Twinings of London Earl Grey Loose Tea
Legend has it that the second Earl Grey was presented with this exquisite recipe by an envoy on his return from China. He liked it so much he asked Richard Twining to recreate it for him and future generations of the Earl have enjoyed the blend ever since. Today, each box of Twinings Earl Grey bears the signature of the seventh Earl Grey so the tradition lives on.
At Twinings, we take great care to ensure that the Earl Grey you drink today tastes as extraordinary as the one Richard Twining first created. Fresh, fragrant and flavoured with the distinctive notes of citrus and bergamot, this Earl Grey tea has all the taste of the original.

Questions about Twinings of London Earl Grey Loose Tea Tins, 7.05 Ounces (Pack of 6)
Q:
How many ounces of tea will a 7.05 ounce tin make on average. I am trying to compare the cost of this vs. tea bags
Answer: My wife and I make a 6-cup (48 oz) pot of tea every morning using the loose tea. One 7.05 oz can of tea lasts 3 to 4 weeks, so I guess that is roughly 100 - 150 cups of tea per can. We haven't compared cost to tea bags - we love the taste of brewing loose tea. We think the flavor is so much better than tea-bag tea.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I divide mine into about 20 tea bags and each is for a full pot of tea (between 1 and 1.5kg). One tin lasts me for 3 weeks.
Answer: Each day, I use 2 rounded tablespoons of Twinings in a medium pot. The 7.05 oz. tin lasts 20-22 days - I've counted.
Q:
Can this tea be used in a reusable k cup ??
Answer: I think any loose tea can be put into a plastic reusable k-cup (just like loose grain coffee). Because the hot water pours through it rather quickly I'm not sure how intense the flavor will be. You may have to try different amounts of tea leaves to get the right flavor.
Q:
Are the tea leaves placed directly in the tin box or in a big cellophane bag first ( included in the tin box)?
Answer: It’s just in the Tim but it’s covered with foil (it’s sealed)
Q:
What did the price go up $20?
Q:
Is the tea from Japan or China? Thx.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: There is a YouTube video you will find there about a Twinings review of their Green Gunpowder Tea. The young lady states that the tea is from Zhejiang Province, China. If you would like to see her review, go to YouTube.com and type in Twinings Gunpowder Green Tea, and their review will come up.
Answer: The blend information says that it is a mixture of tea from Assam, Kenya, China, and Indonesia
Answer: CHINA
Q:
What is the expiration date on this tea?
Answer: If it has been stored with the lid tight and in a dry place, I don't think it would expire? do the sniff test and toss it if it smells dusty/moldy, but otherwise should be fine!
Q:
podria decirme la fecha de vencimiento. gracias

Why has the flavor of the last batch of Twinings Early Grey loose leaf tins lose its bergamot flavor and decays quicker after brewing?
Answer: Read Harold McGee's book " Nose Dive"
Q:
What Are The Health Benefits?
Answer: First, I drink English Breakfast Tea...but black strong Tea is of course fermented Tea...that's why it's black...good for a energy rush ( like coffee ) and helps regulate one's bowel 's...
Answer: None, other than the satisfaction i get having a nice hot cup of tea in the morning!
Q:
Why the big price increase since December 2016 50.00 for six pack now 78.00!
Q:
Is this an English tea?
Answer: Yes. Twinings of London is an English tea company that dates pack to 1706. Lady Grey (a variation of Earl Grey Tea) was introduced in 1994.
Answer: According to my niece, this is an English tea. I gifted her with the Lady Grey tea as she had enjoyed it when in England and she was most happy that it could be obtained on Amazon.
Answer: Yes. They have been producing and selling tea since the early 1700's. Lady Grey is my wife's favorite tea. She is from Swindon, England. Like Earl Grey, but more floral and aromatic than Earl Grey. I recommend allowing this tea to brew a few minutes longer since it is a lighter type of tea. Twinings has always been our favorite tea and one we have the most of. Quality has always been the highest. Enjoy.
