Questions about Good Earth Herbal & Black Tea, Sweet & Spicy, 18 Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Packaging May Vary)
Q:
What is making the product sweet? I want to make sure there are no sweeteners, including stevia, in the product.
Answer: For the "Sweet & Spicy," specifically, there is no added sweetener (at least as the FDA qualifies added "sweeteners," which would necessarily include things like Stevia and Monk Fruit). The sweetness is caused by an interaction of the various chemical derivatives from the ingredients list (cinnamon and anise seed being chief among them), as well as the natural flavor--which is a proprietary blend of botanical distillates from cinnamon and citrus rinds. So, yes, if you consider essential oils to be "natural," then the sweetening component is also.
Answer: The following is from their website (http://goodearth.com/home/in-the-know): "What makes Good Earth tea taste so sweet? Our teas do not contain sugar or any artificial sweeteners. For many of the sweet-tasting Good Earth teas, the sweet taste is created from the combination of natural ingredients. Some teas contain stevia, a naturally derived sweetener, used with the right combination of ingredients to create the taste."
Answer: I'm with you; I don't want any sweeteners and I don't think there are any. The package ingredient list says: Black Tea, Natural Flavor, Rosehip, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, Chamomile, Peppermint, Jasmine Green Tea, Anise Seed, Ginger Root, Orange Peel, and Orange Oil. That's it. I think the Cinnamon and Anise Seed play a large role in the sweetness. The only thing suspicious to me is the 'natural flavor' but I think they have to list things like sugar, Stevia, Aspartame, etc.
Answer: I tired emailing the company and got a spam rejection message back. I found this article from a person who contacted the company and was refused information: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/the-sweet-beet/natural-herbal-tea_b_836251.html
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Cinnamon bark, when cooked a long time, exudes a clear gel that is sweet. If it were stevia, it would be sweet from the start and have a taste to it. This tea grows sweeter and spicier with long steeping. I think it is cinnamon extract. Yay!!
Answer: The online description shows stevia is an ingredient. See below:
Answer: The natural flavor is a blend of refined essential oils, including cinnamon and orange peel. If you've ever tried tasting these pure essential oils, that's what they taste like - a drop of cinnamon oil is sweeter than red hot candies.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: As several others have listed the ingredients, all I can tell you is that we have been drinking it for 35 years and there are no sweeteners in it. It is the spices used in the ingredients that give you the sweetness.
Q:
Does this tea have ascorbic acid or any form of Vitamin C in it. thanks, Marcy
Answer: No mention of ascorbic acid/vitamin C on the box or on the company website.
Answer: Hello! I do not see indications of Vitamin C or ascorbic acid. The box says, "Green tea, natural flavors, hibiscus, elderberries, blackberry leaves, licorice root, pomegranate flowers, acerola cherry juice." I hope this helps you...
Answer: The ingredients as listed are green tea, natural flavors, hibiscus, elderberries, blackberry leaves, licorice root, pomegranate flowers, acerola cherry juice. It does not list vitamin c or ascorbic acid anywhere on the box.
Answer: Ingredients listed: green tea, natural flavors, hibiscus, elderberries, blackberry leaves, licorice root, pomegranate flowers, acerola cherry juice. They state no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. You can contact them at www.goodearth.com or 888-625-8227
Answer: Hibiscus is high in Vitamin C
Answer: Not listed on box as vitamin C, but does say "unbleached teabag", "kosher", "solar energy driven", "no msg", "no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives". My note: Really, really good tea!!
Answer: I don't believe that it does, or not enough for them to mention it on their package. The total ingredient list is as follows:
Answer: this is all the tea has in it - Green tea, pomegranate and cherry flavors with other natural flavors, hibiscus, elderberry, blackberry leaf, licorice root, pomegranate and acerola cherry. Contains no sugar, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. A natural source of antioxidants.
Answer: The ingredients are listed as: Green tea, hibiscus, natural flavors, blackberry leaf, elderberry, licorice root, pomegranate flower, pomegranate, acerola cherry juice.
Answer: There is no indication on the box other than the components of the tea.
Q:
Is this the same tea that used to come in a cream box with a farmer of some sort on it?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes and no. It is the newest version of the Good Earth "Original Sweet and Spicy" that came in the box with the farmer on it (which was the same as the restaurants in California started in the 1970's). However, the company has changed ownership and has also changed the packaging and the ingredients. Most who have enjoyed the original tea for decades, now dislike this new recipe.
Answer: I still have 2 boxes of the Good Earth ORIGINAL Sweet & Spicy Herb Tea (caffeine free), in the beige box w brown lettering and a picture of 2 natives harvesting the beans. It is HERBAL so it is CAFFEINE FREE, NOT DECAF. INGREDIENTS: Rooibos (Masai), Rose Hips, Chamomile, Cinnamon, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Papaya leaf, Anise, Orange Peel, Ginger, Artificial and Natural Flavors - seem to be the same ingredients listed for this product. The beige box says "Contains no sugar, caffeine, artificial colors or preservatives. This original box gives a web addresses of goodearth.com and Santa Cruz CA.
Answer: The Good Earth company did used to have a different logo. They did change logos a few years ago. I believe the small Good Earth Company was acquired by a larger tea company, which was a good time for logo change.
Answer: Not sure. Box use to be burgundy tones.
Answer: Pretty sure it is, google image search "good earth tea" shows the purple packaging and the prior beige packaging.
Answer: They have changed the packaging, and I don't recall the previous images
Answer: Not to my knowledge
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
Is this the same tea that was served at the old "Good Earth" resturants ? That was some good stuff.
Answer: Yes! My favorite tea in the world.
