Does anybody know if this tea is decaffeinated by effervescence? This method preserves almost all of the polyphenols.

Answer: There are 2 terms on the box that are very important to understand in relationship to the polyphenols: organic and naturally decaffeinated. Organic means the plants have been grown under strict guidelines to not use chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, which can harm the polyphenols in the plants. The term Naturally decaffeinated can mean one of two things:1) the plant itself is caffeine free, 2) or the process used to decaffeinate is natural, "effervescence."

Answer: I called Bigelow and they said that they use the CO2 method of decaffeinating they tea. And I read a study that said that Bigelow decaf actually has more polyphenols than their regular green tea for some reason.

Answer: Sellers on Amazon are not like grocery stores which try to maintain level pricing . . . sometimes a product is sold at the same price by several sellers; other times, there ae price differences. At $16, it still 13 cents per bag, delivered to your house if you're a Prime Customer. No bad, still.

Answer: Yes, the box has a set of 6 packages with 20 in each box. After trying two packets, I had to throw away all six boxes because the tea tasted like dirt and mold. Very disappointed.

Overall, Bigelow Premium Decaffeinated Black Tea is very good. It brews very nicely, has a nice mild tea flavor & each tea bag comes individually packaged to preserve flavor & freshness. However, if you prefer or are looking for as I sometimes am, a stronger tasting brew, you may prefer another tea. Still, Bigelow is an excellent brew that consistently delivers that fresh tea taste without any bitterness even if you let it brew too long. Note: I would have given this a 4.5 Star rating if I could. A 5 Star rating if it were just a little stronger tasting.

I like the tea. I have ordered the six-pack box several times from Amazon. However, the most recent time that I have tried to order the six-pack of chai tea, I received a six-pack of six different teas--one chai and five others. I re-ordered and the same thing happened. I called customer service and the very interested representative tried to figure out what the problem was. I suspected that item numbers were the issue since the same error occurred both times. I am now afraid to re-order for fear of the same thing happening. The representative assured me that someone would read her notes, the item would be pulled from the website, and the problem would be corrected. I am skeptical. I may just have to order directly from the Bigelow website . . . I don't even want to include the product link since I am not sure it would lead to the correct item.

Like the sweet but aromatic flavor and decaf but still has flavor. No need add sugar always fresh in foil bags. Cheaper than local Phoenix stores and buy in sets of 6 boxes. Sweet orangish flavor.

I had so hoped the decaf would have as much flavoring as the regular Constant Comment but sadly it doesn't. I have drank the regular in loose leaf form since the 60's. Such wonderful memories of a past life...lol. I must partake in decaf more and more now, thus my ordering this brand of decaf. I am very disappointed this decaf didn't meet expectations.

I wasn’t looking for individually foil wrapped bags as that isn’t earth friendly. But that’s the only way I could find this Bigelow Black Decaf Tea. Sure it keeps it fresh, but I go through 6 tea bags a day so I don’t want to add to the landfill.

It’s basic, and pretty good for decaf. I won’t buy it again because I want less packaging. Taste is vastly better than Lipton, but then, anything is better than Lipton.

I just don’t care that I can’t but it without all the extra packaging.

I generally like this Bigelow tea, but I'm not sure where the vendor got these from. The taste is so weak that I have to use 2 bags per cup, just to get some flavor, and then the flavor that you do get has hints of rancid. I'd stay away from this one.

Old Navy : 4 or 5 star tea, 1 or 2 star product listing

It's Bigelow tea, and I find Bigelow to be a good, reliable, enjoyable brand, packaged to protect freshness. BUT nowhere on the Amazon listing or product packaging does it warn you that these are packed 4 bags to a pouch. The pouch will fold over and close fairly well, so if you are using the tea fairly quickly there's no problem, but if you don't drink it often, freshness would have to suffer some on the bags you don't use when you first open the pouch. That's okay. I might even choose these 4-bag pouches if I think the value is right. BUT A GOOD LISTING TELLS YOU WHAT YOU'RE GETTING, AND A BAD LISTING TAKES OFF STARS. Other reviewers have noted the packaging issue, but people should be able to depend on sellers to state what they're selling.

Terry : Beware of wrong boxes!!!

This was my 8th order of this decaf green tea but this time I only received half of the tea I paid for. The outter box was labeled as containing 6 boxes of 40 tea bags for a total of 240. But inside was six boxes of 20 tea bags for a total of 120! I’m sure this was just a mistake and am pleased that we easily received a refund. We will order again but will be sure to check the boxes carefully.

Item is as described. Flavor is very, very light compared to normal organic green tea.
Excellent amount for the price. Love that these are organic.

Only caveat is that it comes 3-4 bags to a paper tea bag. So, it's prepared for making a quart versus per cup. Even STILL. I love them. I roll the metallic paper bag to preserve flavor in between. Just love that this is DECAF green tea.

