Directions

Shake well before using. Refrigerate after opening.Hot: 1 fl oz or 2 Tbsp. to cup.Iced: 1 1/2 fl oz or 3 Tbsp to glass. Fill with ice and cold water.Gourmet: Heat 12 fl oz to light steam. Pour over ice in 2 qt. pitcher and fill with cold water. Add sweeteners to taste.

Is it safrole free

Answer: Yes. It states right on the bottle it is safrole free.

I did not refrigerate after opening. Can I still drink it in my water? Also there is no expiration date so will it keep indefinitely?

Answer: As far as I know, you can still use it...obviously the next bottle, or even this one, would keep better in the fridge. As for the expiration date. We just finished up a case of Pappy's from 2012...every bit as wonderful as the first bottle!

Answer: Hi there. After the first opening: I think if it was kept out of the sun and tightly closed, and refrigerated from now (or earlier) on, it would be fine. I keep mine in the cupboard until I open it. No problems so far ! Enjoy !

Answer: If it doesn't taste funny, it's probably okay...as for keeping it indefinitely, I would drink it within the season I bought it. I most certainly hope someone w more definitive knowledge answers these questions for you!

Answer: I use 1 and one half bottles with cold water in a gallon jug. I use 2 0r 3 cups of splenda. 1 and one half bottles makes it better tasting.

Answer: That depends on how strong you like it. Generally one of those little bottles makes one big pitcher which can then be put over ice. Try it with soda water too. Like ginger ale without the sugar.

Answer: well...i put about a shot glass full in a dinner size glass with ice and fill the rest with water...so i might get about 15 to 20 glasses (i make it by the glass...). some folks don't like it because it's not very strong---it's mild and subtle... i really like it but only for a couple of months... it has a tendency to cause reflux if i drink too much of it... but it is light and refreshing and of course is the coming of spring!

Answer: I have not. I use this product straight out of the bottle mixed with water when I have an upset stomach. I acts almost instantly to settle my tummy.

A glass of cold water and a touch of this is just what this rootbeer loving girl needs on a hot Georgia day. Or if you are a fan of a certain character who gets whacked on the back of the head. I remember having a glass of sassafras tea as a child in South Louisiana -- I disliked tea, but I couldn't get enough of the sassafras variety. When I saw the Pappy's stuff in the store as an adult, I snapped it up.

This doesn't have safrole (which has been outlawed) but it has great root bear flavor. I like that you can can customize how concentrated you would like it and how sweet (the concentrate doesn't have any sugar in it, so you can add sugar or your own sweetner). It's a great summer, no calorie treat!

I've used this product for years, but no local market carries it currently and the price I got through Amazon was quite acceptable at the time. This is as good as I've had apart from obtaining the natural ingredients myself, which is harder to do these days.

The tea made as directed from concentrate is a fine product, but frankly I do not typically use it that way. On a budget what I do is make my regular batch of sweet tea (anywhere from a half gallon to a gallon), and add this to enhance the flavor. I personally find that even a few ounces of Pappy's concentrate added to a gallon is a worthwhile enhancement. You may want to add more, or if you like it full strength (and can afford it) that's great too.

I first tasted Sassafras tea in a local restaurant and really liked it. I started looking for it in grocery stores and online. After several weeks of investigation I called the restaurant and asked how they made the tea. I was told it was Pappy's Sassafras Concentrate. I looked for it online and ordered it from Amazon.com. It tastes like flat rootbeer to me.

Some reviews I've read claim this product isn't like the real drink brewed from the Sassafras root. I've never had the "real" drink; but, I do like this product. I have ordered the pack of 6 12oz bottles three times in the last month. Twice for me and once for our son as a Christmas gift. He loves to try different teas. He's had the "real" thing before when he was camping with the Boy Scouts so I'm curious to know what he thinks of the Pappy's Sassafras Concentrate.

I also ordered a box of sassafras teabags for him to try as well. I didn't like mine; but, he may think the teabags taste more like the "real" thing. If he likes the teabags he'll get the other 19 bags from my box, too.

These bottles look the same, but are made out of plastic and it makes the tea taste like plastic almost as much as sassafras. I wish the Pappy’s would go back to glass bottles! I’d drink this all the time!!

It is passable if you put some sugar in it. I prefer no sugar so I’m a bit disappointed.

Some of the other reviews said this stuff is a bit weak and it is. The recommended mix ratio is good if you haven't had real sassafras before, but if you've made your own tea from the roots you'll want to practically drink this stuff without mixing it or 50/50. This is likely a result of the process of removing the Safrole much like removing caffeine from coffee alters the taste. Even so, this is quite good and I recommend it especially if you're like me and live far away from the growing region of sassafras.

This tea is tasty but not as tasty as it would be with the prohibited ingredient.

I never had sassafras tea as a child, but used to chew small twigs and loved the flavor. I'm always on the lookout for a caffeine- and sugar-free beverage, so I was an instant fan when I discovered Pappy's Sassafras Tea many years ago. I used to get it in the summers from a small grocery store in the Adirondack Park. The bottles were always covered with dust, so I was disappointed but not surprised when the summer arrived when it was no longer stocked. Not really expecting to find it, I did a search on Google and found it at Amazon (should have known)! It makes a wonderful iced tea, really quick and easy to make up because the boiling, brewing, and cooling process has already been done and all I have to do is add cold water and Equal. I don't have to worry about how much I drink or drinking it before bedtime, because it's caffeine-free. And I don't even have to lug it home, the mailman does it for me!

I found this on another site and have never seen it before but it said it taste like root-beer and I love root-beer. I had a gastric bypass in 2003 and can not drink carbonated beverages and I ordered some to try and it is great. Taste just like root-beer without the carbonation. I use stevia to sweeten a bit. I will be ordering this a lot in the future
