Answer: Not individually wrapped
Answer: No. Mine were not.
Answer: They are not.
Answer: No.
Q:
can you please tell me how many teabags are in the box
Answer: Hi there are 40 teabags in the 125g box. Thanks
Answer: there are 40 tea bags in this box
Answer: There should be 40 bags in the box. Thank you for your interest.
Answer: Well...the pictures says 125g, 40 tea bags. We purchased a 250g, 80 tea bag Barry's Tea Gold Blend. I think our tastes have now gone back to Barry's original and Canadian Red Rose Orange Pekoe. Good Luck.
Answer: I THINK ITS 40. SHOULD BE ON THE BOX IF U LOOK CLOSELY.
Answer: Hi, Thank you for your interest in our Barry's Irish Tea. This package has 40 tea bags in it.
Q:
What does 80 count pack of 3 or 6 mean?
Answer: Each box has 80 tea bags in it, whether you buy a 3 pkg or a 6 pkg. In a 3 pkg you get a total of 240 tea bags and in a 6 pkg you get a total of 480 tea bags. Hope this helps.
Answer: A pack of 6 individual boxes contains 80 tea bags in each box, bringing the total tea bag count to 480 tea bags. It's very satisfying tea and the only tea we drink. Homemade Irish bread and Barry's tea are a favorite at our house.
Answer: I believe it means there are 3 or 6 packs with 80 bags of tea in each pack.
Answer: It means you can get a shrinkwrapped pack of three boxes of 80 tea bags, or 6 boxes.
Q:
how strong rich and deep a flavor?
Answer: We have drank Barry’s Tea since our 2002 trip to Ireland and love it. Nice thing is you can determine the strength by how much water you add. Using our coffee pot markings, we use 4 cups water to 1 tea bag. Again, you can determine how strong you want it!
Answer: Excellent! I love strong tea and this certainly is it.
Answer: It find it to have a very rich tea flavor, but not overly tannin-ey (unless you let it steep too long). I prefer this Gold Blend to the Irish Breakfast Tea, which is a bit more bitter, at least for my taste. Barry's has been my daily go-to tea for many years, I've tried many other teas and always go back to this brand. They also make a nice decaf version.
Answer: It is a deep tea if left to steep for 5min, I prefer using a tea pot too.
Answer: I love this tea... It is very strong and not for anyone who likes weak tea. The 3 pack ships directly from Ireland and takes a bit longer to arrive.
Answer: It is more of a lighter color and flavor than the traditional Barry's Tea. It's is very smooth yet flavorful. I really like it
Answer: Very good, if you don't like your tea too strong one bag makes a 6 cup pot.
Answer: The longer it steeps the stronger it gets. Yes bold -rich as you want it, excellent taste.
Answer: This is a good basic Irish tea, and I have noticed a stronger caffeine than PH Tips. I use 3
Answer: Excellent REAL tea, not like the watered down American teas
Q:
What is a "2 cup" tea bag?
Answer: Thank you for your interest in our Barry's brand of Irish Tea. A 2 cup tea bag means you can use 1 tea bag to brew two cups of tea.
Answer: Sorry, I only get the loose tea, but it's possible that based on my experience of the "strength" of the tea, that they mean it's possible to get 2 cups of acceptable tea from one tea bag. If your making ice tea and like the restaurant quality of ice tea you can probably get at least 4 glasses. I like mine strong with body so 2 at most.
Answer: A two-cup tea bag is good for making two cups of tea. Unless you are Irish. Then, it makes one very strong cup of tea.
Answer: Barry's is the BEST--and one tea bag is certainly potent enough for two cups of tea...but if you like your tea really strong, as I do, just throw a bag in a good sized mug (12+ ounces), add boiling water, cover with a saucer or whatever, and wait 4-5 minutes. Tea aficionados will use a heated tea pot, which of course is best, but the mug method works as long as the water is bubbling hard.
