Handsewn Organic Tea Leaves & Real Flowers

Leaves of Art Since introducing our Flowering Tea line in 2005 it’s been a favorite gift set among tea lovers who appreciate what unfurls as Leaves of Art open up during the steeping process. After tea leaves are picked and still moist, cotton thread is used to sew them together with flowers. For a more floral flavor, tea leaves may also be scented with jasmine blossoms before sewing. Some shapes take a minute to sew while more elaborate designs containing lilies, chrysanthemum, or osmanthus flowers may take up to twelve minutes. The sewn leaves and flowers are shaped into bundles or rosettes before undergoing the usual drying and firing process. Flower tea requires boiling water for the leaves to expand into exotic shapes and exquisite flavors. | Pure Ingredients. No Compromise. We blend premium organic teas and herbs with only 100% real fruits, flowers and spices—and never any “natural” or artificial flavorings. Many tea brands use artificial or “natural” flavorings and fragrances to mask poor quality ingredients, creating intense, unnatural flavors that lack nutritional value. Numi uses only pure ingredients, straight from nature. Real fruits, flowers and spices impart nuanced, complex flavors that can’t be re-created in a lab. No flavorings mean a truly clean, transparent label. What you see on the ingredients list is what you get! | New Look, Same Great Taste! Our new design for the Flowering Tea Gift Set contains the same 6 delicious Flowering Tea blossoms and borosilicate glass tea pot in a sleek textured cardboard keepsake gift box. Some people may receive the previous version that comes in the bamboo box. We appreciate your flexibility while we transition! |

The Numi Journey
In the fall of 1999, brother and sister Ahmed and Reem had a vision-to revive the serenity, creativity, and comfort that is inspired by the simple art of tea. Both artistic souls and world explorers, the two siblings have combined their belief in the transcendental properties of tea with their individual passions for photography, art, and culture. The result of this blend was Numi Tea, a refreshing and innovative selection of teas and teasans that awaken the palate, inspire the soul, and gracefully enhance water's unique potential.

The brother and sister duo behind Numi Tea |
Ahmed, the master alchemist behind Numi's blends, discovered the calming simplicity of tea and herbal teasans while living in Prague, Czech Republic, where he co-owned and ran two teahouses. A distinguished photographer, Ahmed used his artistic and intuitive nature as a foundation for his innovative and artisan approach to the blending of teas.
Fluent in English, Arabic, French, German and Czech, Ahmed is a citizen of the world; each pot of Numi tea is an amalgamation of his worldly cultural knowledge, his in-depth understanding of teas, and his appreciation for quality.
Ahmed's sister Reem has a background that is almost as diverse as the selection of Numi teas. Before the advent of Numi, Reem, a biomedical engineer, moved to Italy to nurture her artistic aspirations. Reem has exhibited her artwork around the world in San Francisco, New York City, Melbourne, and Florence. But you don't need to be a globetrotter to admire her artwork--Reem's original paintings are also exhibited on each one of Numi's packages. Inspired by her brother's photos and by the meditative nature and timeless essence of tea, Reem painted Numi's artwork using oil on small tin plates, with imagery that evokes a slower, more contemplative way of being. Reem believes that tea, like art, has a universal essence and is a portal for self-reflection.
What started as a dream in Reem's small Oakland apartment moved to a lovely 25,000 squrare-foot space on the Oakland waterfront and has progressed into an exciting and delicious journey. Since its beginning, Numi has carved a distinct path in the U.S. tea world by introducing exotic teas such as Rooibos (Red Tea), Lemon Myrtle, Honeybush, and Dry Desert Lime, and also by offering full-leaf tea in teabags, without added oils or flavorings. Numi continues to pave the way and set new tea trends, most recently with its creation of the hand-sewn and handcrafted "Flowering Teas."

Just find some of the other larger, stronger glass pots. Some you can use on a stove. Then buy the tea by the box. You will be much happier.
Answer: The teapot is more decorative than functional. I *might* put it on a warmer, but definitely not on a stovetop.

