Questions about Harney & Sons Citron Green Tea, 20 Sachets, White
Q:
Hi, how is this tea prepare? Is it more like a loose leaf tea?
Answer: Each silk satchel of tea contains true loose leave tea. Each satchel is designed to make 2 cups of tea, so I think it would be great for a ladies afternoon of tea where the tea is steeped in tea pots.
Answer: There is a "sachet" like a tea bag, you can steep that in boiling water for 5 minutes. I like to add a little cream and sugar.
Answer: It is in a bag, but it's more like a loose leaf in a bag. It's delicious
Answer: It comes in a silk tea bag that is big enough to make two cups. You basically just need to steep it for a couple of minutes. It's has a slight floral taste with hints of honey.
Answer: Recommend you use a small pot, this sachet makes at least two cups of tea beautifully. I reused the bag the next day and made four cups total.
Answer: It comes in individual satchels. So use one per cup. I usually use two cups of water as it is very strong and fragrant.
Q:
What are the dimensions of the tin container ?
Answer: I believe I previously answered this question, but the tin measures 3-1/4" wide, 4-1/2" tall. The tea is wonderful.
Answer: Little over 4 1/2 inches tall with lid on
Q:
Can you kindly post/clarify brewing instructions? I'm confused with what's written on box. Thanks, in advance.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I have dragon pearl jasmine and it reads the same but I have found out that best way to brew this particular tea is heating water till boiling then let it set for 5 minutes with the lid off or the pot open to cool it down to about 180 degrees I tried boiling water and my cup shattered 5 minutes steeping will result in a bolder flavor where as day 3 minutes will result in a mild flavor
Q:
Does this tea containe caffine?
Answer: Yes, this tea does contain caffeine.
Q:
Are the sachets individually wrapped?
Answer: The seeds are in individual sachets, but the sachets are not covered with any type of wrapping like foil or sealed.
Answer: No, but they can easily be packed in a zip lock snack bag to carry in a pocket or purse.
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
What are the dimensions of this item?
Answer: approx, 4 -3/4" high x 3-1/2" wide Hope that sufficiently answers your question. Best tea I have ever had
Answer: The tin is 4.5" tall, and 3.5" by 3.5" looking from above.
Q:
Why is this called early grey supreme? How is it different from the plain Earl Grey?
Answer: Harney & Sons have named this tea as Supreme for it's superiority over other Earl Grey teas. It uses a higher grade of tea along with the addition of silver tips. Fine Kosher black tea blended with bergamot.
Answer: Contains silver tips
Q:
The 20 and 30 count have different tins. Are they the same?
Answer: Yes, they are the same tea. And the best tea I have ever had!
Q:
What are the dimensions of the tin container? I'd like to make candles with them. Thanks
Answer: That is a cool idea! the dimensions are 3 1/4 inch x 3 1/4 inch x 4 1/2 inch (height)
Q:
I understand that there's no sweetner in the tea, but does it taste sweet? I don't want sweet tasting tea.
Answer: No, it doesn't taste sweet at all. Just has a combination of wonderful citrus and vanilla flavors that are very light and unimposing. Very pleasant tasting tea!
Answer: This is a blend of black tea with natural vanilla, fruit and citrus flavors. enjoy!
Answer: I don't think it's sweet, it's hard to explain, it's full body and soothing.
Q:
I'm looking for a lavender tea, but cannot drink earl grey, so am wondering if the base is actually earl grey or some other black tea?
Answer: The Paris tea isn't earl grey or lavender... it does have bergamot and some citrus flavors though so maybe it's a spin on earl grey. The base is black tea. However, I think the base of most earl greys is typically black tea also. But maybe you're asking about a flavor other than the Paris... you might like the Yellow & Blue flavor. It's chamomile and lavender and caffeine-free.
Answer: According to the ingredients, the PARIS Tea is a blend of black teas with natural vanilla, fruit and citrus flavors and it's described as fruity black with a hint of lemony bergamot.
Q:
Correction: where can i buy rooibos chai tea in portland, or ?
Answer: Try the Spice and Tea Exchange.
