Sencha vs. oolong- how does each taste?

Answer: different types of tea. sencha is a type of Japanese tea using whole leaves (vs powder and such ie Matcha) and Oolong is a type of tea leaf.

Answer: It is definitely an acquired taste, some call it "bitter", but I love it. If you want to get an approximation of it, make yourself a cup of sencha tea, but make it *very* strong, and let it get cold before you drink it

Answer: Oolong is more mild and probably more tolerable to most people. The sencha shot taste pretty much like grassy dirt but for some reason I really like it and that’s the one I buy.

A great little tasting Oolong! I love that it has my daily serving of vitamin C , good for you antioxidants and 171 mg of Polyphenols. I pour my can into a cup and squeeze in a bit of lemon and drink it down right before my daily exercise. It gives me a little burst of energy which I like. The small 6.4 oz shot size is so convenient for on the go. It’s more than a few gulps but not quite as big as a full can of pop. I’m currently working on losing weight and Oolong has definitely helped me to drop an extra 5-10lbs in addition to what I’ve already burned off with hard work and dedication. It’s sped up my metabolism! Also this stuff is great in replacement of hot tea during the hot summer months.

Ito En Sencha Shot is a very decent product and a nice departure from the current run of energy drinks. Following the wildfire success of Red Bull, company after company has come up with energy drinks involving high concentrations of caffeine and taurine. Caffeine has known long-term effects on health, while taurine has barely been studied.

Sencha Shot is a refreshing departure from the common approach to sports/energy drinks. Instead of loading it with strange things that produce a big lift in the drinker's feelings of overall physical energy, Sencha shot takes a milder and much more sensible approach giving the drinker a quick dose of chilled green tea with some vitamin C added, offering the *positive* health effects of the green tea's antioxidant properties. To put that another way, in comparison with other "proper" energy drinks like Red Bull, Amp, MDX, Rock Star etc, etc, drinking Sencha Shot is a lot less like getting hit with a hammer.

Now it's true that you could for all intents and purposes get all the effects of Sencha Shot by brewing a big pot of decent-quality green tea, and then eating an orange, but it wouldn't be portable and you'd look very strange if you offered it to someone.

Be that as it may, the most I can tell you about it is that I like it. It's good and good for you and it's not expensive. In fact, when bought by the case, on a per-can basis, it costs around half what Starbuck's doubleshot espresso does and there's not a thing wrong with it. It may be the only "energy drink" on the market that you could give to a child with a clear conscience.

I have been a long-time purchaser of the Sencha Shot for many years. The recent can package has certainly changed, along with some subtle change on labels. Vitamin C amount has changed. Also, the old can lists that 152 mg of Catechin, but the new can only says vaguely: Antioxidant Boost. They still taste the same though. I think that it would be nice for the Company to say it clearly what has changed or not. Or maybe they measure the ingredients more precisely now (or maybe not)? By the way, the cardboard package continues to be weak and bad. 1 out of 2 30-can boxes would be damaged through shipping. Amazon has to put another box to hold the tea box. This cardboard package I think really needs to be changed!

I've tried many different brands of green tea, mostly the brewing kind, and it's always difficult to find one in the US that's actually "green" the way I remember it from my childhood. So imagine my surprise when I found this tea in a can that had just the right color, with a hint of bitterness and a whiff of refreshing aftertaste. I drink this all the time now in the morning instead of my morning coffee, which has the disadvantage of leaving a bad aftertaste throughout the morning. This tea wakes me up with its slight bitter taste, and I feel so refreshed and energetic even though I imagine it has half the caffeine as most coffee brands. The small size makes it ideal for me to pop one or two in my purse to drink while I'm out and about at work when it may be difficult to grab a quick cup of coffee otherwise.

And I also tried putting a dab on my cotton pad to refresh my face during the day at my desk. It's great for astringent, and given the price cheaper by the bucket than those I buy at drugstores.....

So many uses, the right taste, and so convenient to use since it's in a small can. I highly recommend this for those who love green tea. For those not used to green tea, you'll start to love the bitter taste but it may take a few to get used to it.

These teas come sweetened or unsweetened. I love the unsweetened variety. They have lots of Vitamin C and I feel like they keep my immune system pumping. If I'm dragging in the afternoon, a shot of tea gives me energy without too much caffeine. The only complaint I have is that sometimes they are sent to me tossed in a box. The last shipment contained two sets of 15 cans, each wrapped in plastic wrap. When they are taken out of the manufacturers case and loose in the box, or even wrapped in plastic, the cans get dented. But, with that said, I still love the tea and buy it regularly. Would love more care in packaging though....

Also, while I can't speak personally about its efficacy with headaches, there are reports this tea (and others like it) can help in those instances. I've recommended and given this to a few friends who get headaches, and they've said it helps reduce the intensity.

This is a good little drink when you're in a hurry in the morning or rushing to go out for the night. I take my vitamins with it in the morning, something more than just a glass of water. The extra Vitamin C is a plus.

The sencha shots are just that, something quick. It has a nice, clean taste, but not exactly something that I'd take my time to "sip and savor". There can be some bitterness, similar to oversteeping tea.

Shipping wasn't too bad. Out of 30 cans, 3 cans were slightly dented.

As a teacher, daily exposure to an onslaught of germs is a given. An Oolong shot each a.m. (which I alternate every other day with a Sencha shot) has helped me to fend off many illnesses. Before I purchased a case of these gems, I read a review about how awful it tastes. No argument there, though everyone's taste buds are different. I use 8 to 10 drops of liquid stevia (zero calories) to minimize that aspect. It's too effective not to include in my effort to strengthen my immune system.

I had never heard of Sencho shot until I ran across these at my health food store. I decided that this may could replace my daily addiction to an energy drink, LIMU Blue Frog, so I ordered a case from Amazon. Sometimes one is perfect and other times I drink 2, but the best thing is the cost! I was paying 3.50 per can for my Blue Frog and these are only .96 per can (free Amazon Prime shipping) which is a
good reason to drink in lieu of my other healthy fav. Taste is smooth and these are endorsed by Dr. Weil, so I will continue to use. I am wondering why they are made in China and would prefer that we had these here in the US, but will keep drinking anyway.

Trust me, you are more likely to get dented cans than to NOT get dented cans. This comes packaged as a flimsy box within a slightly more sturdy Amazon delivery box. No other padding. Your delivery man does not have any idea this thing should be treated with any type of care. So it's mostly a matter of HOW MANY dented cans you will have as opposed to IF you will have any dented cans.

As for the product itself, this stuff is potent. Again, trust me, if you are not a fan of straight brewed STRONG green tea, you're going to have to just suck it up and drink it because it is good for you OR cut it with some sugar, honey and/or lemon to make it more palatable for you. Someone mentioned that if you're a fan of unsweetened black tea this would be comparable, but he/she is 100% WRONG. I absolutely LOVE unsweetened strong long leaf Black Tea and drinking this Green tea is an entirely different taste experience. Not exactly bad, but definitely different if you are not used to the unsweetened Green tea taste experience.

One funny note, this drink kinda has an aftertaste that hints of Mary Juana if you catch my drift. Not exactly a bad thing depending on your tastes. Rock on.

You must not like the taste of REAL green tea then, because this is how properly brewed green tea is supposed to taste.
