This used to be fine cut, perfect for a drip maker. The last bag I bought was loose cut. Is that a permanent change?
Answer: I've been drinking this tea for years and all of my purchases have been what I'd consider fine cut. They are not leaves/or stick like at all. I use a French press with a "FINE" screen or else a fine mesh insert when I travel (yes I'm nutty enough to bring my own loose tea on cruises). I've purchased several kilo bags in the last year and all have been consistently fine - perhaps you just got one that was "off". Hope this helps.

Answer: There is no interior bag. The exterior, and only, bag is plastic with a metallic-looking interior, and due to its contact with food is not recyclable in most areas even though the tea doesn't leave a deposit on the bag's surface.

Answer: The bag is metallic, soft and pliable. That's all I know. It would be more likely to break down over time than aluminium foil.

Answer: Assuming you are referring to this large bag, once I open it I place some of it in metal tea tin of the same brand which I picked up in Heathrow years ago, it keeps well in this tin. (You could also use a Tupperware type container. I then fold down the bag which is what’s left of the original container and use a few metal clips to keep the bag closed and I have never had the tea go stale. Good luck! This is a really good strong basic black tea, highly recommended.
Answer: I store mine in an airtight glass container, though traditionally tea was stored in a tin “tea caddy” with a tin lid that wasn’t airtight. If you need to store it longer-term, use a ziplock bag.

I had heard that this is such a good product, but I was disappointed to find the loose leaf tea was little more than specks of leaves. Still, it is a very strong tea and a little goes a long way. Once I got my water-tea ratio right I am enjoying it. I found it very similar to Barry's Tea from Ireland.

I found this tea to be unexpectedly bitter with low flavor even with very short steeping times with <200 degree water. For a blended black tea, I would much prefer something like Bigelow English Teatime, which has a greater depth of flavor and much less bitterness and tannins. I will not buy this again.

This is a solid 'first pot' tea for me in a rotation with Barry's Irish Breakfast or Taylor's Scottish Breakfast. This tea has a strong Assam presence . . . there is a minor bitterness to it, especially if brewed to long, but it also has a nice malty flavor I like. It is unfortunately composed of what I call 'tea dust' and is very light on the tea oils . . . still, a good and inexpensive tea.

I am having difficulties to find a good tea in this country. This one is above average tea with good but not the outstanding flavour. It is not as clean as it should have been. I blend it 50/50 with the Dilmah Ran Watte. If one wants a good tea, it is advisable to travel to Germany or Russia to get strong, rich flavour, true full body tea. (Eastern, Northern) Europe is a huge market for the black teas, that is probably the main reason why the US receives the 2nd grade tea. The 1st grade tea has got stuck in Moscow, London, Zurich or Frankfurt. ... "poor America" ...

This is the tea that we base all other teas on. We like it strong; I take it black and my wife takes milk. It's a rich full bodied tea that holds up both ways and has a robust profile throughout the drinking experience. Sometimes I add a little Assam or Lapsang to extend the finish, but on it's own it's a fine tea for everyday use.

Tutor : Great tasting robust tea at a very decent price
I purchased a few sampler pouches of loose leaf tea from a local tea shop and after trying them felt that the Yorkshire Gold was what I was looking for. I'm a coffee drinker (and use sugar only in coffee)... the nice smooth but strong flavor that this tea presented was right up my alley. I read a few reviews stating the tea had an off taste to it after purchasing it, but I am not getting anything like that at all, just the nice strong taste of a hearty tea. I am very happy with my purchase. I bought the tea May 2018, the "Best Buy" date on the package (8.8oz loose leaf) states September 2019.

This tea has a decent flavor, nothing extraordinary, but it is so finely ground that it leaks out of all of my tea balls and I am left with tea 'dust' that litters my teapot and I usually have to decant my tea a second time to keep the tea from getting bitter. Yorkshire Gold is an excellent example of a standard English black tea. Tastes like what I would drink when visiting over there (but better for being loose leaf). The bag it comes in is the size and shape of a standard bag of coffee you’d buy at the grocery store.