Are the flowering teas caffeine free
Answer: They are green teas, so they are basically caffeine free. Oftentimes green tea has very small amounts of caffeine, but these are typically negligible or so small that the packaging does not even list it as containing caffeine at all.
Answer: Hi Ruth! I only know about the ones that came with the flowering tea pot, and no, those are not caffeine free. You might want to check with the manufacturer to see if other non caffeinated teas are available for this device. Bon Chance!
Answer: Since it's a mix of green tea, black tea, white tea and oolong, I would think that it is NOT caffeine free. Most black teas contain caffeine. I no longer have the tea (it was SO good) but I don't recall the box indicating it was caffeine free.
Answer: Ruth, they are not. The handsewn tea leaves are organic teas and eatable flowers. They are beautful to watch and taste wonderful. Hope you enjoy.
Answer: No they are not caffeine free. One of the product questions answers this. Is a novel gift, which is what I purchased this for. Was a big hit and really liked.
Answer: Just like Dixie said, no they are not. However, the teas are organic and come in a lovely box plus the display is amazing!

Answer: On the Amazon site there is an offer of NUMI tea. Hope it's what you are looking for.
Q:
Anyone having trouble with powder coming out of box?
Answer: what?
Q:
What is the expiry date on the package offered for sale on this site?
Answer: The expiration date on the package that is offered for sale that is displayed on this site.
Answer: i didn't see any exp date but did find the items to be fresh
Answer: I have looked and I think that I have found it. Now I ordered this some time ago. I have 9/8/2015. I don't have any more. I am planning on getting more. I hope this helps.
Answer: Sorry I gave it as a gift and dony know the answer to this.
Q:
Is the tea gluten free?
Answer: I ordered so many different teas. Not sure which one you want to know about. You can query Ask.com and tea and gluten and should be able to get a good answer from that.
Q:
Are all the teas included kosher? Do they have a symbol (an apple with a k in side) on the packaging?
Answer: I did not find the apple with a k, however, when I researched the tea online many sites claim it is Kosher. To be safe I would check their website. If you do a search I am sure you will see several of Numi's teas listed as Kosher. It is organic and the box printed with soy ink. I hope you will find it is kosher as it is delicious and a visual treat as well.
Q:
can the tea pot be used on the stove?
Answer: Hi Maria,
Answer: I don't know for sure. I gave it to a friend for Christmas. Usually tea is made by adding the hot water from another kettle, so I would advise not putting the teapot on a stove burner.
Answer: It is a glass teapot. Kind of delicate...You would boil water in a regular teapot and pour the water into the glass teapot... where your flower can sit and grow...I already broke my glass teapot. Guess I may have to order another one if I want to see my flowering tea.
Answer: Its a small glass teapot not meant to be put onto the stove. You boil the water in your kettle and then put it into the glass teapot like any other teapot.
Q:
Will it work if I bought a bigger teapot? Maybe a 40oz?
Answer: I sent this as a gift, so I don't know. Sorry I couldn't help.
Q:
Are your gift recipients truthful when they thank you? My mother, to whom I sent this gift, said the "flower" was ugly and the tea "tasteless."
Answer: They loved it. The flower did not bloom as pretty as the picture, some flowers bloomed upside down but it taste fine nonetheless. Could the tasteless part be a result of too many steeps? Sorry to hear that she didn't like it
Answer: My mother is very truthful, and for your info I always try everything myself before sending it to someone as a gift. So all I can say is to each their own.
Product reviews of Numi Organic Tea Flowering Tea Gift Set, 6 Tea Blossoms with 16 Ounce Glass Teapot (Packaging May Vary)
Megan H. : Bought as a Christmas gift
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom. She really liked it. I don't know if she has tried any of the tea yet, so I don't know how it tastes, but it is really pretty.
Trillian Skinner : Lovely tea set
Purchased this primarily for the tea pot, the flowering tea is lovely and can be brewed multiple times if you store the blossom properly between brews. The kids enjoyed watching it flower and had fun trying the different teas. The tea pot is adorable, though delicate looking. I haven't tried it in the dishwasher yet and probably wont. It holds 16 oz and has been perfect for a shared pot of green tea with a friend.
Dee McNett : Blooming Tea!
This was a gift and my friend loved it! She likes all kinds of hot teas and she was so excited for the blooming tea with the clear glass pot so you can see the beautiful blooms!
YellowSubmarine : More content - less packaging
Bought this for a gift for a close friend. I loved the idea of this, however the gift itself left a lot to be desired. The crate was sturdy, and everything arrived safely, however the contents left much to be desired - a small thin glass tea pot and a small box of tea. I was surprised that 6 blooming flowers could fit in such a small tea box. I figure that at least 50% of the price is on the packaging, which leaves not a lot of money leftover for what's in the package. If this type of thing is what you are after, you are better off buying the components separately and packaging it yourself.