This is inconvenient to me because I dunk the tea bag 50 or so times, and found that frequently the string come untied and the tea escaped the bag. I ended up throwing out many cups. Now I staple the string to the bag before I dunk. I spoke to Bigelow customer service about this and was told it must have been a manufacturing quality control mishap. They said they would refund my money. It’s been several months and multiple emails from me to Bigelow, and still no refund. I continue to use this tea,but find the stapleless bag annoying. Now a stapler has become a staple in my kitchen. As to my rating, flavor, 5 stars. Customer service 2 stars.

alw : Typical decaf tea

I drink my tea without cream or sugar, and in my opinion the normal (caffeinated) version of this tea is the best-tasting tea I've ever had. But the decaf version was a disappointment -- like almost all decaf teas, it's missing all of the complex flavors of a caffeinated black tea, so the overall flavor is weak and bland. At least it doesn't have the fishy flavor that some decaf black teas (like Lipton) often have.

Sarah : Only 1 box, not 6!

Based on the description (and price), I was expecting 6 boxes of the tea (each box with 20 tea bags). Instead I only got 1 box! And Amazon now considers the order "complete" and is not giving me any option for customer support on this order. This is definitely false advertising in terms of what the you are ordering.

Constant Comment Tea was the very first tea I'd ever had! I fell in love with it immediately. Time passed and I decided to change to decaffeinated tea. Lucky for me I found Constant Comment came decaffeinated also! I purchased a box and clung to it, cherishing each bag over time...a long time. I didn't see it in the stores and was thrilled when I found it was available here on Amazon. That very first cup brought back so many memories and it's all thanks to its, as always, wonderful flavor. Thank you, Bigelow, for maintaining your standards and continuing to make Constant Comment Decaffeinated tea, life is wonderful again!

120 teabags for about $16 = cheaper than my grocery store by far! The decaf chai teabags smell and taste just like they should, I can't speak for other flavors, but certainly recommend this one.

Amazon Customer : Hard to find Earl Grey Decaffeinated in Stores

It's darn near impossible to find Earl Grey Decaf in the grocery stores and here you get a big batch. I like the regular Earl Grey too, but need decaf for evenings. I also only purchase the "Bigelow Brand" as each tea bag is encased in a protected wrapper keeping the bag super fresh until you use it. So, you can buy a bigger batch as Bigelow has these wonderful wrappers. Love the Earl Grey and thank you so much for selling the Decaf by itself in a larger quantity!

Jessie : Subtle flavor & aroma of orange and spice is perfect

This is hands down my favorite tea. I drink only decaf and have a hard time finding this tea in the grocery store. The hint of orange and spices is just perfect. I drink it hot or cold. Whenever I make chai,I start with this as the tea and then add my spices and sweetener. It's absolutely perfect.

I LOVE English Teatime. It's my favorite kind of black tea. Every single grocery store in our area stopped carrying the decaffeinated kind, though. Seriously, I went to 7 different stores and couldn't find it. I was afraid I'd have to cut out my nightly cup of tea. But I'm really glad I ordered it here. When I make a pot of tea during the day, I use 2 caffeinated and 1 de-caff so that I don't end up jittery. So now I'm using these morning and night. Bigelow is my favorite brand. There are very few Earl Grey's that I like, I'm very picky, but Bigelow's is good and I use it a lot too.

Long story short: This is my go-to tea. You should try it!

Bigelow Decaf Green Tea has become my favorite hot beverage when I don't want caffeine. Steeping for three minutes is all it takes to get a lovely, mild cup, perfect after a late dinner or when life has already wound you up tighter then you'd like.

If you need to stock up every couple months, this is the most cost-effective way we've found. The prices for 6 boxes is way cheaper than buying in-store. The flavor is very good, and we've never had any issues with getting boxes that are obviously very old/expired.

I never imagined I'd be writing a glowing review for tea bags, but this Lemon Lift tea is FANTASTIC. I have been a life-long tea drinker, usually plain old black tea, but decided it was time to break outta the box! (Or bag!!)

Finding interesting-flavored decaf tea can be a challenge, but this Bigelow Lemon Lift solved that. I was lucky enough to find one box @ a local retailer, but when I returned to buy it again found that spot on the shelf empty. Week after week, same thing--no Lemon Lift decaf! After scouring all my local retailers with no luck, I figured I'd try Amazon.com. Sure enuff, Amazon had it! I purchased a pack of 6 boxes, and every nite my ritual is to brew a delicious cup before settling down with my current read. What a nifty ending to my day.

The special spice Bigelow uses makes a HUGE difference. If your local retailer doesn't stock this tea, Amazon does! You won't be sorry!

Im very pleased with the product. A few months ago I decided to mostly eliminate caffeine from my diet; I say mostly because I'm aware that even decaf coffee and tea may have small amounts of caffeine. I really missed constant comment tea though. I'm very glad to find the decaffeinated version. I'm not sure that I could tell the difference in this and the caffeinated version as far as taste and aroma.

Do not purchase this item as it is terrible. At least the shipment I received. Perhaps some people are recieving legitimate Bigelow tea but I do not believe I have. This is my third attempt to write a review. The others have been rejected. What was wrong with this? No flavor, tiny bags, questionable ingredients. Even using 2 bags in a normal sized cup produced a weak flavor...you have been warned. Not recommended.