Answer: Use for a second cup? We use this tea for delicious iced tea.
Q:
individually wrapped?
Answer: Hi, no these are not individually wrapped. The only individually wrapped teabags we have are our Gold Blend String, Tag & Envelope 200s - they are available from http://barrysteashop.ie/collections/signature-teabags/products/barry-s-gold-tea-blend-string-tag-envelope-200-teabags
Answer: First let me tell you that there is no better tea than "Barry's". Strong... NEVER bitter. It's amazing.
Answer: Tea bags are made in attached pairs, perfect for a teapot. They are stacked loose in the box. They are not wrapped at all.
Answer: Hi. These are not individually wrapped. Many thanks. Jo
Answer: Dear customer. They are not individually wrapped.
Answer: Hi Christa, Sorry no these are now individually wrapped
Answer: they are tea bags but not individually wrapped.
Answer: The plastic-wrapped box is filled with loose sachets. Think Lipton without the tag. I keep them in a flip-top airtight container. I go through a box like this very fast between my morning hot beverage and iced tea (3 bags in a hal-gallon container in the sun for 17 minutes).
Answer: No, all the tea bags are within the box loosely. Not individually wrapped.
Answer: No, the teabags are not individually wrapped. I store them in an airtight container.
Q:
ordered 80 count, received 40 - how do I get correct item?
Q:
GMO free?
Answer: The package does not say GMO free, but because it's from Ireland and they are not allowed to sell GMO products I'm guessing it's safe to say it's GMO free.
Answer: Hi Yes I have checked the Ingredients on the box and it doesn't say it contains GMO .
Answer: It doesn't say on the box. It is an Irish tea. You can contact them: www.barrystea.ie and ask.
Answer: HI. Yes, you are correct. Jo
Q:
Does This Contain Caffeine?
Answer: Hi, Thank you for your interest in our Barry's Tea. In general, black tea contains 40-65 mg/serving using a serving size of 1 tea bag in 7oz of water. Caffeine occurs naturally in tea and the amount of caffeine can in tea can vary due to varying environmental conditions. Please note: The longer the steep time, the stronger the caffeine levels will be.
Answer: Yes this product does contain approx 4-5% caffeine. Thanks
Answer: Yes this product does contain approx 4-5% caffeine. Thanks
Answer: Yes, black tea always contains caffeine, even decaf contains a little. Unless tea states naturally decaffeinated, which would mostly be, if not always be herbal tea, it will have caffeine. However, if you can handle caffeine Barry's tea has a good robust flavor. They do make decaf tea also, but like I wrote, it may still contain some caffeine.
Answer: I am pretty sure it does. I get the Gold Blend and it has caffeine. The speciality stores have it in decaf.
Answer: Yes, this is caffeinated tea. To me, maybe a little stronger than PG Tips
Answer: Yes this has caffeine; but they also sell decaf tea. The box is blue. And it tastes just as delicious.
Answer: Yes, Barry's tea in the green box contains caffeine. Barry's decaf tea in the blue box does not.
Answer: yes this green version carries the most caffeine of any of barry's teas. I tried the caffeine free (the black box) and it is tasteless. You are better of with Lipton decaf.
Answer: Since it doesn’t say decaf, you can bet it has caffeine! They do have a decaf variety.
Q:
How do you contact sellers???
Q:
I am considering ordering the decaf, how can I tell what the "best by date" will be? This is important as I will order 480 tea bags.
Answer: My "use by date" was at least a year out so no problem for me. I'm not sure how much tea you drink or what your box will say.
Answer: The current expiration date is June 2017.
Answer: Because it is dried, most tea has a long shelf life. Exposure to air is what breaks down a food product so if you leave the boxes unwrapped it will preserve it even more.
Answer: The best by date is stamped on the front of the box.
Q:
Label does not say organic? I was told this is organic?
Answer: In my experience if the label doesn't say organic, then it probably isn't.