Answer: Yes, good Earth Restaurant in Cupertino,CA.. same great tea
Answer: I don't know about the restaurant....but this is wonderful tea! Strong and spicy with lots of cinnamon! I add a little bit of Stevia to really bring out the spicy flavor. I recommend this tea!
Answer: Yes, it is.
Q:
18 count tea bag pack of 6. What is this? 18 bags or 6. Doesnt make sense $1.65 an ounce
Answer: There are 18 bags in a box. 6 boxes for this price. It is a very good deal, much better than the grocery stores around here. Even better than Walmart.
Answer: you get 18 bags per box and it comes with 6 boxes. The tea is wonderful.
Answer: 18 tea bags in a box. You get 6 boxes in your order
Answer: 6 boxes with 18 bags each
Answer: 6 boxes with 18 teabags in each box.
Answer: When I purchased the tea it was a total 6 boxes.
Q:
does this tea have caffeine?
Answer: They sell a caffeinated and a decaffeinated version. For decaffeinated, go here: http://www.amazon.com/Good-Earth-Organic-Caffeine-Sweet/dp/B00113J9C0/ref=pd_sim_gro_2
Answer: no it does not have caffeine. there used to be a "caffeine" version of it but this is not it.
Answer: I doesn't say specifically, but I assume it does since it contains black tea. Also they carry another almost identical box that says "caffeine free" just below the orange "sweet & spicy" label.
Answer: No, it's caffeine free....
Answer: YES, the Black Tea version is rated with caffeine. I went to the Good Earth Tea website and they said it’s caffeine leve was a 2 out of 3 on their scale. The no caffeine version of the tea is the in same color box, but contains no black tea and say CAFFEINE FREE on the front. Look carefully when making your purchase.
Answer: There used to be two kinds: with caffeine, and caffeine free. I have always ordered the caffeine free because I used to like it in the evening.
Answer: No. It is caffeine free.
Answer: No caffeine. I buy the caffeine-free original. I think they have options with caffeine, too.
Answer: it is labeled caffeine free. it is a very spicy tea and I like it alot.
Answer: No, although they do sell a caffeinated version
Q:
is this different than the tea they sell at walmart? online at walmart its 2.50 why so expensive here
Answer: Yes, it is the same tea but this price here is for a case, 6 boxes. The prices vary from vender to vender. Here it breaks down to about $4 a box. There is another vender on the page now that is having a year end sale. Even with shipping that breaks down to about $1.00 a box, better than Walmart. Great tea! Worth shopping for a good price. We love buying by the case with 3 tea drinkers in our home that all love Sweet and Spicy Regular. We don't care for decaffeinated which is what our local stores sell.
Answer: I didn't know they sold it at Walmart. I imagine it's the same. Might be more because of Amazon Prime, but not sure. It's GREAT tea wherever you get it from.
Answer: I don't know about walmart...however this product is absolutely delicious and I live in a small town...so the delivery is nice! I shop at Walmart as little as possible... Also how much do you pay for gas to Walmart?
Q:
Are the teabags induvidually packaged?
Answer: It's not loose leaf tea, if that's what you're asking? There are 18 individual tea bags per box. But no, the teabags are not separated from each other within the box.
Answer: Yes, they are individually packaged.
Q:
Does this tea contain sugar ?
Answer: There is no sugar listed in the ingredients. While it's not bitter-tasting without sweetener, I use a drop or two of honey in my tea; it seems to enhance the flavor of the spices.
Answer: there is no sugar. this is the best tea i have ever had. not bitter. has naturally sweet taste, but, NO sugar, only herbs.
Answer: No sugar, it is naturally sweet. This is a wonderful smelling and strong tasting tea. I love it and so does everyone I introduce it to.
Q:
is this the same Good Earth Super Green Tea in a different package? I like a super green tea not just a ordinary green tea
Answer: No! It has many similar ingredients, but tastes very different. They have added a few strong flavors (licorice root and others) and also have added stevia, a natural sugar alternative. This tea is exceptionally sweet. I would suggest trying lipton's green tea mandarin orange flavor as a substitute.
Answer: Honestly, I don't know the answer to that ... I just took a look at the ingredients and they look pretty close but this Matcha Maker has much more other "stuff" (which, I didn't like) than Super Green Tea, so I would assume it's not the same one ... This has very strong sweet aftertaste from stevia and licorice.
Answer: Never tried the one pictured, Matcha Maker. I love the Good Earth Green Tea with Lemon Grass. They have changed the packaging on it (it's now a purple and green box) but the tea is the same.
Answer: No, this Matcha tastes like licorice. We really disliked it and are disappointed that the super green tea is no longer available.
Answer: Yes the tea is very different and i am upset. I ordered this thinking it was the same one i bought at Target but when i opened it the package was different but the front of the box said almost the same thing. The taste is not the same and i bought six boxes.
Answer: This is the "lemongrass" good earth green tea. The pkg looks different from your picture. Hope this helps.
Answer: I only buy Good Earth Decaf Green Tea with Lemon grass. I don't believe that this is the same product
Answer: Have not tasted this tea.
Answer: NO! My wife, who drinks the stuff, ended up giving this other version away. I ordered the original version she likes from LuckyVitamin.com
Answer: I'm sorry I don't know? The package is different.
Q:
Are there messages on the tag on the tea bags?
Answer: Yes, uplifting messages on each
Q:
Is this a decaf tea?
Answer: Usually if it’s caffeine free it says so. This has black tea leaves in it so I’m not sure it’s caffeine free. Might be worth looking it up on their website.
Answer: It’s caffeine free which means you can drink it before bed and get a good night sleep. One thing that I did not expect about this tea is this. When I drink this sweet spicy tea before bed. Not only does it cause relaxation, but it clears sinus build up in the sinus system through the night. All of the mucous clears from my head by morning time. I keep the tea bag in the cup the whole time I’m drinking so it’s spicier. That was a nice added bonus for me.
