Does anybody know if this tea is decaffeinated by effervescence? This method preserves almost all of the polyphenols.
Answer: There are 2 terms on the box that are very important to understand in relationship to the polyphenols: organic and naturally decaffeinated. Organic means the plants have been grown under strict guidelines to not use chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, which can harm the polyphenols in the plants. The term Naturally decaffeinated can mean one of two things:1) the plant itself is caffeine free, 2) or the process used to decaffeinate is natural, "effervescence."
Answer: I called Bigelow and they said that they use the CO2 method of decaffeinating they tea. And I read a study that said that Bigelow decaf actually has more polyphenols than their regular green tea for some reason.

Bigelow Lemon Lift tea was a complimentary tea at a hotel we stayed at a long time ago. I really liked it and tried to find it in grocery stores once in a while if I thought about it, but couldn't ever find it in Bigelow brand. I've bought several other flavors to try, and they're ok. If you've never tried this flavor, you should. Really mellow, NOT bitter at all. 6 pack of them on Amazon was a really good deal.

I drink my tea without cream or sugar, and in my opinion the normal (caffeinated) version of this tea is the best-tasting tea I've ever had. But the decaf version was a disappointment -- like almost all decaf teas, it's missing all of the complex flavors of a caffeinated black tea, so the overall flavor is weak and bland. At least it doesn't have the fishy flavor that some decaf black teas (like Lipton) often have.

I have tried MANY a tea brand over the years, and Bigelow is the absolute best. I love that they individually wrap each tea bag, but most important is the flavor. They are the only tea brand IMO that does not leave an aftertaste. I regularly drink their decaf green tea and peppermint tea (both are awesome FYI!), but I have been wanting to cut back on my coffee consumption, even decaf. I know you can find herbal coffee substitutes that swear they are just like coffee, but they are often made from barley and chicory (i.e. grain), which I also want to avoid.
So, I decided to try a black decaf tea, add my organic creamer like I do with my coffee, and see how I like it. First, thank you to Amazon for carrying these Bigelow decaf teas! I searched all over Orlando, FL and couldn't find them anywhere. And, the price with Subscribe and Save cannot be beat.
While waiting for my order to arrive, I tried the Twinings decaf Irish Breakfast Tea (purchased at my local Publix; the one brand of decaf black tea they carry), but it left an aftertaste and was a bit too malty. I needed to add cinnamon and my normal amount of Stevia along with my creamer to make it drinkable. I also tried a Rooibos (do a search for the Rooibos Rocks brand here on Amazon), and while it is excellent, and I will be brewing that as an iced tea, it just wasn't strong enough for my "coffee fix".
This Bigelow decaf English Teatime, however, is just perfect! No aftertaste, and a strong but smooth flavor. I only needed half as much sweetener as I put in my coffee, and no cinnamon. By the time I got to the last of the tea in the cup, the temperature had cooled to almost lukewarm, but it still tasted just as good as the first sip. Lukewarm coffee, though, would have been dumped or reheated.
I actually like this tea BETTER than my coffee! I also can tell my stomach likes it better, too. :)

I love drinking Earl Grey tea and find it to be quite the treat when I combined it with this vanilla tea and froth milk (or sweet cream froth when I have a craving for sweets). I did fail to realize the amount I ordered (way too many for one person) so I hope it stays fresh for as long as I have it. Overall, it meets my vanilla flavor expectations.

Relaxing bedtime treat with great natural flavor. Decaf beverages have been expensive and very difficult to find in grocery stores recently. I wasn't sure I could use all six boxes, but I have already included three boxes in birthday, baby shower and hostess gift baskets and am considering moving up my Amazon subscription reorder date. Individually wrapped tea bags stay fresh a long time and travel well. Tea bag strings and tags are attached without metal staples, making it safe to use in microwave.

I love this tea and can't find it in stores anymore especially decaf. I am not a huge tea snob. Bigelow is probably as fancy as I get. So if you're lower middle-class like me, you will be more than satisfied.

I have been drinking this tea for better than 30 years, since I was a kid. Best hot with honey, but equally pleasing as iced tea. Excellent blend of black tea, spices and citrus flavors that has been my go to for a long time. Also available in de-caffeinated as well. If you like tea and haven't tried this yet, you're missing out!

Im very pleased with the product. A few months ago I decided to mostly eliminate caffeine from my diet; I say mostly because I'm aware that even decaf coffee and tea may have small amounts of caffeine. I really missed constant comment tea though. I'm very glad to find the decaffeinated version. I'm not sure that I could tell the difference in this and the caffeinated version as far as taste and aroma.

I know this is the decaf version, but the flavor tasted off. I've had this tea before but it's never tasted like this. The box also came crushed, but that doesn't really matter because it's just tea bags. I won't buy again.

I generally like this Bigelow tea, but I'm not sure where the vendor got these from. The taste is so weak that I have to use 2 bags per cup, just to get some flavor, and then the flavor that you do get has hints of rancid. I'd stay away from this one.