rachelle peterson : Truly a magical tea!
A concern I always have when purchasing online, "is the product as good as its online photo projects it to be". As it relates to this product I can truly say I was not disappointed. The product arrived well packaged, secured and on time.
The teas are delicious, every tea explodes with flavor. My personal favorite is the Jasmine flavor which is truly rich in flavor and aroma. I highly recommend this product it to all tea lovers, truly a relaxing tea experience.

Darlane Leonard : Teapot arrived broken
This lists a 16 oz pot, but there must have been a substitution because I got a tiny 8 oz pot that the handle had broken off of in shipping. An 8 ounce pot doesn't provide enough space for good tea flowers to expand. Sorely disappointed. Buying a REAL borosilicate proper glass pot with room enough for the teas to bloom and develop flavors correctly. Keeping the tea. I'd avoid this SET, buy Numi tea for gorgeous flowers and flavors... but buy a real quart borosilicate pot for brewing. The 2 stars are for the really delicious tea.
ObiaMan : Marvelous
This was a wonderful set. After I sent one to my Step Mom, I had to order one for myself and my wife. I love tea and this just made the whole experience that much better. The pot is beautiful and just right for 2 cups at a time. The flowers and tea looks so cool opening up and really adds a nice ambience to tea time. I rebrewed each ball several times and it came out great every time. This makes an excellent gift for any tea lover. And the Mahogany Bamboo Box!!!!! Beautiful. My wife now uses it for her nail polish and supplies. This is a real winner.
GadgetGirl : Hard to identify the flowers, but gift was appreciated
Was a gift for a tea-lover friend, but she likes it. She only stated that she thought the glass tea pot would've been a little larger. it pretty much only makes one cup of tea. And the other thing she mentioned was the flowers aren't labeled so you really don't know what you're getting until it "blossoms". The drawings on the side of the box to help you identify the flower is pretty useless. Closed up they all look like rocks. I only tried one of the flowers and wasn't very impressed, but as I mentioned it wasn't even the flavor we thought we were trying. But it's fun and the box is a nice keepsake.
leandra : expensive and disappointing
I bought this for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. I was very excited for her to receive the Numi flowering tea set with bamboo basket because she is an avid tea drinker. _After_ ordering I was informed that this item was on backorder and would not arrive until the week following Mother's Day (May 13). It did not arrive until May 25th. I saw it this weekend and was very disappointed with the quality of the tea flowers (a big mushy ugly mess in the tiny teapot provided) and with the bamboo box it was sent in (very cheap). This was surprising to me considering how much I paid and the quality I associate with the Numi brand normally. Don't buy this if you're expecting a beautiful and lavish gift set. It's not.
phalen 74 : Very nice little set for the price.
Great product, if I would give any critique they should label the individual tea packets with what they are.

A. Parsons : Great Gift for Hostess
I was extremely hesitant to order this due to the few negative reviews, but I'm glad I took a chance. I was told it was the best gift they've gotten in years (over and over again), and everyone at the party I went to was "oooooing and ahhhhing" over the beautiful blooms. As a bonus, the tea was great! I don't understand the bland reviews. Definitely worth the cost, thanks Numi and amazon.
Again addressing the scary negative reviews, there was absolutely no dirt/mud in or around the box and packaging. I took the gift out of the amazon box and wrapped a red ribbon around it (the bamboo box comes wrapped in nice white paper), and it was good to go.
Jackie : Perfect gift for tea lovers!
I got this as a gift for my tea loving MIL and she loves it! It's very quaint and delicate, meant for a cup of tea. The photo is of the Lavander Dream flavor, shes says it's delicious. A hit!

