From the manufacturer
Who We Are
We've had a deep fascination with flavor for 130 years – and we believe you can taste the difference.
We’re a UK independent family tea company and our story starts back in 1886. We have strong family values and a love for fairness, quality, creativity and treating our partners and suppliers with respect.
We re-invest part of our profits in community and environmental projects, to make a continued difference to the quality of our tea and to the lives of the people who grow it.
Our teas and infusions stand on the shoulders of more than a century of tea-making history and passion. And we're completely, utterly devoted to the pursuit of extraordinary flavor.
Giving Back
Taylors is committed to supporting people and planet, both in the Yorkshire region where we’re based and in our global tea and coffee supply chain. We see investment in community and environmental projects as critical to support our long term future, and work to grow strong, lasting relationships, sometimes over decades, to make a continued difference to the quality of our teas and to the lives of the people who grow them.
Our team of tea and coffee buyers spend many months a year overseas so we see firsthand the difference we’re making to the communities we rely on for our tea and coffee. It’s not always easy and many of the challenges within our global supply chain are deep-rooted and complex, but we’re proud of our commitment, the progress made so far, and deeply grateful for the on-going support and commitment we receive from suppliers and partners.
Working together for a sustainable future
| | | |
Taylors Sourcing Approach (TSA) is our model for how we buy our tea and coffee. Rather than simply ‘buying a commodity’, TSA is a way of buying which allows us to build the supply chain we want and need for the future. At its heart is a commitment to put our values at the center of how we buy, underpinned by long-term relationships with key strategic suppliers. | The Environment By reducing our environmental impacts, both within our own operations and our supply chain, and by planting trees and supporting other carbon capture and reduction projects, we’re working towards making our tea and coffee range ‘carbon neutral’. | Improving Livelihoods The tea and coffee sector is highly dependent on the smallholders who grow 80% of the world’s coffee and 70% of global tea production. Decreasing farm size, access to and cost of soil inputs, rudimentary farming methods, lack of investment in infrastructure and increasingly unpredictable weather and patterns, are all impacting on smallholders’ ability to make a living. | Resilient Communities We’re committed to ensuring the communities in which our suppliers, smallholders and workers are based are resilient and sustainable for the future. Together with our key suppliers, we work to understand the challenges their communities face and support projects and initiatives to address them. These vary in scale and reach, from small timebound partnerships with suppliers, to significant industry collaborations. |
New Green Tea Range
Delicate but packed with flavor – our exquisite green teas are made in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We use steamed Chinese Sencha, for an elegant flavor with no bitterness.
New Fruit and Herbal Infusions
Our unique fruit and herbal infusions are made in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We use extremely good ingredients, cleverly blended together to create extraordinary flavor.

Product reviews of Taylors of Harrogate English Breakfast Loose Leaf, 4.41 Ounce Tin
RicWellesley : Not really leaf tea. It’s mostly dust.
Very disappointed with this tea. It’s mostly dust and has very little flavor. Not much different from a much cheaper tea bag. Not buying this again.
Salix : Fresh-tasting.
This was bought as a gift so I haven't tried it myself but the friend was delighted and says it is a lovely fresh-tasting tea.
Joleen Carrico : Great taste, but not organic.
I really enjoyed this English breakfast tea.. the taste is the best by far. BUT I gave it two stars for not being organic, or it does not state that it is. Many teas are full of herbicides and pesticides which are toxic to people as well. So I'll stick with the Rishi which is comparable in flavor and organic.
Jay I. Gilliland : Brisk
This is a very satisfying BRISK black tea. It's hard to find good brisk tea but this is one of them.
Thank You
Jenny : Delicious
An excellent beverage - bought as a gift and much appreciated. Loose leaf tea made in the pot cannot be beaten
Superstu : Tea like Mother used to make.
This is a great product. Tastes so much fresher than tea bags. Could be psychological of course but I do lie to take time and brew tea properly.

Uncle Bill : Not leaf
Not leaf tea. It’s powdered like you’d expect to see in a tea bag. Not much flavor either.
Birtie : Five Stars
Makes a very nice cuppa and comes highly recommended....
Birtie
Ms Irene Terry : Five Stars
Excellent - back to clear tasty cups of tea without all that dust you get with tea bags
Arktik : this is loose tea just like the ones you could get from your local Asda ...
This is not leaf tea, this is loose tea just like the ones you could get from your local Asda store for much cheaper price! I feel cheated!
Marilyn : Poor quality
Powdery pieces rather than whole leaves. Flavor was lacking too.
RicWellesley : Not really leaf tea. It’s mostly dust.