Q:
Is lady earl grey toxin free? I heard it was not. Tahnk you
Answer: I have no idea what you have heard, but I am not in the habit of drinking poison.
Q:

Answer: It is green tea.
Q:

Q:
Any idea how this is decaffeinated? is it the ethyl acetate method? thank you
Q:

Answer: Cins
Q:
Is it possible to get a single can of gunpowder tea?

Q:
Do you ship to Canada?
Q:
expiration dates
Answer: The tea I ordered a few months ago has ab expiration date of May 5, 2016.
Answer: On the side of the canister, the expiration date should be in day/month/year (DD/MM/YYYY) format. I'm not certain that tea 'expires' but even in proper storage it may loss flavor over time.
Answer: Like herbs and spices, TEA IS NOTHING BUT FLAVOR, so I wouldn't buy a tea that is past or close to past it's BEST BY date. If a tea in my own home has passed its Best By date, I know it won't make me sick, but if it's really disappointing, I toss it out. I'm not a tea snob, but how I've stored tea -- not in a cabinet warmed by under counter light fixtures, or near the stove/oven -- and how I prepare it -- some teas need briskly boiling water, others just close to boiling -- and how long I steep it -- make a difference in my enjoyment. In years of buying through Amazon, I've never received a product with an old date.
Answer: Yes, there's an expiration date stamped on the tin.
Answer: Package says July of 2016
Q:
What grade is the gunpowder green tea?
Answer: I don't know. I haven't had this one. I had lady grey, (a light tea, citrus flavor), English breakfast tea, (a darker stronger tea). And Irish breakfast, a medium tea.
Answer: Flavor of Jasmine was not in the tea
Q:
Can this loose tea be used the same as ground coffee in the keurig my k-cup universal reusable filter pods?
Answer: Don't even think about IT.! Although both are ' water soluble ' ...( hence we drink them...) Tea swells up infinitely More...that Coffee maker would tell you No.! And the Tea people...would say you need an good proper cup of Tea...to Think Straight.!
Answer: Yes reserve one cup for tea and another for coffee. Works just fine.
Answer: It really needs to steep in hot water for a few minutes. No sure just running water over it will give the best result.
Q:
Do any of the Community use any Twinings Teas for iced tea?
Answer: I have not set out to make iced tea with my Twinings Tea. I have brewed more than a single serving and refrigerated the overage for latter consumption. It is a refreshing choice and after chilling in the refrigerator no ice is required.
Answer: Yes, I like the Twinings "Prince of Wales" blend. It tastes great hot. And when the tea cools down too much, I pour it over ice. Excellent !

Answer: I haven’t used the southern Sun Tea method where you put the tea leaves in cold water. I have used it in the method for steeped hot tea, but you have to make it extra strong because adding ice later waters down the tea.

Answer: We don't
Answer: Sorry, can’t help.

Answer: November 2015
Q:
Why has the flavor of the last batch of Twinings Early Grey loose leaf tins list the original bergamot flavor and decays quicker after brewing?
Answer: Sorry, I don’t know. I recently purchased a tin of Twinings English Breakfast Tea and have had no problems with it.
Q:
Please can you advise what the best before date is likely to be?
Answer: Sorry but due to on going time frame it will change as time goes by. The freshness of the tea also depends on the leaves of the different teas since it is a blend. Since the tea is sealed and is dried that usually is not that big of a factor. I have a tin of loose tea and it suppose to best before 01/28/2014 and still taste great. I buy six pack at a time. Hope I was able to help. Enjoy!!!!
Answer: Mine comes on automatic order, a six pack at a time. My most recent order came in October and had a June 2015 date. This gives you 2 data points...
Answer: The Twinings Earl Grey Tea we ordered in September 2013 includes a March 2015 date. Just one example -
Answer: I ordered English Breakfast in Aug 2014, expiration is end of Feb 2016.