Q:
does this brand of Earl Get tea have actual bergamot in it, or just bergamot flavor?
Answer: Natural Bergamot Oil
Answer: The ingredient list reads: blend of black teas, natural vanilla, fruit and citrus flavors.
Q:
Is there a way to buy this identical English breakfast tea in greater quantity?
Q:
The description is for Hot Cinnamon Spice but the photo shows Hot Cinnamon Sunset. Which is it? I want the Spice.
Answer: Mine is Hot Cinnomon Spice and looks different
Answer: It was hot cinnamon spice.
Answer: Both teas are Excellent ---Harney has the best tea 'sachets' ever!!!
Q:
How does this compare with Bigelow's Constant Comment?
Answer: Not the same flavor to compare at the 2 in any way at all. If looking for similar taste to constant comment, try Holiday not Hot Cinnamon Spice.
Answer: The two teas are quite different with only slight similarities in both have cinnamon in their makeup. Harney & Sons classic hot cinnamon is just cinnamon with no other spices. it also has a pronounced sweetness; in fact at first I thought they were adding sugar or another sweetener but they claim not. I like both teas you question very much but they really can't be compared to each other in flavor. I still drink both.
Answer: We absolutly love the tea. Best we have ever had. Highly recommend it.
Answer: Bar none, the best teas out on the market. Very flavorful
Q:
Is this chamomile tea organic ?
Answer: I don't know as I did not buy Chamomile. I bought Earl Grey and it was not organic.
Answer: I checked the can and it doesn't it's organic...sorry
Answer: I bought the cinnamon and it is not
Answer: It’s not.
Q:
Is the "natural vanilla flavor" in this tea vegan-friendly (i.e. not made with castoreum)? thanks!
Q:
Silly question: Is this tea decaf?
Answer: No, it is a black tea and not decaf.
Answer: It doesn't say that it is decaf on the canister and it is made with black tea so I would probably have to say no. However, it is a very light tasting tea so it probably doesn't have a lot of caffeine. It really is wonderful with hints of vanilla. It almost tastes like it has honey in it.
Answer: No it isn't. The package says it has 40-60mg of caffeine per tea bag. I must say though, that it's one of the most delicious teas I've ever tasted!
Answer: No it's not
Answer: No, like previous buyer says, it has 40-60 milligrams of caffeine in it.
Answer: No. It has 40-60 milligrams of caffeine.
Q:
Why is this "white tea, dragon pearl jasmine" so high in caffeine ? white tea usually has only 4 mg (not 30-50 mg) while jasmine has no caffeine ?
Answer: I figured it was mistake. It didn't feel any different than other white teas. You might contact Haney and Sons directly. If you do multiple steeps nearly all the caffeine is extracted during the 1st steep. 2nd and 3rd steeps are nearly caffeine free.
Answer: I don't have an answer.
Q:
What are the dimensions of the tea tins?
Q:
Is there an expiration date on the package?
Answer: There should be a lot number showing on the package, in addition to a Best By date. If the best by date is not showing, the lot number indicates the production date in Julian date format. For example, lot# 17238 would be a tea produced on the 238th day of 2017, which is August 26th, 2017. Harney & Sons Teas have a 2 year shelf life, so the best by date for a tin having a lot number of 17238 would be August 26th, 2019. I hope this is helpful information for you.
Answer: There is an expiration date on the bottom of can.
Answer: I have different flavors of Harney Tea Sachets, none of them have an expiration date.
Answer: Yes, there is a "Best By" date on the bottom of the tin.
Answer: Best by date as of today is still on the bottom of can.
Answer: Usually a Best By Date in the bottom
Q:
which tea has depth and body
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: personally I found this brew to be weak watery and without anything to recommend it over Lipton's. (Which is as bad a review as i can imagine).
Answer: My favorites are India Spice and Hot Cinnamon Spice and Earl Gray. There herbals are excellent.
Q:
Use a tea ball?
Answer: I take that what you're asking is if it is loose tea that has to be put into a tea ball or bag before steeping the tea. There is no need to do that as the tea comes in durable tea sacks.