Answer: I have never heard that Barry's tea is organic but, regardless, it makes a very good cup of tea.
Q:
What are the tea bags made of? The fabric holding the tea. What is it made of?
Answer: Its the basic paper tea bag, like tetley. There is no string, staple or tag.
Answer: Feels like paper; not a fabric like silk
Answer: Don’t know for sure. My guess would be some kind of paper.
Q:
What is the number of teabags per box? This is advertised as classic blend, 80 tea bags (pack of 6). Also what is their expiration date? Thanks.
Answer: There are 80 teabags per box and it is a pack of 6 boxes. The expiry date is usually 18 months from the date of production.
Answer: There are 80 bags per box. I have my tea for a few months now. The expiration date is 06/2017. I truly enjoy my Barry's tea each day. Strong enough to use for 3-4 cups per bag.
Answer: I purchased Barry's Loose Tea, so I do not have the answer for you. Loose tea is better, btw! Cheers
Q:
Can it be made for ice tea?
Answer: I can't think why not. Can be made for iced tea
Answer: Hi there, yes you can make Iced Tea from our Gold Blend tea - see our website for recipe http://www.barrystea.ie/tea-talk/delicious-tea-inspired-recipes
Answer: I don't see why it couldn't be used for ice tea as well. Just be aware that there are no strings on the bags like a lot of teas. It's just the bag.
Answer: yes. you make hot tea and then refrigerate it. If you add ice cubes, it will dilute the strength of the tea flavor.
Answer: I tried the gold tea and it was the worst tea I had ever tried. I can't imagine it iced.
Answer: Oh yes it makes wonderful ice tea
Answer: Certainly. It will be stronger, better color and more delicious
Answer: I'm sure it could. I have never used it that way.
Answer: Yes
Q:
How many bags are in the golden blend you are advertising for$6.52
Answer: 80 per box, so 160 total if your purchase order shows 2 boxes
Q:
What is the approximate amount of caffeine per tea bag?
Answer: Hi Lee, Cup of black tea............................................. 70mg
Q:
Best tea ever. i've purchased this 15x, always for ~$6.50. suddenly its $9+ & prime!! why the huge $$ leap? trade tariffs? amazon profits?
Answer: Thank you for your note. The price on Amazon.com includes shipping so it can happen that shipping rates can change from time to time. Unfortunately, buying the single box has been the worst affected by recent changes. Given I am not sure how frequent you purchase Barry’s Tea it could be an idea to buy 3 boxes at a time. Currently the price for 3 is $20. This is made possible by optimising the weight in the package. I hope this make sense and is a suitable solution for you.
Q:
Are these tea bags individually wrapped?
Answer: Yes, these are 80 individual bags. They don't come with a string. They come two attached to each other with a perforation down the middle so you can separate them. Hope this helps.
Answer: They are not individually wrapped and come with two bags connected together that can be easily separated.
Answer: No. But excellent flavor and great buy.
Answer: No, Ma'em. They are laid out side to side in the box. Doesn't seem to affect their freshness.
Q:
what shape are the tea bags--round or rectangular?
Answer: Hi, Thank you for your interest in our Barry's brand of Tea bags. The shape is rectangular.
Answer: Tea bags are rectangular in shape.
Answer: They are rectangular. They come in a box. Each pair of bags is connected together and have to be separated. They are not individually wrapped. I put the box in a gallon zip lock to keep them fresher, although I'm not sure that's an issue. Barry's decaf is my favorite.
Answer: Haven’t yet received my box of the decaf, but the regular tea has rectangular bags.
Answer: Each bag is 2in by 3in. There is no string attached.
Answer: They are rectangular/more square.
Answer: They’re rectangular and delish. Hard to tell they’re decaf.
Answer: rectangular
Answer: Rectangular
Answer: They are square shaped
Q:
Are these teabags round or square?
Answer: Hi,
Answer: Square. I can get 2 cups out of one bag. Good tea.