Answer: I have had an unopened tin for 6 mos before using the tea and I couldn't tell the difference from the tins I opened upon receiving them. Hope that helps.
Q:
what is the freshness or use by date?
Answer: The freshness date is 6-24-18 PL. It doesn't say use by this date. It still tastes good. I know that tea has a long shelf life. Hope that this is helpful.
Answer: It kept the fresh taste and smell till we finish the box (~1 month using once in a day)
Q:
The reviews are concerning, if I receive tins that are expired or close to it can I return these items?
Answer: Probably not if their Vacumed Packed..
Q:
Is the tea power from Japan or China ? Thx
Answer: The tin doesn't list origin only that it's blended in either the UK or Poland, but the Twinings site on the Internet says, "Twinings works hard to minimize the level of pesticide residues in our teas. Though we buy on the open market and have no direct control over how the tea is grown, we actively monitor our raw materials for pesticide residues and work with our growers to eliminate or minimize their use. We believe that pesticide residues in tea make an insignificant contribution to pesticide intake from dietary sources." So I'd say that origin is likely not all from one place.
Answer: It has listed as the country of origin, Great Britain, however, I believe the tea leaves come from China.
Q:
Is this 6 tins of just the irish breakfast blend?
Answer: Yes, just bought some and it's 6 identical tins, plastic-wrapped together. One tin had a very slight dent, but all the foil seals were intact.
Answer: Mine were all the same. Nice tins too
Q:
I never intentionaily placed an order for tea to be delivered periodically and no order was placed on July 22, 2018 as you indicate. How to stop it?
Q:
Does the Jasmine Green tea come in the pink tins, as shown in the photo? (Or does it come in the dark blue-ish/purple tin that it is usually seen in
Q:
I ordered this 6 pack and received only 1 tin! what happened? i paid for 6 and received 1. how do i get the other 5 i paid for sent to me?
Q:
How much of the loose earl grey tea is equal to 1 earl grey tea bag? I make big batches of 100 tea bags, but I think this will make it easier.
Answer: I don't really know, but why don't you start with using Teaspoons of the loose until you get the strength you like,,
Answer: I like my tea strong so I may use more than some people. I usually equate a rounded tablespoon (measuring type)of loose tea to 1 tea bag. I use 4 teaspoons in an infuser for my fairly large pot, I think it holds about about 8 cups.
Answer: I don't know exactly but I typically use 1 teaspoon of loose tea per serving. So perhaps about 1 tsp equals one bag.
Answer: Depends on strength and size of scooper but I would open a tea bag and measure the amount. That should help determine the amount.
Answer: Lose tea isn't as fine as what's in the bags, but should be around table spoon size for a single ser
Q:
How do I get Amazon to fill my order correctly? I ordered and paid for 6 cans but only one can was delivered.
Q:
is there artificial flavoring in this?
Answer: I doubt that it is an artificial flavoring. My wife is the tea drinker and doesn't like anything artificial. She says it is a type of orange peel flavor.
Answer: No, twinings is one of the oldest brands of earl grey. It only contains black tea and natural bergamot oil.
Q:
Please i need to know how much is the price of 3 pack of 3.53Oz and what is the expiry date
Q:
why doesn't the twinnings picture show the weight?
Answer: Doesn't it say: " 7.05 Ounces "...? That's the weight.!!!
Answer: In the picture it does not and I do not know why not, but when you order it, it tells you and it also shows on the can when you receive it.
Answer: 100g ~ 3.5oz
Q:
Twinning Irish Breakfast tea bags rate the strength as a 5, but loose leaf is rated as a 3 (medium strength). Are they different?
Answer: I really don't know the answer. I only use the loose tea (which is very good) so I can't comment on the bagged tea. I use a rounded teaspoon for a 12 once mug 3 minute steep for a nice cup of morning tea.
Answer: Go for lose...rolling boil...what ever contaner/strainer you use...THE LENGTH OF TIME IT STEEPS...