Answer: Not needed. Just drop the sachet in. They don't leak. I love this tea so much.
Answer: No, they're already in bags.
Answer: Individual bags
Answer: I'm not sure what you're asking, that's not really a whole question.
Q:
Is this loose leaf tea?
Answer: No they are 20 silken sachets. I do sell loose chamomile on Amazon in 1.5 oz & 3 oz tins.
Answer: No, it is a tea bag but it is shaped as a pyramid so more tea is exposed to the water. My husband enjoys this tea immensely and says the feels the different shape makes a better cup of tea.
Answer: No, these are tea bags
Answer: There are tea bags in a tin.
Answer: No, it's a bagged tea.
Answer: No, it's in a lovely bag. The description even says '50 bags'. :)
Answer: yes
Q:
Are they biodegradable?
Answer: The material used to make the sachets is not biodegradable.
Answer: Well, my bad! I did not contact the manufacturer. By looking at the product, I assumed it was biodegradable. I apologize.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
The descriptions says it is paris, but the picture of the tin is chamomile herbal. which is it?
Q:
Is this tea organic?
Answer: Not listed as organic. However ~ the camillia (tea) bush is very finicky and is unlikely to have been sprayed; and tea is harvested by hand.
Q:
what are the artificial flavors , they’re not listing in the Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea
Answer: There is no artificial flavor
Q:
The picture shows "individually wrapped sachets" ...is this correct?
Answer: The boxes that are sold are individually wrapped sachets. The bags with the zip seal across the top and have 50 sachets in them are sachets but they are not wrapped individually. The sachets are unwrapped in the bag. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, the tea bags are individually wrapped.
Q:
What is the tea bag made of? Is it made of natural or artificial material?
Answer: Not natural, It is silky, maybe polyester or something similar.
Answer: These are silk teabags.
Q:
Does the Japanese Sencha sachets come in a tin as well? Photo looks like it's just a cardboard box.
Answer: It comes in a cardboard box, but each individual sachet is in a single foil pouch.
Answer: I don't know. I've never used this tea.
Q:
Is this real jasmine tea leaves, or is it artificially flavored?
Answer: They scent the tea with jasmine flowers.
Answer: I can't imagine that artificial flavoring would be used when Jasmine flowers are so plentiful and reasonably priced. This is a high quality brand.
Answer: Not a biologist, but it sure tastes like jasmine to me
Answer: I bought Chamomile from this brand and it's delicious. I haven't tried their Jasmine
Q:
Is the flavor of the tea different from the tea bag to the tea sachet?
Answer: Full leaf tea in the sachets is a much higher quality tea than the tea in teabags. The cinnamon is the same
Answer: Sachet is a snooty way of saying ‘bag’ so, no there is no difference in flavor... hope that helps...!
Q:
Does anyone know what the "artificial" flavors actually are? I can't seem to find that anywhere. Thanks!
Q:
Do the added ingredients add calories?
Answer: I don't think so. No calories listed on the tin.
Q:
Are these tea bags tagless or with tags?
Answer: These are not teabags but silken pyramid shaped sachets with tags.
Answer: The bags are silk with paper tags.
Answer: The bags are attached to strings that have a small square tag at the end of them. It's worth mentioning that he bags themselves are made of a very fine translucent mesh and not made of paper or any natural fabric.
Answer: They have plastic tags
Answer: They have tags.
Answer: with tags
Q:
Why does the quantity option say "Inquiries by email"?
Q:
Are the tins recyclable?
Answer: They do not have a recycle symbol on them unfortunately. I did however put mine in my recycling bin because my area recycles a lot of items.
Answer: I really don't know...send an e-mail to Harney and Sons..I know they'll answer you.."Contact"
Q:
What are the measurements of the tin the tea is in?
Answer: 20 sachets I used each one twice so I made 40 cups of tea
Answer: The dimensions are not listed but the tin is way smaller than than expected
Q:
Dimensions of tin?
Answer: 4x3.25x3.25"
Q:
When will they switch to compostable bags?
Answer: This is a question for the manufacturer, not the consumer.