I love purity, and loose leaf tea is no exception. I'd chosen this product after a few runs of the Davidson's brand, opting for greater variety. This tea is excellent! The leaves are finely shredded, the aroma and taste is full-bodied, and produces a beautifully clear color. The tea is also Rainforest-Alliance certified, so purchasing this tea promotes economic and ecological sustainability. Be advised that this tea contains a lot of fine particles, and those who are not accustomed to such realities will be dismayed to see some fine silt settling in the teapot (and one's own cup). It's not much, and it doesn't bother me at all, but lest someone leave a negative review out of plain ignorance of what loose-leaf tea is...and isn't...it's something that must be mentioned.

Having seen that Sir Patrick Stewart said good things about Yorkshire Gold, I thought I'd give it a try. Very disappointed. This is not a premium quality tea, just run of the mill teabag tea sold in "loose leaf" form. The tea is CTC (crush tear curl), very small pieces with lots of fannings and dust. There is no subtlety in the flavor. This tea is going into the back of my tea shelf, where it will probably sit until it grows old and I put it in the compost.

Yorkshire Gold is quality loose tea. This tea is full-bodied and flavorful. It's fine either black or with a little milk.
There are other brands that I prefer but they cost more and are hard to get in the US. (Don't be confused - some of the best brands reformulate their teas for the US market and are not the same as the tea that they sell in London. Those products may be fine, but they are not the same products they sell domestically in the UK.) The Yorkshire Gold seems like the real deal.

Bought the big bag for work since we've started offering tea with coffee. This tea is a blend. You can brew it very strong. Goes great with milk/cream and sugar. I do prefer straight Darjeeling and Assam. But drinking those every day gets expensive.

heard great things about this tea... and was terribly disappointed. It's not loose leaf quality. I'm not even sure it's tea bag quality. Mostly a fine powder that I strain twice before I drink, and even then I don't drink the last swallow in the cup, lest I choke on pulverized bits of what I can only hope were at one point tea leaves. The flavor is also disappointing. If I put a lot of milk in it, I can stand to drink it, but that's about the best I can say. It's not a cup I look forward to.

This is by far the best loose leaf tea that I have ever used. Makes a perfect, delicious cup every time. I make both single cups and pots at a time and the flavor of Yorkshire tea satisfies and more! Love it!

Lately I have been drinking Yorkshire Gold exclusively as my morning cup, but I’d been buying the tea bag version. In an effort to reduce my plastic consumption (most tea bags contain some form of plastic these days) I wanted to try the loose leaf version. I’d read the mixed reviews about it being too powdery and getting through the tea infuser, so I solved that issue before it occurred by making sure to buy a fine mesh metal tea infuser to use with the loose leaf tea. And I’m happy to say I’ve had a lovely experience with this loose leaf variety. The taste and quality is the same for me, compared to the bagged version. Overall I’m very pleased and will repurchase.

wHILE FROM TIME TO TIME i ENJOY SOME MORE FANCY TEAS, LIKE VARIOUS DARJEELING brands, this is what I love for everyday drinking. Used to buy smaller bags, but as I keep buying it over and over, 1 kg bag seemed a perfect choice. Some people complain that leaves are crushed into small pieces. Yes. But it doesn't bother me. It actually helps to brew it quicker, and to use less. Good flavour, nice thea. Thank you Harrogate.

I just made my first cup, and the tea lives up to its great reputation. I'd been wanting to try this brand since I found out that my great- great-grandfather was a Dane from Yorkshire, who immigrated to the USA. I'm sitting here in the US Heartland having my first cuppa Yorkshire Gold. I will buy this again, absolutely. I made it in a pre-warmed mug with 1/2 scoop of loose leaves and poured boiling water over it. Steeped for 2 minutes, added a splash of milk and a 1/2 spoon of sugar. This is a rich, robust, slightly aromatic tea: YUM!