Answer: It is not decaf because it is HERBAL and CAFFEINE FREE.
Answer: I don't think it is decaf, otherwise the box would list it. I found this flavor and smell to be overpoweringly obnoxious. I was surprised at how strong it was even in the envelope.
Answer: No. It is not.
Q:
I want to purchase Good Earth Sweet and Spicy Tea in rather large amount for a gift for a friend in Winnipeg, Canada, can you send it to her as a gift
Answer: yes we can.
Q:
I've had the non-organic which is delicious. Does the organic taste the same?
Answer: I find all forms of Good Earth tea now taste horrible. Very sad about it.
Answer: I can't tell the difference
Answer: Yes, same great quality.
Q:
Trying to purchase this sweet and spicy with caffeine. There are only options for the green tea?
Q:
What is the "natural flavor" listed on the box?
Answer: The company is making a distinction between their previous tea with the same name and the new version. The former tea came in a gorgeous box with a painting of fruit through it, but it contained preservatives. This one is completely natural. See description of tea for specific leaves, fruit and spices.
Answer: My guess would be Stevia... I LOVE this tea, and there is no way based on the other ingredients listed that it could be as sweet as it is without some outside help. Given that we know it's sugar-free, and that whatever it is is "natural," my deduction is Stevia or some other sweetener.
Answer: It has some cinnamon and maybe orange flavor but it is spicy and sweet tea.
Answer: They don't tell you, and the regulations are very loose in this area. Anything that has any source in "nature" as opposed to being created in a laboratory -- even if the original substance has since been extensively modified -- can legally be described as natural. So if they took, for example, blueberry extract and then added all sorts of chemicals to it, they could still call it a natural flavor.
Answer: No idea, but it tastes like chai spices.
Answer: I believe it is referring to cinnamon.
Answer: I'm not sure. Check on the Good Earth website. If you click on Satisfaction guaranteed, there is a place to ask questions at the bottom.
Answer: Sorry, I don't know. You may want to contact the company to ensure you're getting the correct information.
Answer: I have no idea. Suggest you contact the company direct for the answer.
Q:
I love this tea, but I really would like the buy just the herbal version without the black tea. Is that available through pantry?
Q:
Is this tea keto friendly?
Answer: All natural, no sugar added, very low calories...check the natural sugars before deciding to add to you KETO Diet.
Answer: It's delicious
Q:
how many calories does a tea bag has ? It testes way too sweet to be low calorie
Answer: 3 calories the sweetness comes from ginger root and orange peel flavoring
Q:
I had the chai with mango flavor. This has a mango pictured on the front. Is this the mango chai tea?
Answer: No this tea is cinnamon based.
Q:
Do these teas contain any sweetener other than natural stevia?
Answer: I don’t think that there is anything unnatural about this tea. It is delicious and quite refreshing. My family is composed of coffee drinkers and yet we are all happy to switch (on occasion) to this tea. Good stuff!
Answer: No
Q:
Is this organic ?
Answer: This particular product is not organic. We do have an organic variation of this product available on Amazon as well, though! Look for the packaging that shows 'organic' in grey in the middle.
Answer: According to their website, the caffeine-free one is organic. The one with black tea does not have organic on the box. So the black tea must not be organic. I love both of them.
Answer: Yes- the box reads organic-caffeine free
Q:
is this tea grown in China (all black/green tea from China contains lead and other heavy metals)?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Does this contain stevia?
Answer: No, it contains no sweetners. Naturally just plain flavorful. My favorite for decades. Also makes a great iced spice tea in the summer.
Answer: No Stevia.
Answer: No. I'm not sure how it's sweetened. I have been told that they do not use sugar. I love it. It's my favorite tea.
Q:
Do you have Sweet & Spicy that in “not” caffeine free, available?
Q:
Is this tea Decaffeinated?
Answer: The tea is listed as (flavored green tea) no listing about decaffeinated. Most if not all green tea is decaf?
Answer: No, but they do offer the same blend in a decaffinated version.
Answer: Yes
Q:
is this being sold by the manufacturer or by a reseller?
Answer: Each item when looked up by Amazon customers is indicated whether it’s sold directly by the manufacturer or a distributor (middle man) or by Amazon Fulfillment.
Q:
I’ve asked this before...18ct per box. offer states pack of six (6). i received only one box...??!!!! can i get the other 5 i paid for??!!!
Answer: There should have been six boxes , each holding 18 teabags.
Q:
Box I have says 2013 still a a few bags and they taste great, whats changed
Answer: I just started drinking this tea in 2017, so I am not sure if anything has changed as in taste wise or how they make it. It's just probably the design of the box that has changed.
Answer: You can see the additional green, two-leaf graphic added to their logo. The new caffeine-free tea version tastes like it has too much chamomile in it or something. It kind of tastes like dirt. The version with the new logo and caffeine, though, seems to be okay.
Answer: As far as I can tell, only the box.
Answer: Nothing but the package
Q:
Is this the same as herbal and black tea?
Answer: No, according to the label, this is only "herbal tea."
Answer: Yes it is. The box says so. Additionally the ingredient list state that "black tea" is the first ingredient. (In case you're wondering black tea will have caffeine in it unless labeling specifically states that it's been decaffeinated.)
Answer: Yes - this is a decaffeinated herbal tea - one of the most pungent / yet not too spicy, of any tea I've ever had. It stands up to a 20-oz cup of hot water
Answer: No
Q:
what are all the ingredients are in your organic good earth sweet & spicey tea and is it in a mesh bag?"