Product reviews of Twinings of London Earl Grey Loose Tea Tins, 7.05 Ounces (Pack of 6)
Timothy : Lady Grey: One Of My Family's Favourites.
This And Earl Grey Is Our Favourite Tea. O This Has A Much Better Flavour Than The Bags Of Twinings Lady Grey We Have Used. The Citrus Was More Enhanced And Invigorating ! This Six Pack Is Over A Pound Of Our Beloved Lady Grey. Loose Leaf Infusers And A Teaspoonful Of This Made Me Two Cups (May Not Work For Everyone, But Work Nicely For Me And My Wife !) I Love It All The More Now And Shall Not Hesitate To Order More ! I Would Highly Recommend This, If Not In The Six Pack, At Least One Single 100 Gram Tin. . . Perfection In Every Teaspoon !
Cheryl : surprise
this was a surprise for my husband it is is wonderful! He loves it.
MikadoWu : Nummy
This is my favorite Black Tea. The flavor really is a great blend of bergamot with a touch of lemon. I keep over 20 different types of Loose Tea in my cabinet. Most of them are expensive Chinese White Tea's with a few Greens, but the Lady is one that is always there.
I suggest you playing with the steep times. Personally I like a 40 second steep with 1 tablespoon of tea and 12 ounces of 185 degree water.
Lorelei Leigh : Expensive but worth it
I had previously drunk this tea but I tried to save money buying some Brand X teas, available from companies less well known, and they did not taste so good as the Twinings ... I endured the cheaper tea for a while but I recently got back to buying the Twining brand and it never tasted so wonderful as to get the good stuff. Now I realize you get what you pay for and the difference is amazing. There is alot of quality variation in tea I dont know enough to know why. People who dont like tea probably drank the bad stuff once and never knew it could be this good.
S. Chatto : Silky smooth taste with a touch of a Bergamot
Undoubtedly the most enjoyable real leaf tea available for the young at heart as well as the gray haired grumpy ones :-)
Silky smooth taste of Darjeeling hills tea leaves with a light scent of Bergamot.
Try it with a touch of high purity clover honey and low fat milk.
Brew the leaves in boiled water for 10 minutes in a kettle & rewarm each cup in the microwave for 30-45 secs.
Cheers!

These six tins of tea should have been shipped in a box, not an envelope. Three of the six tins of tea are significantly dented making them unacceptable for gifting. And I just checked the expiration date: only 2 months from today - good grief - how old is this tea?!?

Ines del Rosario Rodriguez : Lo recomiendo
Riquisimo
Lisa Steinmetz : I think I have enough.. don't you?
OK so I have found that I am a huge fan of loose leaf teas. Normally I use tea bags, but after trying loose leaf I'm slowly moving in that direction. lol I do use some tea bags when I go out somewhere. I have decided to get a tin to dump all of the tea in so I don't have 7 cans floating around my desk. lol
Eve London : Nothing refreshes like a nice pot of Twining Tea
???? enjoy this tea very much. Try to never be without it.
D. E. : Quality of the product
Well, the leaves were small, and the product contained dust-size particles. I did not feel the fresh tea flavor either when I opened the box. I don't think I'd repurchase it.
SoCal guy : Just the best
My wife's favorite tea. Nothing else is even a close second. I order these in bulk and have a subscription for them as we can never be without! Twinings is real tea, not flavored, new-age infused nonsense. If you want a real cuppa, and appreciate the value of a company that really knows what they're doing, then Twinings is for you.
T. A. Stern : My Family's Favorite for Generations
My personal favorites are Jasmine and Darjeeling. I sometimes add a 3 or 4 cardamom seeds to a 12 oz mug of tea around 3 o'clock for a refreshing pick-me-up while I relax in the back yard. Brings a big sigh of pleasure. I picked up the habit from my grandparents (English and Welsh) and their favorite breakfast tea in the morning, with milk. Absolutely delish!