Decaf Constant Comment was an excellent choice! Beautiful after dinner decaf tea. I haven't tried this tea since I was a child. My mother always had Constant Comment in the cupboard when I was growing up. Every time I make a cup of tea it makes me smile and I feel like I'm giving a little shout-out to my mom. I'm usually into black coffee, bullet coffee and black teas with stevia and cream. I'm not much of a spice tea lady. Most spice teas are too strong and over powering. But Constant Comment is 'just right' as Goldilocks said. Smooth but full bodied. I put a tiny touch of Stevia in it to round it out. Just perfect to finish my evening with. Love the 1940's history behind this tea. Try this tea...just in case you love it as much as I do....wouldn't want to miss out...

Don't judge a product based on the box. I have purchased the same tea from this seller. The box looked the same as the last time I purchased the box of 6, no scratches or dirt. When I opened the first packet, the tea bag smelled and tasted like dirt and mold. I had to throw the rest in the garbage can. Decaf Constant Comment is my favorite tea. I was very disappointed in the flavor and freshness. I will not recommend buying this product from this Amazon seller again.

I love tea. There is nothing that makes me happier than curling up with a good cup of tea, especially in winter. Unfortunately I can't have caffeine so that really limits my tea choices. Before I knew I couldn't tolerate caffeine, my favorite tea was French Vanilla. I searched everywhere for caffeine-free vanilla tea. I was super excited to find it here. I bought a case of this tea, even though I'd never had it before because I really like other flavors of Bigelow tea and I trusted that this one would be no exception. I was not disappointed. This tea is strong, smooth, almost sweet on its own. I'm so happy I found it.

So thankful that Amazon carries the decaf version. I have given this as Christmas gifts to my sister and oldest daughter for years now but it's almost impossible to find in stores. Relaxing bedtime treat with great natural flavor. Decaf beverages have been expensive and very difficult to find in grocery stores recently. I wasn't sure I could use all six boxes, but I have already included three boxes in birthday, baby shower and hostess gift baskets and am considering moving up my Amazon subscription reorder date. Individually wrapped tea bags stay fresh a long time and travel well. Tea bag strings and tags are attached without metal staples, making it safe to use in microwave.

I have been buying Bigelow's decaffeinated green tea from Amazon for some time now, but the past two boxes of 40 tea bags each have seen about half the bags either ruptured already in the pouch, or they leak tea leaves once they have been put in hot water. I have 4 more boxes in hand (they are sold by Amazon in a package of 6) and if the problem persists, I will not be buying this from Amazon any more in the future. (It appears Amazon will only give me a refund if I return the boxes, which I can't do, since they've been used.)

I have known about Constant Comment since I was a girl many moons ago. I have always enjoyed the scent and the taste of this mildly spicy tea. I drink a cup a day in the morning when I have my breakfast since I have never developed a coffee habit. I also enjoy the fact that I can get caffeine free because it takes very little caffeine to make me wired well into the night.

I get tired of drinking Starbucks Espresso and Pikes, and switch over to this for nice change of pace. It's got a really nice flavor and is really a delicious tea. i bought the decaf for night time enjoyment, so the caf doesn't keep me awake. The packaging is excellent and Amazon's price is great.

My 95-year-old grandmother enjoys her tea but caffeine makes her uncomfortable. Of all the decaf green teas, she like this one the best. I actually like it too - the taste is more mellow than my current batch (100-pk from Costco). It tastes much "softer", if you will, and doesn't feel as abrasive as other green teas I've tried. Plus, a good nightcap without keeping you up, if you're sensitive to caffeine.

I purchased this off Amazon because I’ve had a hard time finding the decaf in stores. If you’re looking for a milder hot tea that doesn’t need sweetener, this is your tea. The decaf option is great for nighttime or if you need to limit caffeine for health reasons. I use my Kerig for the hot water, just run it without a K cup. I usually run hot water through once, pour it out, then use the second run for my tea (to get rid of any coffee residue in the kcup holder) and only let it steep for a minute, two at the most. It comes out perfect every time. If you let any type or brand of tea steep/sit too long or if your water is boiling it can become bitter by the time it’s cool enough to drink, even Earl Grey.

The one star rating is not for the product. The tea is very good...I have ordered it before. But this time they only sent me a partial order. The order was for six packages of tea, each with 40 tea bags for a total of 240 tea bags. Amazon only sent one package (40 tea bags), and not only that, they did not send the package in a box, but instead just put the address label on the tea package box (see attached picture).

Makes the best hot chia with a third mug water and 2 tea bags. Micro for 2 minutes. Let steep 2 minutes. Add your milk and a bit of sugar and heat 1 more minute. Yum!

I have been drinking this Black Tea for years and enjoy it hot in the fall and winter and also cold in spring and summer. Decaffeinated allows my to enjoy it from Dawn to long after dusk and fall asleep without any caffeine issues.