Answer: Ingredients
Answer: Ingredients are in a regular tea bag...looks like the ingredients are listed in the other answer. The tea is awesome, I drink it with a smidge of honey and poor it over ice..my favorite!
Answer: For the record I did not buy the Good Earth Sweet & Spicy cinnamon with the black tea. Mine is plain Sweet & Spicy cinnamon tea. The ingredients can be found on the amazon product webpage!! Too many ingredients for me to list them. And mine product comes in a regular paper type bag, not nylon mesh.
Answer: The ingredients are listed in at least 2 places in the description. And the tea is in silk sachets, which is like fancy cloth mesh.
Q:
Where can I get sweet &spicy pods for keurig?
Q:
Is this the same as the Good Earth Original?
Answer: I haven't ordered this particular one, so I can't give any feedback. I'm sure it's just as good as the others. You can't go wrong with Good Earth teas.
Answer: Yes it is. I was so happy to finally find some. They also carry it at Winco I found out. But, this was a better deal.
Answer: I believe that it is.
Q:
is there mango flavor in this tea?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No. Mostly cinnamon. They do make a mango tea, and it, too, is delicious!
Q:
is This Good For Wrinkles?
Answer: Tea good for wrinkles????
Q:
Anyone knows an email address for good earth tea? their website is not available. their ssl certificate expired. thanks!
Answer: https://www.goodearth.com/sweet-spicy-products.html
Q:
Why does this say Sweet and Spicy “Decaf” under flavor?
Answer: Because it is a decaf tea and the spices are similar to those in a spice cake and make it slightly sweet.
Answer: There are 2 types of this tea. One is regular and the other is decaf. The boxes are very similar and telling the difference can be difficult unless you're really looking for which type you want. I've had both regular and decaf and they are both very good.
Answer: Mine does not say decaf nor does box shown
Q:
Is this listing for the one box for sweet _ spicy or for peppermint? the button says peppermint but the page listing is for sweet & spicy. confusing.
Answer: When I ordered the product it was the sweet an spicy that was delivered which is what I wanted. I dont remember if the button stated peppermint.
Answer: I got the sweet & Spicy
Answer: Sweet and spicy.
Q:
what are all the ingredients are in your organic good earth sweet & spicey tea and is it in a mesh bag?"
Answer: The ingredients are listed in at least 2 places in the description. And the tea is in silk sachets, which is like fancy cloth mesh.
Q:
what are any green teas that are caffeine free?
Answer: There are lots of them. Enter decaf green tea to see the variety. Hope this helps.
Q:
Is it 6 boxes of the sweet and spicy tea?
Answer: I purchased and I received a box containing 6 individual boxes and each box contained 18 tea bags.
Answer: Yes, it’s all the same tea
Answer: Yes six boxes
Q:
Why do you not sell these in pods for Keurig anymore?
Answer: I don't sell them. I bought the sweet & Spicy organic caffeine free bags. I don't think the Keurig (which I have) can steep the tea long enough in the pod to get the intense flavor you get from a tea bag.
Q:
The listing shows the flavor as "peppermint". picture and description are for the regular good earth herbal & black tea, sweet & spicy. which one?
Answer: https://smile.amazon.com/Good-Earth-Herbal-Black-Packaging/dp/B000F70R9C
Answer: I was commenting on the sweet and spicy tea, which is delicious. I haven't tried the peppermint tea.
Answer: The sweet and spicy is my favorite. Sounds like the description is messed up
Answer: Several flavors are available and all are great.
Answer: Great
Q:
Can you buy this tea in bulk (not in tea bags)? If not are there any similar teas you can buy in bulk?
Q:
Does this tea have sugar in it - it tastes extremely sweet
Answer: The Ingredients consist of: Black Tea, Natural Flavor, Rosehip, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, Chamomile, Peppermint, Jasmine Green Tea, Anise Seed, Ginger Root, Orange Peel and Orange Oil.
Answer: There is no sugar in it. The sweetness is derived from the combination of flavorings used. Each by themselves don't do much but, combined they have a synergistic effect. The longer they sit the sweeter it gets, at least in the caffeine free variety.
Answer: It does have suger in it and extremely sweet.
Answer: According to their website, it contains "black tea, natural flavor, rosehip, lemongrass, cinnamon, chamomile, peppermint, jasmine green tea, anise seed, ginger root, orange peel, orange oil". It's probably the orange that gives it the sweetness.
Answer: The box says it only has natural sweet flavors and spice that give it its flavor. All ingredients are shown on box.
Q:
Do the tea bags have micro plastics?
Answer: No.
Q:
I want to order sweet and spicy tea that is not decaf. however, there is an error or contradiction on the order site. can you fix this?
Answer: The herbs in 'Sweet & Spicy' do not have caffeine.
Q:
What are the so-called "natural flavors"? That's pretty vague.
Answer: Yeah, “natural flavors“ are always a bit of a question. The ingredients are rosehip, lemongrass, cinnamon, chamomile, peppermint, anise seed, ginger root, orange peel, and orange oil. The teas are black tea and jasmine green tea. Hope this helps.
Answer: Good Earth sweet and spicy has a cinnamon and spice, a natural sweetness. Really flavorful.
Answer: been drinking this for ten years. It has very intense cinnamon flavor.
Answer: The package says "Bursts of sweet orange tangles with spicy cinnamon in a naturally caffeine free Roobios red tea infusion."
Answer: It's very "cinnamon-ey". I like it a lot! It's one of the few teas I drink that I don't add any sweetener to.
Q:
Does this tea have Stevia in it? I don't see it in the list of ingredients on the organic version .
Answer: I do not see Stevia listed as an ingredient. I buy the sweet and spicy.