I typically buy the bagged version of Yorkshire gold and like it. This time I decided to buy the loose leaf variety and was disappointed to find it was either fannings or ground. I was hoping for full leaf. Wasn't particularly impressed with the quality and wouldn't buy the loose leaf tea again.

Yorkshire Gold is one of my favorite bagged teas, and I love the full body taste of loose leaf teas, so I thought this would be perfect.
Not so much. The bag I received, at least, was practically powder. I don't mind a few leaves escaping a strainer, but this was impossible to filter. These scraps should be reserved for bags, not sold as leaf tea. The taste is very nice, no different from the bagged version.

I'm a bit of a tea snob and wasn't expecting this to be anything fancy. I bought it because it's not whole leaf tea and I wanted to use it in my cold-drip. It's actually really good in the cold-drip, even more so when you consider the price. It's a pretty good black tea hot as well. I would recommend this. Surprisingly great value!
Tutor : Great tasting robust tea at a very decent price
I purchased a few sampler pouches of loose leaf tea from a local tea shop and after trying them felt that the Yorkshire Gold was what I was looking for. I'm a coffee drinker (and use sugar only in coffee)... the nice smooth but strong flavor that this tea presented was right up my alley. I read a few reviews stating the tea had an off taste to it after purchasing it, but I am not getting anything like that at all, just the nice strong taste of a hearty tea. I am very happy with my purchase. I bought the tea May 2018, the "Best Buy" date on the package (8.8oz loose leaf) states September 2019.

Flower Girl : LOVE this tea!
I am loving the flavor of this tea! My Mom had some in tea bags that she gave me that I fell in love with. So much so that when I got to the bottom of the box, I horded the last tea bag because I didn't want to use it all up. After doing a search for this tea on the net, I was super pleased to find that Amazon carried it because my local grocery stores (and I checked all of them) didn't. I took a leap and got the big bag of loose tea and haven't been disappointed. I even got my husband and my Mother-in-law hooked on it. We got her a big bag for her birthday. Having spent time in Russia, both she and my hubby said this tea reminded them of the wonderful tea that they had there and hadn't been able to find anywhere in the US. This full bodied, rich black tea is good plain, sweetened, with cream, lemon or iced. I will never use lipton tea again for my Summer iced tea. There is no comparison. And I WILL be reordering. If this is what the English drink for tea time, I can see why they have to have it every day. Order it loose or in bags, you will not be disappointed.
Beach Bummer : Good flavor but too fine-ground
The flavor is good in my opinion but the tea is very powdery, even using a fine mesh tea ball I have a lot of sediment in the bottom of the cup...seems like siftings rather than shreds of tea leaf.
If you want this brand, I’d suggest going with the filter bags but since I want loose-leaf, I will be trying a different tea next time even though I like the flavor.

From reviews, I was expecting a superior tea. This tea has a decent flavor, nothing extraordinary, but it is so finely ground that it leaks out of all of my tea balls and I am left with tea 'dust' that litters my teapot and I usually have to decant my tea a second time to keep the tea from getting bitter. I will not be repurchasing.

More Tea Please : Best Morning Tea and Iced Tea!
This is a wonderful full-bodied tea, perfect for your morning cup. I can't start my day without it. It also makes outstanding, very flavorful iced tea. (I use 7 tsp for a half gallon pitcher of iced tea.) It is finely cut, so a tea ball won't work well with it, but a good brew basket will keep even these fine leaves out of your cup. This one works beautifully in a mug or pot:

mtspace : Strong, Rich, Red, with a Good Tannin Bite. Good Value.
I must admit to being a a bit of a tea snob; though perhaps not the 'right' kind of tea snob. I judge tea on how it tastes, not by how I think it should taste based on its price. I disappointed a tea lover once by not saying that my favorite tea was Darjeeling - which I find to be just a little flat. I like my black tea to have a strong reddish color and a good bite of tannin. I drink it brewed strongly and quickly, with a touch of sugar and a splash of milk. I expect it to be fragrant, with just a touch of smoke. I have used Twining's loose leafed teas and like them, though perhaps not quite as much. I have used one or two more expensive loose leafed teas in tins and I like them, too. I have tried a few Tazo teas and have found it impossible to get the tea strong enough, even when using ten or twenty times the tea (by cost, not by weight)! Taylor's of Harrogate gives me a rich, dark, strong brew with good bite. It may be just a bit less fragrant than really expensive teas, but I love the flavor.
Those who drink tea occasionally and like to look at the tins on the counter will likely find those to be a good value. Those who guzzle half a gallon of tea a day may find that they save a little money buying tea in these huge foil pouches. And they can do so without giving up any flavor or fragrance. Sealed in these large foil bags, I find the tea to be at least as fresh and sprightly as that in any tin. I move it in batches from the bag into an old tin that I keep on the counter. The tea is great! I love the aroma and flavor, and the price is really good for the amount of loose tea you get.
My only complaint would be if this ends up shipping with another item, like in the case you subscribe and save, it's going to arrive as a fine powder. Maybe not a huge issue if you're using a super fine filter, or your own paper tea bags, but otherwise this results in a lot of particulate in your cup.

CarrotStick : A nice cuppa straight from England
Yorkshire Gold is an excellent example of a standard English black tea. Tastes like what I would drink when visiting over there (but better for being loose leaf). The bag it comes in is the size and shape of a standard bag of coffee you’d buy at the grocery store.

This is by far the best loose leaf tea that I have ever used. Makes a perfect, delicious cup every time. I make both single cups and pots at a time and the flavor of Yorkshire tea satisfies and more! Love it!

I have bought this tea for several years for early morning draughts of the delicious reddish-brown tea it delivers. I buy other, much more expensive teas for use later in the day, when I am more awake and less concerned with something to kick me into gear. That may make it sound like I consider this 'fuel,' which I don't. It is really good basic tasty tea. Nothing fancy, mind you: but a good solid value for your money, far surpassing anything you can otherwise buy from the shelves of your local store. Twinings, for example, tastes like mud alongside this!
All that said, I don't think I have ever ordered this tea that it arrives on time as scheduled. Not sure why this is the case, but it means on a pretty consistent basis that whenever I order the tea, I have about 2 weeks of tea left and always run out before the next bags arrive as scheduled. Maybe UPS is at fault, or maybe the seller, or maybe customs, or everyone of the above. At any rate, if you like it as I do, be sure to order it a good month to six weeks ahead of when you expect it, or, like me, you will be falling back on those inferior brews for 10 days while waiting for somebody, somewhere to do their job correctly and deliver this very nice product to you, the impatient customer, and to me.

The Yorkshire Gold is more like the strong teas I learned to drink in Ireland and the only brand I will drink now. Absolutely love the dark rich flavor. It's the best!!!

This ain't your Lipton tea! The flavor is strong with an after taste that I love. The tea is ground finer than most loose leaf teas. I haven't had tea this good in a long time! I am happy with my purchase and will buy again.

Yorkshire Red or Yorkshire Gold are premium black teas. Yorkshire Gold gives you a unique flavor with specific black tea blends that gives it a delicious flavor. I feel that loose leaf tea gives it a more robust flavor than a tea bag. It's counter part the Yorkshire Red it primarily a black tea both carry a high caffeine content so if you are sensitive to that you may want to find a green or white or a decaf English Breakfast or other teas to compliment your sensitivity. The mere fact that Yorkshire Teas come from England and they have been one of the tea drinking countries in the world you know you are getting a quality product. I recommend this delectable tea for anyone want to expand their horizons.

We had been drinking PG Tips loose leaf in the Catering bag and were starting to tire of it. Our son introduced us to Taylors of Harrogate, so we tried it. Now we have a subscription for it. It holds up to milk and sugar. Some American teas taste like warm milk when you add the milk.
But then Americans' idea of brewed tea is to use saltwater, Boston tea party and all that. :) OK we make some great iced tea and some of us learned from our ancestors how to drink tea right.