Mary : Love the concept
Havent tried the tea flower yet but pleased with the selection added and the mini glass teapot. The box they arrived in was cute although it was severely scratched up on the front and side. But overall I am satisfied and looking forward watching the flowers "bloom" as well as sample their flavors.
Mark S. : 4.5 based on size but not disappointed.
The box it came in was pretty big, 3 bamboo cases could have fit in it. Inside the case everything is snug and it presents nice. The pot itself feels like borosilicate glass. The lid has a vent hole, so when you pour there is no vacuum. The tea is pretty good. The flowering tea is a little bitter, and some of the blossom don't go well with honey. But I being bitter doesn't bother me, and I don't put sugar in my tea.
My only complaint is that it's too small. But that isn't Numi's fault. Amazon didn't filter it out after I put in my preferences, and I didn't read the entire description. Not the first time this has happened either.
ShaddowGolden : Beautiful
I got this as a gift for a friend and my sister. The box could have been put together better, but other than that it’s beautiful. They haven’t tried the tea, so I’m unsure about presentation or taste.
Glenda : We are experienced tea lovers and have a huge appreciation for the flowering teas.
The box is nice, the teapot very small and the lid does not want to fit properly. The tea must have been stale, perhaps years old. We have tried many flowering teas and I do not think we will be trying Numi again. There was no smell, not even when the packages were opened, not when steeped or while drinking. No taste to kind of a cardboard like taste. I checked for expiration date, thinking that had to be what was wrong, but couldn't find a date.

H. Ritchey : Drink and a Conversation Piece
The only thing stopping me from rating this as a 5 is the quality of the teapot itself is slightly lacking. Mine arrived chipped and the lid doesn't sit very well which makes pouring it a bit difficult, but for the price it's hard to argue.
After I've brewed each tea flower about 4 times, I will re-fill the teapot with cold water, and this works as a centerpiece on my counter for about a week! Guests will notice and ask about the teapot, at which time I empty out the old flower, and voila! Instant entertainment and a great cup of tea. I also feel better about the price of the tea flowers knowing that I have ended up with over two months worth of enjoyment of looking at the blossoms.
The tea itself is pretty decent. I liked the jasmine green the best, but was pleasantly surprised by the rose flavored one.
This is definitely not recommended for your daily cuppa' because of the increased price, but it makes for a great pot to share with a friend.
Tatiana : great gift for mother-in-laws or tea lovers
I bought this for my mother-in-law as a birthday gift because she loves collecting tea pots. She imminently loved it as soon as she pulled off the gift wrap. The bamboo basket case it comes in is super cute and adds a certain uniqueness about it.
It was very light weight and felt so fragile in your hand because of its thing glass design. This included some teas and I have not yet to try all the flavors but i enjoyed the subtle foral flavor with hints of organic earthy herb.
Reyka Ravenwood : Had High Hopes
I decided to try Numi tea after I read an article about how many teas aren't washed and some even have pesticides. Numi is one of the teas that those things aren't present in.
The box is cute and the teapot beautiful.
I wish the small teapot was designed with pouring in mind. If you have it full of tea, the way the handle is curved causes the teapot to slope down and I had to constantly have a death grip on it to keep it from spilling.
I've had flowering tea before and I've used 4 different tea flowers so far. To my dismay, none of them have flowered like they're supposed to. I don't know if I just got a dud or if this is the norm for this product.
Tabby : Cute
I would NOT recommend this item if you're a tea aficionado. However not sure why a lot of people on here were complaining about this item, yes the box is flimsy but it's made out of bamboo and held together by bamboo so you can't expect that it's going to be some high quality, durable box. I was a little surprised at the size of the pot, I was thinking it was going to be a little bigger but whatever. The price could be a TAD bit lower but other than that it made a good gift and I would recommend it to someone who likes to dabble so I'm giving it 5 stars for what it is.
Spatnum89 : Mother's Birthday Gift
This is a tiny little tea set, perfect for my mom.
Yes, the teapot is TINY and really fragile and for the price I can understand why people are slightly put off by this but I liked it.
Other people have stated that once you remove the actually outer wrapping the glue will destroy the box surface, but I didn't have that problem. I took my time to slowly peel it off and came out with no imperfection. The top cover is slightly skewed so the lid doesn't align properly when closed shut.
I was slightly disappointed by how the flower bloomed once in the hot water. It didn't sink to the bottom so it just bloomed upside down on the surface. We really couldn't see the flower and if we poked it too much the green parts ripped off making it look like murky seaweed water. The actually taste of the tea was a tad bit strong to the point that it was starting to taste bitter.
caa : Fun gift
This was a gun fun unique gift. We enjoyed watching the flower bloom. The tea wa tasty too.