Answer: The only ingredient not fully explained is 'natural flavor.' Stevia has an aftertaste for me, and I don't taste it in this tea, so my guess is no, but I would ask the manufacturer to be sure.
Answer: I've not purchased the Sweet & Spicy, but the pomegranate burst, and the last ingredient on the list is stevia.
Answer: No i never saw that name the ingredients is all natural i been drinking for years,
Answer: Not this one. It's naturally sweet. Their chai and matcha have sweetener in them. Yuck!
Answer: Not sure, but mine had a moldy taste this time.
Q:
It says it comes as 6pack. So is that 6 packs with 18 tea bags in each?
Answer: I would have to say yes. All of the Good Earth tea that I have purchased is 18 bags per box. When it lists 3 or 6 pack, I have always goten that many boxes.
Answer: Yes. There are 6 boxes with 18 tea bags in each box. A great value!
Answer: Yes. Six packages, and in each there are 18 individually-packed tea bags. 108 tea bags in total.
Answer: Yes, it's 6 boxes of 18 tea bags
Answer: Yes, 6 boxes of 18 bags.
Answer: It contains a box with 6 packages of 18 bags like the ones you would buy in the store. My wife loves these and its convenient not to have to keep putting them on the shopping list.
Answer: Yes, that is correct for a total of 108 tea bags. Super delicious and worth the price.
Answer: Yes. Each pack has 18 tea bags.
Product reviews of Good Earth Herbal & Black Tea, Sweet & Spicy, 18 Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Packaging May Vary)
Sawduster : Caffeinated
I ordered three packages of 6, caffeine free, tea bags and received two packages of 6, caffeine free tea bags on one package of 6 caffeinated tea bags. Neither my wife nor I checked the labelling on all the packages but one day wife complained about palpitations she had been experiences for several days. She then checked the packaging and discovered the one with caffeinated tea bags and through all the remaining caffeinated packages away. The message should be obvious, please check the labels on your packages before using. Fortunately, my wife palpitations stopped as soon as she stopped using caffeinated tea. Because she discarded the caffeinated package we did not return it for a refund and accepted the financial loss.
dioel : Caution: Not Designed to Taste like the Non-Organic Version
I love Good Earth sweet and spicy tea and have for years. I figured the organic version would be roughly the same.
Nope. I had other people try it as well and it distinctly tastes the way potting soil smells. And very light on cinnamon not that that matters much given the dirt taste.
I emailed the company and clearly identified the issue including the soil-flavor details, requesting a replacement 6-pack. Instead they explained that “the Organic versions of the GE teas were meant to be different tasting from their conventional counterpoints.”
So that taste was apparently deliberate and not a bad batch of tea.
Fstfwrd : Not as Spicy as expected.
We have bought this same product except it was not Organic at Costco before and it was much spicier. Not sure that the Organic is not as spicy, or they have just toned it down, but that is the only difference in the two. It is OK and we will keep it and use it, but my wife is a little disappointed, but she will live. The packaging and delivery time were great.
Vanuko : Ingredients on Amazon omit alot
I'm disappointed in the ingredients on the actual product including slot that is omitted in the ingredient list on Amazon. I've only tried the mango this far, and while good earth claims to use no artificial flavors or sweeteners, it tastes like there's an artificial sweetener in there. Kind of powdery... I drink alot of things that contain stevia, and the sweetener in the tea doesnt taste the same. I'll probably drink just because Amazon charges shipping for returns. But I wont be re ordering. I try to stay away from ingredients such as natural flavor. The mango tea lists natural flavor 2x on the packaging. I haven't tried the others yet so I hope they're better.
Mary L. Barrow : Same tea as I remember a young adult in the 70s
My mom and I use to go the a Good Earth restaurant in Palo Alto for sandwiches and tea back in the 70s. It was fairly new back then but this tea always tasted so good. I continued to drink it but now it is hard to find in the general stores and markets. I was so happy to find it here. I was a little hesitant to buy it not knowing if it was going to be the same tea I remembered. I was so happy when I tasted my first cup of it. It tastes exactly as I remembered it. It is sweet and a little spicy. This blend has no caffeine in it which is perfect for evening drinking. You have to pay attention when ordering it because there is another blend of the sweet and spicy that does have caffeine in it. I will reorder it when I run out.

M. Hill : Good Earth Sweet and Spicy Herbal and Black Tea
Although there are many ingredients in this tea, including black and jasmine green tea, chamomile, lemon grass, peppermint, anise, orange peel and oil along with ginger root, the overwhelming flavor is sweet strong cinnamon. This tea is a long-time favorite that I’ve been purchasing for years since a visit to one of their restaurants while on vacation.
The tea is as good iced as it is hot. Each box contains eighteen individually wrapped tea bags. The box I received has an “enjoy by” date is 19 months in the future. This is a product not always available locally, so it is great to find it here.
D K Wilson : Did the formula change? So disappointing!
I love this tea and drink it as my exclusive drink. I love it because I don't eat or drink any sugar or sugar substitute and this is my one guilty pleasure. Deliciously sweet without any sugar or sugar substitutes. I go through a couple of boxes of six every 2-3 weeks. The last two times I ordered this tea the flavor had changed - weak and less sweet. The first time I thought it was a fluke or a knock-off. When I ordered it this time, it was even more disappointing. So weak and tasteless - like all the tea bags had already been used once, dried and resold. I'm so sad. I hope Good Earth is reading these ads and does something about it.
Amazon Customer : EXCELLENT FLAVOR
This is THE BEST tasting tea!!!
The flavor is bold. No wimpy hint of taste in this tea. The cinnamon is bold but not overpowering. All of the ingredients compliment each other.