Rudi Franke : A Tea for Beautiful Woman and Their Equally Handsome Men
If you try to buy tea in one of our major cities and are approached by some limp-wristed purveyor trying to sell you one of his "artisanal" blends packaged in a paper bag with an attractive or colorful label, do not scoff but leave the premises in as diplomatic, and polite manner you can muster. Tea has been and always will be an expensive commodity, and with good reason; its irresistible flavor depends on volatile compounds either inherent in the tea or added to enhance its finished flavor. The operative word here is "volatile" which is synonymous with "fleeting" and in the world of tea quality, packaging is everything. With Twinings tea you are getting a tea with the maximum protection; a foil-sealed metal can, for goodness sake. Twinings delivers it to you with the understanding that you will enjoy the flavor that they meant for you to have so that you may return to them as a source of quality teas again and again. Of course, once you've opened the can it's up to you to keep the can closed after use until the tea is all gone. I prefer loose tea and Twinings is my supplier of choice. Twinings has so many varieties for you to choose from, there really is no reason to go elsewhere. We may have sent those Redcoats back to England with their tails between their legs but we still have a lot to learn from them when it comes to tea. Lady Grey is an especially tasty blend, you'll enjoy it.
Tony Modesa : If you like Tea at or past its Best By Date: This is for you
I just received my shipment of Twining's Gunpowder Green Tea. The tea was wonderful, aroma was on-point, and taste - very good.
The shelf life of tea that's stored properly is considerable, BUT since mine arrived near the Best by date, I'm really hoping I can fully enjoy my double order before the last few tins go stale on me.
Nana S : Good flavor, too many fine grounds
I love breakfast teas without extra flavorings. I expected the tea leaves would be larger, without fines. I've resorted to putting loose tea in the strainer, rinsing under the faucet for 30 seconds, then pouring boiling water over, which resolves some of the issue. One still needs to avoid the final two swallows, as more grounds are in the bottom of the cup. I'll go to another brand after finishing the six boxes. Very prompt Prime service.
Ted London : Great tea but I miss you because of new cost.
Great pure tea but now price ballooned so not buying this.
Tetyana : Good tea
Good tea, not much aroma though.
Sophi : Love the tea
Moved to loose tea and this tea tastes great. Highly recommend.
Lee Huddleston : Fantastic
Delicious loose earl grey tea. I use it for making iced tea, my favorite. Check out the Adagio IngenuiTEA brewer available here on Amazon for a great tea making setup. My only wish is that Amazon stocked it in a bigger size. I'm running out of ideas for things to do with all the dozens of little metal tea boxes i have around the house now. Good for storing electronic cables, screws, poker chips, etc...
Loose tea is much better than bagged tea... more room for the leaves to brew.
thatcrazydoglady : So disappointed in this last order
So disappointed in this last order, September'17! I don't drink it, but my husband does. I do love to open the new can though, as I love the smell of the freshly opened can. This batch does NOT smell as it should!!!!!!! And then, my husband said it didn't even taste right and threw out the cup I'd just made for him! And a package of 6 cans is $58!!!!!!!!! We have been buying this for my husband for a long time. Is this is new formula or is this last batch somehow in error?????? I hope the manufacturer sees this and responds!
jacqueline Figueroa : Muy muy bueno
Me encanta este te es lo mejor suave con gusto a te duradero lo mejor
Eve London : Nothing refreshes like a nice pot of Twining Tea

Lao Tzu : my favourite flavour
I really enjoy this tea, but due to price I usually use Red Rose or Lipton.....Luzianne for iced.
Tetyana : Good tea
Good tea, not much aroma though.