Q:
Your prices are getting high. I bought this tea in February for $ 5.41 . I love amazon for the great deals but lately i have noticed i can do better.
Q:
Are there any artificial flavours or ingredients?
Answer: My "Hot Cinnamon and Spice" list artificial ingreds but my "Paris", "Peppermint Herbal" and "Green Tea with Coconut" has natural ingreds. no artificial ingreds with them. It's best to check the ingreds on the page for the tea that you're interested in.
Answer: None. If you check the product photos on the tins on the Amazon page, you will see the ingredients. A delicious tea. CD
Answer: I don't know. It was a gift and a favorite by the receiver.
Q:
do these tea have sugar or carbs?
Answer: No. No sugar, no carbs. Just beautiful flavor.
Q:
I am not a fan of black tea but this sounds like it actually tastes good. Is this true?
Answer: Their Earl Grey is a wonderful tea, the best Earl Grey I have ever tasted. Very smooth, no bitterness. I can't speak to their other flavors.
Answer: It is a milder black tea with many undertones. I enjoy it as my first drink of the morning. Not knowing your taste it would be a hard question to answer but everyone I know who has tried it has liked it.
Answer: I really like it. But it is definitely black tea, stronger than herbal teas.
Q:
Is the tea sweet without having to add sugar?
Answer: It depends on your preference really. It isn't a fruity tasting tea ,for example pomegranate tea or something similar. I usually add a small spoon full of sugar just for taste.
Answer: I wouldn't say it is sweet but it is so yummy that it doesn't need anything added to it. It's become my favorite tea.
Answer: I think it's sweet without sweetener, but I never put sweetener in my tea.
Answer: No. There is no sweetener in this tea.
Q:
Did you receive these in a tin? the item says 20 japanese sense in a tin. mine came in a crumpled box.
Answer: Check your order you may have mistakenly picked the box by mistake, if not I'd contact the buyer because if you paid for the tin then you should have gotten the tin. The tin is better.

Answer: I never bought this product. I did buy the chamomile one and it did come in a tin.

Product reviews of Harney & Sons Citron Green Tea, 20 Sachets, White
C. M. : Orange tastes old, bitter
Full disclosure, I am a super-taster. However, I do typically like green tea without sweetener, because I don't eat sugar. The green tea itself is mild and comes through nicely, but the orange in the tea has a sort of "old" or slightly bitter character to it, almost as if the orange peel was overcooked in the dehydrator before being added to the tea. Because of this, I still have a lingering, overextracted orange oil taste in my mouth 10 minutes after I stopped drinking the tea. I followed the steeping instructions exactly (3 minutes) and not a second more. Typically, I like my green tea a little stronger, but I don't think I'll be trying that with this tea. Disappointed, because this is one of the only citron green teas out there.
Colorado88 : Tasty Splurge
These tea bags are a little pricey but they are wonderful. There is a superior taste and freshness compared to the supermarket brands (I tried them back to back to see if I could taste the difference and there definitely was a positive difference). If you want some great tea and can splurge I would recommend this brand. It comes in the pretty sachets, large flower leaves inside and the tin keeps them fresh. It would make for a nice gift. Once the tea was gone I recycled the tin and put other loose leaf tea that came in a bag.
Francine Weistrop : Tea fine. Packaging outrageous.
Reviewing the tea is irrelevant. It’s one of my favorites and I buy it often.
The packaging is outrageous.
I had read reviews that said the boxes came in a mailing envelope, but I assumed that all the criticisms would have resulted in a change.
I was wrong. Two boxes came in a mailing envelope, one quite dented, as could be expected.
I will purchase this elsewhere unless I start reading reviews that state that the packaging has changed.