Techaholic : Buy 2 and Zoom Call with a Friend!
For a gift, I bought 2 and kept one so I could FaceTime Video Call with a friend, and we had tea time together for her birthday! Wonderful gift idea for tea drinkers. The tea itself tasted a bit like a boring Lipton iced tea, but it was the blooming experience that was so amazing. Very classy gift! We both loved them! Each bloom can be reused 2 more times. Just dry it out on a paper towel in the sun.
Nicole : Tea for two with a suprise!
Awesome! I LOVE this tea set not only is it very fun to watch it’s very enjoyable to sip! The box was put together very elegantly and nice you can tell it’s a very high quality tea and set! Everything came together nothing broken I also bought one for a gift for my boyfriends Grandmother who loves tea!! She’s going to get a kick out of watching the tea bud bloom, the set and the taste!!!
Kristen : Fun and unique gift idea
This set was a hit at a gift exchange! Very popular item to “steal” in white elephant exchanges. Fun for a diner party or afternoon tea. Lovely set and teas, the packaging in a bamboo type box was a bit unattractive as it didn’t seem like a sturdy box you would keep to store it in. Other than that a perfect gift.
sabby : quality tasty tea
Great price, when I purchased it for about $15.00. No need to use a strainer with the tea-pot so far, since the two teas I've tried, one black and one green, have both been whole-leaf. I was able to steep both teas multiple times with consistently good flavor, though each pot makes a small amount of tea barely enough for two, but then I use coffee mugs, not tea cups, so I'm probably not being fair. One of the teas, a black tea, was probably the best black tea I've ever tasted, and I've purchased black teas before. I'm unimpressed with the flowering concept: it's not really pretty when it grows out like some alien life form or spider, but I'm drinking it, not saving it for a photo shoot. Also, I haven't bloomed all the teas yet.
No problem with the lid coming off the included glass tea pot. Teas and pot came in a fine-quality bamboo box that could be used for storage of other household items, for people who wish to re-use boxes.
I'm pleased with the great quality of the teas, and the product over-all.
Mommybuyer : So relaxing
After dealing with kids all day, I love adding this tea into my relaxation routine. It blooms absolutely gorgeously. The box it comes in is nice as well, despite the fact mine came broken. The key to a fast bloom is to put the bloom in first and then pour hot water over it.
Halee chavez & Bryan evan bailey : Look for a different set.
The tea pot was too small, you need a bigger teapot so the tea isn't bitter, also it did not come in a bamboo box, just a cheap cardboard one.
The teapot is the perfect size for the green tea bags that were included so you use use the teapot for regular bagged or loose leaf tea, but I suggest a bigger one for the flowering teas.
D. Snyder : What a gift!!!
I received a set of blooming tea for Christmas. Most of the teas are really good but they are all just so interesting. One way to enjoy the set longer is that when the tea flavor is done if you just want to look at the creation(flower or grass or whatever just drain it off and put cold water in the pot.I have the drogon one in water for 4 days now. It sits right beside me. I just change the water when it gets too yellow.I wish I would of thought to do this sooner because this is my last one of the ones that came w/the set. It would have given me even more joy....
Tony Modesa : Crazy Good Tasty Show
Wish I had time to enjoy this more! I received this for my birthday and used it that Saturday, what a surprise! The blossoms were beautiful; my wife enjoyed it as much as I did. The presentation deserves a double score!! I'm a serious tea guy too.
Kindle Customer : An Amazing Gift Idea
I purchased this teapot for a friend's birthday present. I figured it would be a novelty because she loves tea sets... Her reaction was stunning, though! She is absolutely nuts over this little glass teapot and beautiful flowering teas. She called me when she opened the package and saw the bamboo box. Then she called me again when she opened the box and saw the tea pot and bundles of wrapped tea leaves. She just e-mailed me because she was finally done playing with the tea bundles and made a pot - her first try was the 'Jasmine Pearl' - she said it smelled heavenly and her husband said the flavor was excellent and the whole process reminded him of an opportunity he'd had to spend time w/a tea master in Berkeley.
All in all, this was a big hit with my friend, and her surprise and enjoyment speaks volumes of the quality of the product.
Jewelry Mama : Beautiful gift.
Very pretty. I bought this as a gift for my daughter then had to but one for me! When the tea "blooms" it's so pretty. It has a very nice flavor and you can get at least two brewingsnout of each flower.