Simscook : A daily gift to myself
I have been a loose tea drinker (not personally but in reference to the presentation of the tea - loose vs. bag!) for the last 40 years - could never tolerate coffee, and the caffine in tea doesn't bother me a bit. In the last 5 or so years, I have shifted from Twinings Earl Gray tea to the Twinings Gunpowder Green Tea. I hate to say this, but I am a bit of a snob regarding tea, always drinking the premium brands, and Twinings is the ONLY green tea I buy. This is a very high quality green tea. Gunpowder is a bit stronger than some of the other greens, but one can acquire a tast for it. Just keep thinking how good it is for you. I usually drink it with lemon and a touch of honey. I drink it every day, all day; take a thermos of the brew to work to sip all day! If you haven't tried green ice tea, get ready for a treat. In the summer, when things get muggy and hot here, I brew a large teapot of green tea in the morning, adding a couple of slices of lemon and honey (add this while hot so it disolves completely). When ready for a glass to cool off, I pour a tall glass, add ice and relax. This purchase offered on Amazon is a fantastic deal. The individual tins are close to $7 in my local store, when they can stock it. As someone mentioned, if it seems too strong, just brew for a shorter time - never much longer than 3 minutes for any tea, but especially the Gunpowder. Lemon does lighten not only the color but the flavor. I highly recommend this tea as well as this price!
A. C. : Irish Breakfast Tea makes a Robust, Full-bodied Cuppa!
I am an avid tea drinker, and Irish Black tea is my favorite of all the different blends of black tea. Usually I drink Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea in the tea bag form because it is simple and convenient. Recently I’ve started to drink loose leaf teas (other brands included) and decided to give my favorite brand a chance.
Twinings of London Irish Breakfast Loose Tea tastes exactly the same as the tea bag format – it is simply delicious! It's a blend of the same fine black tea expertly selected from Kenya, Indonesia, India and China. I place 1 teaspoon of loose tea in an infuser basket inside a 30 oz teapot and fill with freshly boiled water. I brew for only 3 minutes as it is very strong in caffeine content. It is delicious with the addition of milk or cream and sugar. It has a lovely amber color with a bold taste and a smooth finish.
What I did not like about Twinings Irish Breakfast loose tea, was the quality of the leaves themselves. There are no discernible leaves! The leaves are all crushed or milled into fine indistinguishable pieces. This was hugely disappointing even though it did not take away from the flavor of the tea itself.
Overall Twinings of London Irish Breakfast Loose Tea truly delivers a robust full-bodied cuppa! Grade A
RPCV 2002 : No plastics in the packaging and makes a strong cuppa. Yay.
nice tea. I like that it's in a recyclable tin (though actually I reuse the tins ) and that the inside has no plastic wrap either, just aluminum foil. So guiltless enjoyment of my cuppa. The tea is good, though not my fav, but I haven't found any yet that is better and doesn't have plastic wrap as part of its packaging.
Rainestormrose : Great in my Keurig maker!
Irish Breakfast has been my favorite tea! I am not a coffee drinker and I don't like flavored teas. I was brought up by a British mother and so we always had loose black tea in the house while growing up. I have used the Irish Breakfast tea bags for years in the microwave but when my husband got a Keurig coffee maker; I saw that I could make my tea using loose tea in the reusable filter basket which is much faster and easier than in a tea pot like my mom did. I only have one cup a day and one tin lasted for 36 days. I signed up with amazon for the automatic shipments of this tea. It has a great flavor!!!!
Pilot and homeowner : Smells really good when first opened.
Great product. It could be a little less expensive.
Lao Tzu : my favourite flavour
I really enjoy this tea, but due to price I usually use Red Rose or Lipton.....Luzianne for iced.
hidden : consistent high quality
consistently high quality product and the only one that will keep my wife quite which is a blessing.
Arun K. : Great quality, freshness and flavor.
I love this tea. I blend this with Darjeeling tea (1 part of Earl Grey to 2 parts of Darjeeling) to obtain the right mix of strength and flavor (to my personal liking). The quality of this tea has been consistent over the last 30 years.
Michael J Carter : Shipped item not as advertised...