Answer: Square but the quality of tea is top
Answer: These are square tea bags this is a very good tea
Answer: They are squares of pure liquid gold
Answer: The tea bag is square of the gold blend. ( the Red box)I don’t have the Irish breakfast bags.
Answer: They are square.
Answer: Square
Answer: Square.
Answer: square
Q:
What is the taste difference in barry's gold blend and barry's classic blend? is one more like an english breakfast taste?
Answer: I think that the Classic blend is more of an English tea taste and the Gold Blend is a stronger dark tea - very bold flavor - Delicious!!
Answer: I've only had the gold blend & it is a strong great tasting tea. My favorite!
Answer: Honestly,to me it's taste like Lipton tea, even worse, has cheap paper bag,I gave it to my work people, they don't care what kind of tea to drink
Q:
Is it 50 tea bags?
Answer: I have the Irish Blend 80 tea bags per box.
Q:
How do you contact sellers. I only received 1 box of the pack of 3.i paid 25.00 dollars for this.??. its going straight back.
Q:
How long would it take to ship to Washington State?
Product reviews of Barry's Tea Gold Blend - 80 Teabags - 250g - Expertly Blended in Ireland
s darlene satterfield : grand children and great grand children
After being introduced to Barry's Tea by an Irish friend in 1992 my entire family will not use any other tea and we are a very large family 92 total children, grand children and great grand children. No other tea compares just try it one time and you will know what real tea should taste like. I have 6 grown children and they always request this if we ask "what do you want for your birthday?" So an order of 6 or so is the best gift ever we know they get a gift they love and it will be used. Thank you, Barry's Tea great product and thanks for making this available on Amazon we had to have this shipped from a distributor in England for many years.
R. DOWDALL : Love this tea
Couldn't get the Irish Breakfast tea I usually buy and ordered this instead. I think it's maybe my new favorite.
Theresa Lamb : Barry’s Tea - decline in taste. ????
Taste change = poor taste
What happened to Barry’s tea? We’ve bought the tea for about 20 years, always high quality & taste. This has changed. Blah tea, tried 2 bags per cup to improve it, still poor results.
Saddens us. Will just drink other teas we like, such as Taylor’s of Harrogate.
Not completely closing the door to Barry’s Tea, but they need to work on regaining the full flavor it once had.
Ja9 : Given as gift
This was a gift. She loves Berrys Tea and just went to decaffeinated, so got this for her.
Richard T. Jameson : An old reliable, still tops
I hadn’t bought Barry’s Gold in several years, chiefly because the Galway Trader in Ballard where we used to get it was razed to make way for new construction. Running across the tea on Amazon, and noticing its appealing price, I ordered it — and am deeply satisfied. Barry’s Gold has a bright, strong flavor, perfect for afternoon and evening sipping. It’s one of my regulars again.
Toni G. : This is not the same as the 40-count package I purchased
i think this product may be different. I ordered a 6 pack of the 40 count boxes and it was what I had been buying in stores. I ordered this 6 pack of 80 count and I swear it's different--not as strong. I *think* there may be less tea in each bag. I even wrote to Barry's Tea to ask if they have different products with similar labels. Everything I bought says "Irish Breakfast" but the smaller box says "brisk refreshing blend" and this box says "our lightest and most refreshing signature blend". It's possible my taste buds betray me but I drink a lot of tea and I like Barry's for the strength. I really think this is weaker/lighter.
Asuka : Quality control may be a problem
I enjoyed the first few bags of this and then suddenly a few layers in, I got bag after bag of disgusting flavor. Trust me, I thought I was the problem, I tried water from different sources and re-washed my mugs thinking maybe they had some soap in them or something, but then about 8 bags of horrible tea later the taste was back to normal. I was really disappointed by that and I've shied away from Barry's. Lately I've stuck with Taylors of Harrogate for my bagged tea needs (I usually do loose leaf at home and the bags at the office). I'm worried about buying this product again and getting the same result. :(
Adam : Believe the reviews
I was skeptical. How can a product have so many damn 5-star reviews? All I can say is: believe us. This tea is fantastic. As soon as you open the box, you're going to smirk, as the wonderful aroma hits your nostrils. Pouring in the water, the tea splashes a dark reddish brown, and the same aroma hits you again. A fantastic cup of tea was enjoyed tonight. I would drink 10 more if the caffeine weren't an issue. Please, please, please, order this if you enjoy tea daily.