I like to drink a lot of tea and hot tea even more so in this frigid weather. This is by far, my very favorite.
Kimberly : Yes s tea I enjoy that is fabulous.
Oh my gosh it is like a party going on on my tastebuds. This tea is so yummy. Definitely feels like something I would have on a cold fall day. All the cinnamon and other spices are great together. The first day I revived the tea I had two cups.......(That is how great it is). Yes I recommend this item. Yes I will be buying it again. I have a feeling I will I will drink the 6 boxes of tea really fast. Yum
Kim Wettroth : Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Original - Did Recipe CHANGE? Anyone else have this problem?
I have been drinking this caffeinated tea for over 10 years, always loved the strong flavor. I usually buy 6-12 boxes at a time as I drink every day. My last 6 boxes from Amazon seller had absolutely NO FLAVOR. It is weak, flavorless. Did the recipe change or did I get a bad batch? It’s basically flavorless. And yes, I brew as per instructions. Box embossed “ Enjoy by 29 JAN 20”; The box design is new style. Every box in my last order basically has NO TASTE or FRAGRANCE. I wrote Good Earth directly Oct 2018 to inquire if they changed recipe - all Angela from GET had to say was thanks for contacting us, for replacement or a refund we advise that you contact Amazon, will forward carton info to quality insurance. Has anyone else had this same problem? If so, has anyone found a close substitute to replicate the flavors from the old version of Sweet & Spicy [caffeinated]. I am so disappointed.

brontefan : Popular with My Guests and Me
I discovered this product at a Jane Austen tea at my local library. There, is was historically incorrect. However, it is very tasty, and it was perfect for serving at a sprinkle I recently hosted. (I also gave boxes of it out to the guests, one of whom has a teenaged son who drank two cups of the tea within hours.) This tea is perfect for spicing up a cold day, and it's caffeine-free. It is pre-sweetened, so you may want to read the ingredients list before buying.
Sheila Malone : Fabulous Tea for people who enjoy their Tea as it comes in multipacks at a terrific price!
I drink tea all day long in the Spring, Summer and fall I drink it cold and in the winter I drink it hot. Years ago I lived in Seattle and there was a tea shop in the Public Market called the Good Earth where my husband and I would stop everyday and have a cup of their tea and a sweet. They had some of the best teas in the whole world and when I was pregnant with my daughter my doctor had me go caffeine free as I had a congenital heart condition. We moved from Seattle however I never missed the flavor of their teas. Many years later living in Maine with my kids and Grand kids I discovered a box of Good Earth Tea and when I read the carton I realized this was exactly the same Good Earth as I remembered so many years before. Although I like most of their teas my favorite is the caffeine free Sweet and Spicy however it has always been hard to find so when I found it on Amazon at such a price I was really pleased. I highly recommend this tea to anyone and if you enjoy black tea this flavor comes in both caffeine free and black tea. I highly recommend this tea to anyone who enjoys the taste of a really good tea and it comes in multi packs so you can buy enough to last a while at a fabulous price!
A customer : Used to be good
My latest order is terrible! This tastes as bad as if not worse than the organic version. There's no sweet, no spicy, just bitter. I wonder if it was stored improperly. I have been drinking this tea for years and aside from the time Amazon messed up my order and sent me organic it's been great. The use by date on my last one was 30JUL17 and the new one is 03DEC17. There's nothing on the box that says its a new version, but it's nothing like my last one.
Mo Lot : Beware: contains stevia (false description by seller)
I am very disappointed because the ingredients listed on the Amazon description by the seller do not match the ingredients on the box. The seller omitted that two of these teas contain stevia and all four contain “natural flavors”. I stopped drinking this tea years ago because of the addition of stevia (which gives me headaches) and other flavors, and only ordered this because the description did not include those items. So frustrating and a wasted purchase! I’ve attached photos of actual ingredients for future buyers.
ELLE DUB : Disgusting Flavor
I guess it's my fault for blindly buying 6 boxes of tea I'd never tasted before. I saw it was Matcha so I expected plain Matcha green tea. Instead I received stevia laced, overly sweet and putrid tea. It's undrinkable. My husband who has a less discriminating palate hated it too. $15 in the trash.
Kindle Customer : Lack of Caffeine immaterial
I have consumed part of three cups of coffee in my life.....thus required a different nectar with which to pass the day. Tea has played that role for nearly four score and seven years. With age and the concomitant bodily failures that inevitably occur, I have reduced my consumption and sought to reduce the caffeine in my diet. While iced tea is my preference these days, I still have one large glass of tea after dinner. This product has become a favorite one, sweetened with one of the artificial concoctions, it.....to borrow a phrase from earlier years of a well known drink....really hits the spot. Tastes vary so between people as to make it impossible to suggest that you will like it............all I will assert is that I do.
Supporting Role : THE GOOD EARTH BLACK TEA IS PERFECT
I used to love the Good Earth Restaurant in Pasadena California and the best part was the incredible sweet & spicy herbal tea. I was so sad when my job got transferred to San Diego. Then I was devastated when the restaurant closed. I have missed that memory for many years. But now the best part of the memory is restored through this Good Earth Black Tea. But I don't think the decaf version is quite right.
KW : Undrinkable since recipe change.
I have been drinking this tea all day, every day for 10+ years. Fast forward to the last 5 boxes I’ve purchased that had to be tossed. Good Earth changed the recipe, and it is nothing short of disgusting. Yes, DISGUSTING. I’m not exaggerating in how awful the new recipe or blend is. Please save yourselves the trouble and learn from my mistakes...DO NOT BUY this product until they clear up this issue. The new recipe for this tea was/is undrinkable with a horrific chemical smell and taste, and you will realize this the moment it touches your tongue. It caused myself and other reviewers stomach problems. I’m still hoping this was just a fluke and a bad batch from their distributor, but reading other reviewers reaffirmed what I feared...this new tea is their new recipe, and it’s just terrible.