I love tea. There is nothing that makes me happier than curling up with a good cup of tea, especially in winter. Unfortunately I can't have caffeine so that really limits my tea choices. Before I knew I couldn't tolerate caffeine, my favorite tea was French Vanilla. I searched everywhere for caffeine-free vanilla tea. I was super excited to find it here. I bought a case of this tea, even though I'd never had it before because I really like other flavors of Bigelow tea and I trusted that this one would be no exception. I was not disappointed. This tea is strong, smooth, almost sweet on its own. I'm so happy I found it.
Desert Rat : not the smoothest
Needed to reduce my caffeine intake. Had been drinking Prince of Peace Organic Green Tea (not decaffeinated) which has a smooth, clean, non-bitter flavor. This tea is much "grassier" tasting and a bit bitter. More like Sencha than a Chinese or Taiwanese green tea. Although the packaging is good, the taste is not quite up to the premium price they are charging.

I had so hoped the decaf would have as much flavoring as the regular Constant Comment but sadly it doesn't. I have drank the regular in loose leaf form since the 60's. Such wonderful memories of a past life...lol. I must partake in decaf more and more now, thus my ordering this brand of decaf. I am very disappointed this decaf didn't meet expectations.

Not my favorite. On the weak side for me didn't have any taste, not bold and flavorful. I know decaf tea doesn't have same taste as regular. I thought Bigelow would be better. I have this huge box I tried using 2 tea bags it made it bitter. I seem to like the lipton decaf tea better has more flavor. If you like really flavorful and bold. Try allegra decaffeinated black tea. I ordered thru Amazon pantry from whole foods. It is the very best decaffeinated black tea i ever had. Really flavorful bold not bitter. I thought I ordered regular tea by mistake. Its just a box of 20, thru Amazon pantry . I did appreciate the bigelow was in individual sealed packets.

Absolutely delicious tea. I drink it every morning and sometimes at night too. I needed a tea that had good flavor but no caffeine and this is perfect. Obviously making it at home with just a splash of milk saves a lot of calories from going to Starbucks!

The foil packs have four bags each, and I keep them extra fresh by storing them in a mason jar with a tight-sealing lid. Recommend this value pack if you drink a lot of this tea!

I’ve been drinking, and loving, this tea for years. Sometime in the past year they quit stapling the string to the tea bag. This is inconvenient to me because I dunk the tea bag 50 or so times, and found that frequently the string come untied and the tea escaped the bag. I ended up throwing out many cups. Now I staple the string to the bag before I dunk. I spoke to Bigelow customer service about this and was told it must have been a manufacturing quality control mishap. They said they would refund my money. It’s been several months and multiple emails from me to Bigelow, and still no refund. I continue to use this tea,but find the stapleless bag annoying. Now a stapler has become a staple in my kitchen. As to my rating, flavor, 5 stars. Customer service 2 stars.

Do not purchase this item as it is terrible. At least the shipment I received. Perhaps some people are recieving legitimate Bigelow tea but I do not believe I have. This is my third attempt to write a review. The others have been rejected. What was wrong with this? No flavor, tiny bags, questionable ingredients. Even using 2 bags in a normal sized cup produced a weak flavor...you have been warned. Not recommended.

I really like green tea but wanted a decaffeinated one since I'm sensitive to caffeine. Bigelow has always been a very good quality tea maker. But I'm not a connoisseur of tea so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. All I know is I really enjoy it and appreciate the benefits of green tea. I may just have to order directly from the Bigelow website . . . I don't even want to include the product link since I am not sure it would lead to the correct item.

My 95-year-old grandmother enjoys her tea but caffeine makes her uncomfortable. Of all the decaf green teas, she like this one the best. I actually like it too - the taste is more mellow than my current batch (100-pk from Costco). It tastes much "softer", if you will, and doesn't feel as abrasive as other green teas I've tried. Plus, a good nightcap without keeping you up, if you're sensitive to caffeine.

When I make a pot of tea during the day, I use 2 caffeinated and 1 de-caff so that I don't end up jittery. So now I'm using these morning and night. Bigelow is my favorite brand. There are very few Earl Grey's that I like, I'm very picky, but Bigelow's is good and I use it a lot too.

I like flavored teas but can't sleep if I drink too much caffeine. I have yet to find a herbal tea that tastes even remotely drinkable. But I can tolerate drinking this decaf all day and the lemon flavor really is great. Some teas have flavors but they are so faint that you can barely taste the flavor. This one is the best--I've tried a lot of them. But, I bought these to send to my daughter who is studying in Japan. It's cold there and she wanted some decaf tea to drink all day--she couldn't find any so I sent this to her. She likes the lemon flavor in this tea. Great product.

This was my 8th order of this decaf green tea but this time I only received half of the tea I paid for. The outter box was labeled as containing 6 boxes of 40 tea bags for a total of 240. But inside was six boxes of 20 tea bags for a total of 120! I’m sure this was just a mistake and am pleased that we easily received a refund. We will order again but will be sure to check the boxes carefully.