Imad S. : Good flavor at first
Good flavor at first, but after a few weeks I couldn't taste much at all.Still better than PG Tips decaf.
Lynn Derting : No insomnia
I drink Barry's Irish Breakfast tea in the mornings and then switch to the decaf in the evening. Doesn't interfere with sleep.
MBR : Delicious, strong tea
Having a cup as I type this review - delicious, malty, and strong tea! I don't add milk or sugar, just enjoy as is steeped for three minutes. A nice rotating edition to my usual green tea.
(Note: if you have a caffeine sensitivity, this blend might be too strong.)
Suze K : Best Decaf Tea
I have been buying this tea for years. It is a nice, strong decaf tea that tastes like regular tea. I enjoy it in the evening when I want a great cup of tea that will not keep we awake half the night.
Katrin : WhatsTheDifference?
I really wanted to know the difference between the Classic, Golden and Breakfast teas so I bought all 3 and then taste tested. Classic is the richest with that malty Assam taste. Golden is 2nd richest and tastes lighter and brighter, more Kenyan than Assam. Breakfast is the lightest of the three. All 3 are good teas but I prefer the Classic , in the morning, as it is the most robust of the 3. The others would make lovely afternoon teas. Hope this helps.
K ford : My all time favorite comforting tea
I am American, and though only my ancestors were Irish, this is my favorite tea. My family has bought gold blend since I was a kid, and I grew up on it. I have gone through countless boxes, at least 3 or 4 in the past 2 years. I add cream and sugar, and it is a deliciously flavorful tea that puts English breakfast to shame. I find some of Barry's blends can be too strong, but gold is perfect. The irish know how to do a good strong breakfast tea, and I sometimes replace my morning coffee with it.
joan m : Great flavor without the caffeine. Best decaf tea I’ve ever had.
It’s a little pricey but I’ve tried others, this is the best decaf out there.
Chamberlin : Discovered this stuff motorcycling in Ireland
After a day motorcycling around the Ring of Kerry in Ireland, we stopped at a restaurant, soaking wet and chilled to the bone from the ever present rain. I had a cup of this very tea and I was sold forever. Granted, it was a situation like when you're starved and a soda cracker is a meal. I found this on Amazon when I got home to the US and enjoy it all the time. I haven't found anything like it in the US. Very good flavor. Highly recommend Barry's Breakfast tea as well.
PS: I know this sounds like something out of the J. Peterman catalog (from the Seinfeld Show) but this is really how I stumbled onto this tea! ;-) I'm reminded of that trip every time I make a cup.
Happy shopper : Smooth rich tea...anytime of day
We've been drinking Barry's for years after having it in Ireland. It is rich and smooth...a perfect morning tea. I can't buy it in stores where I live, so thank you for having it and delivering it quickly
rxdog97 : great tea
We did a trip to Ireland and this was one of the teas but in rooms for use. If you love tea recommend you try.
Peter Padro : An absolute must try!
Barry's Irish Tea, Gold Blend (The red box) is an absolute 5 star, must try for the serious tea drinker. As a traditional Continental tea it is much stronger, and better than the black teas typically available to us here in the states. One tea bag of Barry's is much heavier and aromatic than what you are probably used to. You can make two strong cups from a single bag. Pickwick Finest English is my hands down favorite, but Barry's Gold Blend is a close second and a must have essential to my stock of tea. If you are looking for a fine, heavy tea to get you started in the morning or to share a cozy Sunday morning with, give this traditional tea a try. Barry's is a nice alternative to morning coffee. Try it the English way with cream and sugar.