Ms Me : Looks nice.
I bought this as a gift and opened the box to make sure everything was presentable due to other reviews. I wanted to be sure nothing was cracked and the lid fit. Everything was ok. It was packed for shipping well. Yes, the pot is small, but it is for one person after all. There is a hole at the top of the lid designed to let steam out. That might have been what someone was calling a bubble in the glass. It felt pretty sturdy, but the handles could have been made a little thicker. I was hoping to be able to see or smell the teas, but they are sealed in a box. I am pleasantly surprised that this doesn't have a weird chemical smell to the wood as other mass produced, cheaper items are prone to have. The inside of the gift box is nothing special, just the pot, the box of blossoms, and a bunch of brown confetti-like strips of paper stuffing. The box has this orange/red "leather" stringing it together. I think they could have put in a little more effort and used a natural looking leather or even twine, and displaying the blossoms in the gift box instead of hiding them in a box that looks at home on a grocery shelf. But I am picky. Even though I haven't tried the blossoms, I drink Numi tea myself and I think they are great quality teas. I will probably buy a set for myself soon.
SiliconValleyGirl : and I was absolutely delighted by it
I received a much earlier version of this as a gift for volunteering as a leader for a charitable cause, and I was absolutely delighted by it. So I am passing the delight on to others by buying 2 or 3 more as elegant gifts to others. The fancy wood & bamboo box for this set makes for a very nice gift touch. However, my price point is about $25 (a limit for nonprofit gifts) so I would not buy this if priced above that.
Laura Mueller : Perfect gift for a horrible boss
Do not buy! Go to teavana instead or learn to make your own.
First off the package was damaged on the outside, kinda looked like it was pre-opened, which should have been my first red flag to return. Sorry I was to excited to try this I didn't take picture by picture, until after the first bad blooming tea taste. Barf!
Second, I got this as a gift and I would have assumed the product would have been bigger. It's very small! My opinion.
Third, awful taste and I love tea! I am an avid tea drinker. Also it didn't even bloom all the way. This tea tastes like a kid went to mom's garden and had all the goods intentions of making mommy homemade tea. Yeah it's gross. I'd like to tell you the 2 I tried but I can only guess I had Shooting Star and Sunset Oolong since the bags are not labeled which flavor is which leaving you to guess. And if you're like me there are some teas I just prefer in the morning and others in the afternoon.
If you want disappointment or a bad gift for a horrible boss, this is it.

Joni Ellsworth : Awesome quality, beautiful presentation
I purchased this for my mother, a tea lover, as a Christmas gift. Since it was sealed up inside a cardboard box, I did not open it, and wrapped it as is. Inside the outer cardboard box, was the boxed chest, wrapped in light paper. The chest is gorgeous! It is made with honey color - cut bamboo, and closes with a bamboo toggle. Inside is the tea pot and the tea, packed in some type of packing straw. The tea pot is on the small side, but this is what I wanted, and expected. After you place a flower pod into the tea pot and add the hot water, the pod opens gracefully and flowers out. It is quite beautiful, and the tea is delicious.
The packaging, product and the presentation of this tea set is top shelf. I was very happy with my purchase, and my mother loved her gift.
MoonChild85 : Love this!
Such a wonderful and amazing product! I bought this as a gift and they loved it so much and the tea is so so good! Thanks so much I will order again!
Kaybee : Just Your Cup of Tea...
I purchased 4 of these at a terrific price to give to young adult grandchildren for Xmas. They were all extremely pleased with everything...the flowering teas as well as the beautiful little glass pot itself...not to mention the bamboo packaging case! What a wonderful overall presentation! Even though I cannot comment directly on their use, or how well they will hold up, I was very pleased with the overall appearance. It was a very unique gift indeed.

rachelle peterson : Truly a magical tea!
Jes : Really nice packaging. Looks more expensive than was!
Looks great. Packaging is awesome, way nicer than I expected. Difficult to open without damaging the package, so can't say if the inside is intact. It's an xmas gift. I gave it a shake, didn't hear anything suspicious, so I'm choosing to say it's ok.