Being hopeful, I thought it was a bad batch, so I even tried buying them from different grocery stores, and had the same problem. The product just stinks now. The Good Earth Sweet and Spicy new recipe is absolutely, unequivocally undrinkable & will very likely make you have stomach problems as it did with myself and other reviewers.
Pay attention to the tag attached to the string. If it is not plain paper, and is instead the new shimmery, synthetic, sticky, gooey tag, toss immediately &/or contact Amazon for a refund.
I’m hoping enough loyal customers will speak out and help Good Earth to realize that bean counters will run any business to the ground. This product will be discontinued if this new recipe remains because it is absolute garbage now that they’ve tried to save a few nickels and dimes to cut costs and change ingredients. Furthermore, no new customers will be repeat buyers with how horrific this product tastes now. Loyal customers are willing to pay more to maintain quality ingredients and maintain the consistency of the product. Good Earth needs to realize they will absolutely lose their customer base and their business over these changes.
Save your money. Do not buy this product. It has gone downhill and Good Earth needs to bring back the original recipe and remember the basics. Business 101: Quality and ingredients matter. Yes, I said it. Consumers know when you’re cutting corners to save money. Your loyal customers know you’ve adulterated the original recipe with lower quality, undrinkable, unnatural, chemical tasting ingredients that I wouldn’t feel safe recommending that anyone drink after the stomach issues I have had and other reviewers have had while trying to keep an open mind by attempting to drink this new recipe. Save yourself the trouble and throw it away.
If anyone at Good Earth is reading this, please please PLEASE bring back the original recipe and ingredients. Your brand and product were known for its consistent quality and unbelievable taste. Drinking your original tea was an experience that gave many of us a moment to experience gratitude and stillness in our busy lives, but it also happened to be unique, fragrant, delicious and refreshing product that was a part of our daily rituals and lives. You will have to discontinue your product at some point if you continue down this path because it is terrible now. Quality, consistency and ingredients matter. Your loyal customers matter. You are better than this, Good Earth.
Maureen S. : This is the best tea ever!
The Good Earth Restaurant was a beloved restaurant for many years in Cupertino, California. Best breakfasts accompanied with this tea. Then suddenly the restaurant closed and gone was the tea. 15+ years later I did a Google search and viola, Amazon had the tea. It's sweet and spicy without any sugar or artificial sweeteners or other artificial flavors. Great for iced tea and hot tea too! Can't stop drinking it. It's my morning beverage everyday.
$BullsEye$ : Really tried to like this tea.
I really wanted to like this tea, first time I tried it I felt it had a very intense smell ( felt very chemical like), I couldn't take more than 2 sips. I tried it again just to ensure I am giving it a due chance, but same result, it's has a very strong chemical odor and taste which I don't like at all.
Amazon Customer : Very nice set
Just got this delivered and tried all the teas out. I liked them all (Sweet and Spicy, Sweet and Spicy decaf, Mango, and Chai). They were all tasty and naturally sweet. I didn't have to add anything, although I do like to take the Chai with a little milk or cream.
I like variety so this is a great pack. I only wish for a bit better way to get in larger quantities and better bulk pricing, but for what I paid it'll keep me going for a month at least.
If you care, the packaging is all paper and there are no staples for the bags or tags.
Kathy Parsons : Excellent price for excellent tea!
Good Earth Sweet and Spicy decaffeinated tea is my go-to tea when I want something hot to sip on in the afternoon. I can't handle caffeine after about 2 PM (I can't sleep), so this tea is perfect - spicy enough to be refreshing but not too sweet. I don't add anything to it but hot water. The tea bags also make outstanding iced tea, and I often make that it a big jug when we're having guests over. I was buying the boxes of tea from our local grocery store, but Amazon's price is so much better. I love this stuff!
Fstfwrd : Not as Spicy as expected.

Stefan Kaufmann : Good Earth's turn for the worse
My wife and I have been loyal Good Earth drinkers for more than five years. The decaf version - we've been drinking both - started to decline in quality a couple of years ago. It got blander, less aromatic. We had a hard time getting used to that - but nothing prepared us for our most recent delivery, in late summer 2017. The decaf has a strong flavor and smell again, but it's a nasty, revolting, chemical stench. I can't begin to describe it. We'll have to throw it all out. You recognize these disgusting new batches by the tags at the individual bags. They are not made of paper, but of some shiny synthetic material. They don't have those more or less witty one-liners printed on them. Stay away from them.
Nalita : Sweet & Spicy - ORGANIC
It's interesting. I bought the *not organic* sweet & spicy tea from my local Grocery Outlet and it was the best tea I'd ever had. You don't need any sweetener at all - it just brews (pour boiling water over and steep while covered) to perfect cinnamon deliciousness. So, like we all do, I came onto Amazon to buy more, and found that it comes in an "organic" version. Well, friends, unfortunately whatever this company adds to the not organic brand makes a world of difference. The organic sweet & spicy tea tastes earthy with a hint of cinnamon. It's not sweet, either. I won't be buying the organic version again, unfortunately. On the bright side, I've subscribed to the not organic sweet & spicy kind!

Vizslas : Inconsistent taste and bags break
Not sure if this is a cost reduction artifact but the bags are flimsy and break 1/5 cups. Some boxes are 'off' on taste.