Constance F : Great Tea at a Great Value
If one really drinks a lot of tea and really like Irish Breakfast Tea, then this product is definitely worth your consideration. Great value and stays fresh long enough for you cup or pot a day people.
Amazon Customer : Did not receive what I paid for...
I paid for 80 but only received the small box of 40! Disappointed!
lynn : Barry's is the best
The only brick-and-mortar store where I can buy this tea is too far away now that I've moved. I'm so glad I can order just 3 boxes at a reasonable price. Once I tasted this tea, years ago, I never liked anything else.
Wee Betta Fish : Best affordable tea in the world.
Hands down the best affordable tea in the world. I usually start my day with it. Was served on an Aer Lingus flight and become obsessed. I never could drink Tetley, Lipton or Twinnings afterwards.
old man : Great tea
Arrived very fast. Packaged well. Always has great flavor. Have ordered many times before and will continue to do so. Definitely would recommend to everyone.
Amazon Customer : Addicting flavor
Great strong tea. I always thought that using a tea bag twice was just silly. A friend of mine that recommended Barry's Tea to me said the tea bags are good twice and they really are!!

Lizzie : Excellent decaf
This decaf tea was recommended by someone. I have never tried the regular version. I am trying to cut way back on caffeine, and this decaf does the trick perfectly. It is perhaps the best decaf black I have ever tasted. It's rich and very malty, just how I like my tea, and it's scrumptious with cream and sugar. Highly recommended!

GD1959 : Nothing like a nice hot cuppa tea!
This tea is so soothing and mellow. Wonderful flavor anytime to warm or relax one. Golden and rich flavor is extraordinarily smooth with no bitter taste. A perfect cup of tea!
Onesavvygal : Absolutely delicous tea!
There is always tea in our house 24/7. Through the years we have tried every brand in the grocery store. We stay consistent when we find one that we like. However, when we visited Ireland this past Christmas, we found this brand of tea at a local grocery store. This tea is so delicious! We absolutely loved the flavor! Not sure why, but the flavor is far above brands we buy here. I brought two boxes home on the plane with me. I was thrilled to find that I could order it so easily on Amazon! We will certainly keep this information handy for reorder!
Kindle Customer : Irish Staple
Married to an Irishman. He's easy going about almost everthing, with two notable exceptions. The first is his Guinness, which goes without further explanation. The second is his tea. He drinks about ten cups of tea a day. He won't drink Lipton or Tettley, and snubs anything I can buy in the grocery store. He will tolerate Lyons if there's no Barry's. Has to be the Barry's Gold Blend, too. Nice to order it online in bulk; it's less expensive, and it takes him a while to go through the case. To me, the tea is fine, I suppose, but I'm a coffee drinker anyway.
Machinist5 : Classic now know as Master Blend
I just received my order last night the outer box a little worse for wear. No problem, tea inside unharmed and with a April, 2022 date code. I made the first cup in a large mug with two bags because I like strong tea. I can see why this tea is so well liked, strong but not bitter, takes to milk and sugar well, decent caffeine buzz. Be patient when ordering because it takes a while, but was delivered on time. Thanks Seller!
Widdershins : This is the one!
I recently bought the decaf version of my favorite brand of English breakfast tea (which I will keep secret) only to find it had no flavor at all. Then I read a few Irish mystery books by Carlene O’Connor whose characters drink Barry's tea by the gallon! When I discovered the brand was not fictional and was available on Amazon, I decided to give it a try. I made my first cup last night. From now on, I'll use one bag for a small pot rather than for one cup! The tea is full of flavor! The bags do not come individually wrapped, so I popped them into an airtight container for storage. So thanks, Carlene, for introducing me to this lovely tea and for writing such fun stories! And thanks, Amazon, for stocking this brand at such a reasonable price!