Rabbi M : Fairly enjoyable cuppa but too much packaging for my use
I wasn’t looking for individually foil wrapped bags as that isn’t earth friendly. But that’s the only way I could find this Bigelow Black Decaf Tea. Sure it keeps it fresh, but I go through 6 tea bags a day so I don’t want to add to the landfill.
It’s basic, and pretty good for decaf. I won’t buy it again because I want less packaging. Taste is vastly better than Lipton, but then, anything is better than Lipton.

I’ve tried a lot of decaf teas and I do think it’s pretty good. It’s decaf tea. Let’s be honest. It’s not the same as regular, but it is definitely better than a generic box of tea sachets packaged for your local grocery store. It is definitely better than most decaf teas. It is very smooth and produces the typical amber liqueur of a black tea. Like any decaf tea, the tannins build up on the pallets over the duration of a good pot of tea. However, due to the nature of decaf tea and how it’s decaffeinated, it is not as flavorful as caffeinated tea.. personally, I always use decaf tea in unison with other tea and tisane sachets. It always adds that je ne sais quoi.

There are two ways to decaffeinate black tea. One is more expensive and uses a gas. The other is 10x cheaper and uses chemicals to wash the caffeine out. The manufacturer does not say which process is used. However, the presence of a chemical smell that does not dissipate even after a day, tells me the cheaper process is used

I have tried MANY a tea brand over the years, and Bigelow is the absolute best. I love that they individually wrap each tea bag, but most important is the flavor. They are the only tea brand IMO that does not leave an aftertaste. I regularly drink their decaf green tea and peppermint tea (both are awesome FYI!), but I have been wanting to cut back on my coffee consumption, even decaf. I know you can find herbal coffee substitutes that swear they are just like coffee, but they are often made from barley and chicory (i.e. grain), which I also want to avoid.
So, I decided to try a black decaf tea, add my organic creamer like I do with my coffee, and see how I like it. First, thank you to Amazon for carrying these Bigelow decaf teas! I searched all over Orlando, FL and couldn't find them anywhere. And, the price with Subscribe and Save cannot be beat.
While waiting for my order to arrive, I tried the Twinings decaf Irish Breakfast Tea (purchased at my local Publix; the one brand of decaf black tea they carry), but it left an aftertaste and was a bit too malty. I needed to add cinnamon and my normal amount of Stevia along with my creamer to make it drinkable. I also tried a Rooibos (do a search for the Rooibos Rocks brand here on Amazon), and while it is excellent, and I will be brewing that as an iced tea, it just wasn't strong enough for my "coffee fix".
This Bigelow decaf English Teatime, however, is just perfect! No aftertaste, and a strong but smooth flavor. I only needed half as much sweetener as I put in my coffee, and no cinnamon. By the time I got to the last of the tea in the cup, the temperature had cooled to almost lukewarm, but it still tasted just as good as the first sip. Lukewarm coffee, though, would have been dumped or reheated.

Overall, Bigelow Premium Decaffeinated Black Tea is very good. It brews very nicely, has a nice mild tea flavor & each tea bag comes individually packaged to preserve flavor & freshness. However, if you prefer or are looking for as I sometimes am, a stronger tasting brew, you may prefer another tea. Still, Bigelow is an excellent brew that consistently delivers that fresh tea taste without any bitterness even if you let it brew too long. Note: I would have given this a 4.5 Star rating if I could. A 5 Star rating if it were just a little stronger tasting.

I have been drinking this Black Tea for years and enjoy it hot in the fall and winter and also cold in spring and summer. Decaffeinated allows my to enjoy it from Dawn to long after dusk and fall asleep without any caffeine issues.

I have known about Constant Comment since I was a girl many moons ago. I have always enjoyed the scent and the taste of this mildly spicy tea. I drink a cup a day in the morning when I have my breakfast since I have never developed a coffee habit. I also enjoy the fact that I can get caffeine free because it takes very little caffeine to make me wired well into the night.

Constant Comment Tea was the very first tea I'd ever had! I fell in love with it immediately. Time passed and I decided to change to decaffeinated tea. Lucky for me I found Constant Comment came decaffeinated also! I purchased a box and clung to it, cherishing each bag over time...a long time. I didn't see it in the stores and was thrilled when I found it was available here on Amazon. That very first cup brought back so many memories and it's all thanks to its, as always, wonderful flavor. Thank you, Bigelow, for maintaining your standards and continuing to make Constant Comment Decaffeinated tea, life is wonderful again!

The three I got from Amazon were awful! The boxes looked fine but the teas tasted chemical and moldy. I tried a bag from each box and immediately threw them all away in case there was some toxic chemical in them.
I was not about to go to a possibly Covid contagious UPS store to return 3 lousy boxes of teas. And yes, lousy is a good word for this imposter.

If you need to stock up every couple months, this is the most cost-effective way we've found. The prices for 6 boxes is way cheaper than buying in-store. The flavor is very good, and we've never had any issues with getting boxes that are obviously very old/expired.