Just noticed that we received 6 3.5oz tins instead of 7oz tins... Return window already closed :^(
Lee Huddleston : Fantastic
Delicious loose earl grey tea. I use it for making iced tea, my favorite. Check out the Adagio IngenuiTEA brewer available here on Amazon for a great tea making setup. My only wish is that Amazon stocked it in a bigger size. I'm running out of ideas for things to do with all the dozens of little metal tea boxes i have around the house now. Good for storing electronic cables, screws, poker chips, etc...
Loose tea is much better than bagged tea... more room for the leaves to brew.
Bear reader : while not as good, gets by in a pinch for when you ...
Have sampled many varieties of Earl Grey over the years. For me, Loose tinned Twinings is the Gold standard! It just used to be so Incredibly difficult to obtain. Had a few retail stores, but they fell away, along with getting any thing larger than a 3-4 oz.can , yes I know it's in Grams! Ordering from UK was crazy as postage often more expensive than Tea! Thanks to who ever brought it into Amazon. Even a program with recurring orders, to save more money, & very convenient for us forgetful types. The tea bag version, while not as good, gets by in a pinch for when you aren't connected to your teapot, plus allows you to sample the other blends. Used to drink many different types of teas years ago, but am vertical happy to have this 24/7. Good cold as well, easily mixes w/ fruit juices, like Peach or Apricot. . Hot, Like it strong w/ milk & homemade vanilla sugar !
NtY : Good Tea
This was my favorite tea. I have been buying it, $35 for 6. The flavor is good, but the new price is way to high 51.00 is the new price. I can buy it direct from twinings for less. I won't be ordering from Amazon this time.
Zeta-absilon : maybe mine was bad batch or old (does not have any date on ...
very disappointing; the container is exactly the same as store; where I bought mine before; but this one does NOT have the aroma that Earl Grey should have. the aroma is very faint (bergamot aroma is not there) comparing to store bought. I made a mistake ordering 6 pack. I am mixing it with store bought brand to get my money worth something. if you decide to try it; make sure buy just one, maybe mine was bad batch or old (does not have any date on the any of containers). I am giving a 2 stars only because I still can use the tea to mix it with store brand.
S.R. : Multiple boxes came dented.
Just like the title says, the corner boxes came dented. Bit of a shame because we got them as souvenirs for some tea infusers that we got.
Inside is good, so we may just put them in another container.
SpazzingMomma : Great Buy!
I had to make the switch from Coffee to tea due to my health, so I thought that buying a tea in bulk that I enjoyed would be a good idea, and I was glad this was the item I bought. Half the price of grocery stores, and the order came rather quickly. The tea tastes great and haven't had any issues with staleness. Each tin lasts me up to 3 weeks (I drink a lot of tea) and then the tins make great storage for craft odds and ends, or my favorite use is (after a thorough rinsing and drying) packing grain salads for lunch boxes. I would absolutely buy this product again.
D3N1Z3Nx : sweeeet
Excellent tea! I drink it before I'm supposed to go to bed (I'm 37). It is nice and light, plus who doesn't like Captain Picard? Seriously though, the aroma is stout, but the final product from 1 full scoop out of my Cuisinart 5 cup coffee maker is quite mellow in character, (read: use 1.5 tbsp in an automatic to get substantial taste and do it full on manual to get the real deal). I quite like this tea and I also drink the Irish Breakfast however that is somewhat akin to motor oil or coffee when correctly brewed, quite substantial and manly, if I do say so, like a good Musk Cologne. Cheerio!
mlm : Good, but very finely cut...
Twinings English Breakfast tea is a good, basic black tea (as is its stronger cousin, Irish Breakfast tea). But I find this loose tea to be a bit of a challenge. It is cut quite finely and no matter how fine the mesh on the infuser or strainer some of this always comes through. I drink a lot of tea and am fine with drinking some tea dust or even a few leaves, but I am talking about a lot of tea here...a teaspoon full or more in each cup.