Jenny : Bait and Switch
I ordered the 80 tea bag package, but I received the 40 tea bag package. I’m unable to return or complain anywhere.... ????
Skeleton builder : Best black tea I have ever had.
A bold black tea that has been my favorite since I first tried it 10 years ago. Consistent quality and taste for all that time. Absolutely love it. Not for weak tea drinkers unless you just put one bag in your teapot. If you like a lighter color or flavor the red box Barry’s or the decaf Barry’s would be better for you.

MM : Best Irish tea
Best Irish tea, my very picky husband may have lived over 20 yrs in the US but he loves his Irish tea with a bit of sugar and milk. I have developed a taste for Barry's tea too. If you're not in the mood for coffee as it can be harsh on the tummy but want a bit of energy and warmth, a cup of Barry's is truly comforting.
napa244 : Very good black tea!
This is a great tasting black tea. The tea steeps clear and has a very nice flavor. It was mentioned in a book “Murder in an Irish Churchyard” as being an excellent tea and the author is right. If you like a good tea without fruit or other flavors, this is for you!
Lynn Derting : No insomnia
I drink Barry's Irish Breakfast tea in the mornings and then switch to the decaf in the evening. Doesn't interfere with sleep.
Debra Mellecker : Extremely tasty black tea
My favorite black tea that's not loose leaf. One of Ireland's top selling teas. I drink it every day. Great with or without milk and sweetener. Has a beautiful light floral smell and taste.
Imad S. : Good flavor at first
Good flavor at first, but after a few weeks I couldn't taste much at all.Still better than PG Tips decaf.
Kindle Customer : I love this tea
I've been buying this tea for years now. I used to get it at my local grocery store, but they've stopped carrying it. I recently ran out of the Barry's tea and had to resort to Lipton. The Lipton just tastes awful. Luckily my Amazon order got here really fast and I was only out for a few days. I won't let that happen again!
Dylan : Really Strong Tea
Brit here, I don't drink American tea (Liptons) as it's so weak and I'm used to British English tea (TyPhoo, etc) but this is a lot stronger. Can't leave the bag in the cup for too long or it turns extremely dark brown and strong. Still, if you're quick the resultant tea is nice.
George Smith : Barry's Tea Can Do Better, As Can The Distributer
When this package arrived, the outside of the tea packaging looked very worn, like it had been sitting in a warehouse for a few years. As you would expect, the tea didn't have the flavor I have come to expect from Barry's. So, blame the distributor, not Barry's.
My Barry's order used to come directly from the factory on Kinsale Road in Cork but that option doesn't seem to exist any more. Tis the pity.
C. Garcia : My favorite tea!
I’ve been an avid Lipton drinker all my life. I finally found Barry’s tea, much more flavorful, and you get a stronger sleep. I order three boxes at a time, and will continue to re-order. If you like flavorful caffeinated tea, you should definitely try this
William K. Solberg : Berry’s Tea is a widespread favorite in Ireland
Berry's tea is a black tea that is served literally in almost every restaurant in Ireland. It comes in an eco-friendly package. I buy decaffeinated tea owing health considerations. It has a lusty flavor that tells Lipton and friends who is in charge.
D. Waddell : LOVE THIS TEA!!
I love Barrys tea. I drink both decaf and the regular. Barrys tea is smooth and always has me thinking 'mmmm' after my first sip.
Amazon Customer : The Best
If you’ve ever been to Ireland then you know about Barry’s tea. I have been drinking Barry’s for 40 years. Whenever I visited my aunts, I would bring an extra suitcase and fill it with boxes of Barry’s. That’s how much I love this tea. Some stores now have started carrying it in my area but when I saw this offer I couldn’t pass it up. It has a great strong flavor which no one matches. I don’t enjoy flavored tea so this is my main choice. Terrific dark tea. Once you go black, you will never go back. Go Barry’s!!!