Kat : Great for Iced Tea
I brew this stuff up by the quart. 4 bags in a quart jar of boiling water. I add about a teaspoon of sugar to really bring out the flavor. It's still good without the sugar, but it's great with it. I keep it in the fridge and when I pour a glass of it I add just a touch of water. Spicy, refreshing and it helps me drink more water. Love that it is caffeine free!

Sarah : Best tea I’ve ever had
I had bought this brand & flavor from a local health food store, but they didn’t carry it ongoing. I was worried when I saw other reviews saying that the flavor wasn’t what they remembered when they bought it on Amazon, but mine were spot on. I bought the 6 pack of boxes when it was on Deal of the Day & we have already gone through 2 of the boxes. This is my favorite tea & when I serve it to guests, they’re impressed, want to know what this is & where I got it, say it’s the best tea they ever tasted. It has an intense, sweet cinnamon flavor. If you’re trying to cut back on sugar, this is the perfect tea for you. Even my teen daughters will drink this with no added sugar, and that’s saying a lot. I literally pack this with me on trips. I’ve never packed tea before in my life.

Grandma Nina : I Love This Tea!
My sister introduced me to this tea combination. Sweet & Spicy flavored herbal and black tea has all natural ingredients and no sugar. I feel like I'm having a treat with nothing bad for me. Now if only they made it caffeine free so I could have it all day and evening! I bought the "case" of 6 boxes (I think that's how many were in it) and it is an excellent value. I've already given one box away since I can afford to be generous at this price.

JC : Love the tea-- arrived in crushed, open box... ?
ADORE this tea which lives up to its name, is sweet and spicy and not just 'great smelling hot water' as most herbal teas seem to be to me.
Had to take away at least one star though, because this arrived, oddly, with the tea box crushed, open at both ends, and the tea packets loose inside the padded shipping envelope. Since each packet was still sealed, I am OK with using them and not returning... but not quite sure what is going on here. I really thought about a return. Seems like the box should be sealed or something. I don't know.
Love the tea. Hate how it arrived. Amazon seems to be slipping lately.
Newby : Good, but...
I'm not sure what's been happening with the Good Earth Tea that's coming out from Amazon as of late, because it seems like the product has dropped in quality. I ordered three 20-bag boxes from one source/supplier, and it was NOT drinkable (tasted moldy or like it had been stored beside mildew, and we had to throw it out). But I absolutely LOVE this tea, so I tried again with a different supplier (this one that I'm reviewing now), and while these are definitely better (and I can at least drink the tea from these), these too still have something of a mildew taste/smell to the bags when you first open them. These are all individually wrapped, in nice, solid packaging, so they shouldn't have any loss of flavour or influence from outside flavours/aromas, but they just don't taste as good as the ones from my earlier Amazon orders. Disappointing, to say the least!
Rene : Yummy Tea! Ingredients listed in my review
I absolutely love this caffeine-free tea. It has a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. However, I have one complaint. A single tea bag contains 30mg of sodium. So, beware of how much you drink if you are on a low sodium diet.
Ingredients: Rooibos, Chicory Root, Natural Flavor, Rosehip, Cinnamon, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Chamomile, Anise Seed, Ginger Root, Orange Oil, and Orange Peel.
JaziJoi : Good Stuff ????
I tried this at my sisters salon and had to order my own. Of course I had to see if Amazon had it, and of course they did. This is the first tea that I’ve had that I do not need to add sweetener to. I do have to use two tea bags as I have a large cup that I drink out of; however, it is very tasty ???? My husband doesn’t care for it, but then again, he doesn’t like licorice. So if you don’t like the taste of licorice, which is what anise seeds taste like, this tea may not be for you. It’s a wonderful blend of anise, cinnamon, orange and cranberry. SO YUMMY! ????????????

Theodora : Check your order! Seller substituted inferior product.
The seller substituted Vanilla Chai Tea instead of my order of Sweet Chai of Mine, which I LOVE‼️
I didn’t notice the substitution until I had opened the shipment and threw away the shipping boxes.
I tried one bag and I don’t like the flavor. The “vanilla” tastes like perfume. I like vanilla and thought I’d like the tea, but it’s not good.
I wish I could return it‼️

Tulip : No Ginseng=Milder Flavor & No Sleep Disruption! But, WAIT!
I love the flavor of the original version of this tea, but I had a big problem with it: the ginseng was at least as stimulating to my brain as is caffeine (my husband and my daughter both have an issue with this as well-and they are able to sleep fine after drinking caffeine at night!). If I drank even one cup of this in the afternoon my sleep that night would be horrible all night. This organic version *does not have panax ginseng*. Just to be sure I tested some on myself, and even after drinking it in the evening I slept like a baby that night! Yes, I do notice a slight diminishment in the wonderful flavor of the original, but it is still delicious (hot or cold, and even without any sweetener). And I can drink it any time I like!!!
UPDATE: July 2012 I re-ordered this tea and there is new packaging (the purple box). It *says* "NEW LOOK! same great taste" but the ingredients label is DIFFERENT! Now there is an ambiguous "natural flavors" in the list. I do not like ambiguity in ingredient lists. I must be very careful with food ingredients for health reasons. I have contacted the company and am awaiting a reply. I really hope I will not be forced to return my order and look for an alteernative.
dioel : Caution: Not Designed to Taste like the Non-Organic Version
I love Good Earth sweet and spicy tea and have for years. I figured the organic version would be roughly the same.
Nope. I had other people try it as well and it distinctly tastes the way potting soil smells. And very light on cinnamon not that that matters much given the dirt taste.
I emailed the company and clearly identified the issue including the soil-flavor details, requesting a replacement 6-pack. Instead they explained that “the Organic versions of the GE teas were meant to be different tasting from their conventional counterpoints.”
So that taste was apparently deliberate and not a bad batch of tea.