It is true that this tastes better than the bagged variety of Twinings English Breakfast tea. It is smoother and never bitter, as the bagged tea sometimes is. I have compromised and used the loose tea but I strain it through a coffee filter. The tins the tea comes in keep it quite fresh and though straining it is a hassle, it is worth it for me.
This is moderately strong (I drink it black) and if you are sensitive to caffeine you might not want to drink it near bedtime. I use Amazon's Subscribe and Save program for this tea; it is a good bargain and I like the convenience of having it delivered. It is also hard to find the loose tea in supermarkets.
chinakids : Best value Gunpowder Green Tea
The price on this product was just right. After searching (and failing) to find ANY loose Gunpowder Green Tea at any of my local grocery stores, I resorted to Amazon, and Twinings came through. The tea is very fresh and comes separately packaged in 6 tins. Although I personally would prefer a larger single tin (I'm already through tin 1 of the set), this does ensure freshness for the rest of the tea.
Lisa Steinmetz : I think I have enough.. don't you?
OK so I have found that I am a huge fan of loose leaf teas. Normally I use tea bags, but after trying loose leaf I'm slowly moving in that direction. lol I do use some tea bags when I go out somewhere. I have decided to get a tin to dump all of the tea in so I don't have 7 cans floating around my desk. lol

Dawn M. Bond : Earl Grey Tea, Loose Leaf, Pack of Six
I'm seeing that Amazon is grouping together the reviews for all Twinings teas, from Orange Pecoe to Earl Grey. This review pertains to the Earl Grey.
Earl Grey: So perfect! Twinings has always done an excellent job with its Earl Grey, and this product is no exception. The black tea is strong and rich, and the bergamot is deep and flavorful. The fragrance is magnificent, and the taste is so beautiful that I find myself drinking large cups of this tea daily. I've heard bergamot compared to orange, but its nature is more lemon-like to me--and, somehow, I can't seem to get enough. In addition to the health properties of black tea, bergamot acts to decrease certain cholesterols in the body. The moral of the story: We need Earl Grey in our lives!
Loose Leaf: Also exquisite. Twinings has this tea available in bags, but it is far stronger in loose-leaf form. The leaves are large and whole, and they never end up escaping my infuser accidentally. Then, too, the loose-leaf variety goes much, much farther than tea bags, making this an excellent value for comparable or greater strength. My one challenge with this tea is that it is not decaf, whereas Twinings Earl Grey is available in decaf bags. That isn't insurmountable so long as I drink it only throughout the morning hours.
Tins: Nothing plasticine about them! I've always felt that plastic, cardboard, etc. are inauthentic. These tins really are rectangular metal structures with a small tea leaf embossed on the top. The foil covering beneath the lid keeps the tea fresh and preserves flavor nicely. Then, too, these tins are excellent storage places for other teas once the Earl Grey is gone.
Pack of six: Translation: It's the tea that keeps on giving!--and, trust me, you'll want it that way. Buying in bulk like this is expensive up-front, but so important once you find a tea that you'd like to stick with.
Final Recommendation: Make a cup, or two, or ten, of tea. Make many, many London fogs. Make Earl Grey macaroons--yes, they do exist! Whatever you do, you will be thoroughly pleased with this product.
Jason Harrington : The right combination
If you are new to brewing this tea, or loose leaf tea in general, let me tell you that this is the right number of tins in the right size for the right price. The only way you won't agree, is if you have some great use for a million tins in the larger size. Personally, I keep all my tins, and this size is the most useful for storing small things with a lid. I have even used the tins for sprouting beans. However, the primary benefit is in freshness. I was ordering larger tins for a while, but it seemed like the distribution of bergamot flavor was a little inconsistent in a way where I questioned the freshness. In these smaller tins I have experienced 100% consistency in the potency and blend of the flavor from one end of the first tin to the last of the sixth tin. This is the only way and kind of tea I order tea now.