TEC : Not authentic
I would say after all the positive reviews I read I was a little disappointed in this product, one thing that I have gotten in the habit of doing is drinking chamomile tea at night to relax me as I don't sleep well and do not want to take medicine. The package in the can is very nice but the flavor is weak and it is not strong enough. So far the ones that seem to work the best is traditional medicine with lavender and chamomile flavor, strong taste and I fall asleep pretty quick,
Alexandriabeth : Delicate, beautiful and such a treat
Holy moly - this tea is sooo luxurious. Not only is the tin box gorgeous, but the flavor is deliciously floral and soothing. I’ve never had jasmine tea before this and now I’m afraid I’ve absolutely spoiled my future self with tea. I guess I’ll just have to stick with this brand forever!
Consumer Doc : Great Tea With A Few Caveats
We discovered Harney & Sons teas some years ago when my discriminating epicurean son became fascinated with their outstanding
Pomegranate Oolong Tea served at a favorite steak house of ours. Since then, we have expanded our tea-drinking repertoire to 6 different Harney & Sons varieties. This H&S Chamomile Herbal Tea was the fourth in our cue to try. Here is my assessment:
PROS:
1. A classic chamomile light tea using Egyptian whole flower heads (20 triangular-shaped nylon sachets-0.9 oz net wgt).
2. Has light notes of apple when steeped according to manufacturer recommendations.
3. Convenient sachet bag maintains its integrity and will not break.
4. Excellent, receptive and friendly customer service and support by this small family-owned company located in Millerton, NY
CONS:
1. Product Freshness: The upscale and attractive tins are nice; however, they are not the best way to preserve the product to insure product integrity. A narrow piece of tape seals the lid lip to the can and is easily compromised in mail-order transit. Since the tea is not nitrogen-
flushed or hermetically sealed to prevent oxygen from penetrating the product, it is not unreasonable to anticipate that the product may
sometimes not arrive as fresh as the manufacturer had intended.
2. Sachet Material: Non-Biodegradable Nylon. This fine tea deserves and demands an appropriate natural bag material. This
particular tea variety also gets slimy when the bag is removed or squeezed from the cup.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Like most Harney and Sons teas, this is another fine product which could benefit from a few product design changes cited above.
PLEASE NOTE: The current Amazon website product description (as of 10.2.2015) has an inaccurate product description for the ingredients of
this product. This product (Herbal Chamomile) DOES NOT contain lavender and corn flowers. Only H&S' "Blue & Yellow" Tea has this.
2. Production Date Code Decipher: You may find two (2) metrics for determining the freshness of the can you receive from Harney & Sons:
(Please see my photos in this review to assist you). One may be a white "Best By"sticker on the rear of the tin. (Mine was: Best By 06/2016). The second freshness indicator is a Julian-based date production code stamped in black on the bottom of each can. For example, my can has: "15091"-This means that the tea was prepped for sale on the 91st calendar day (091) of 2015 (15). This tea was produced on Wednesday,
April 1st, 2015.
2. Use one (1) sachet for each 8-12 oz. cup. Use 180 degree F water. Allow boiling water to sit for a minute or two. Steep for at least 3 minutes to release the full flavor of each sachet.
3. Store this tea in an air-tight Ziplock bag upon opening to retain aroma within the tin in a dry environment away from light and heat.
You can also store the tea in an air-tight glass apothecary-style canister. Keep the tea in a dry, dark and light-free environment.
4. Ideal with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a drop of honey to your taste! Enjoy.
brh : Very pleasing, nicely balanced
I hadn't had Harney & Sons tea in quite a while, but had once thought of it as a bit of a premium product. The tins are nice, and when holiday time came around, I thought on a whim that I would get some tea for gifts for family. I also ordered a tin for myself, the 'Paris,' which was just amazingly bad. Disgusting. So then I was a bit apprehensive about my gift choices, but my family isn't quite so picky as I so I stuck with it. My mother got the Earl Grey, and the wonderful thing about buying my mother tea is that I always end up getting to sample it. Now, she and I both love Earl Grey, and as such have had quite a few. Some are very aggressive on the bergamot, some taste very artificial or astringent. The Harney & Sons Earl Grey was a very nice surprise after my awful experience with the 'Paris.' Fragrant and aromatic, wonderfully balanced hints of bergamot that don't attempt to drown out the tea itself. Knocking a star because I do think you can do better for the price, personally I would prefer which (at the time of this writing at least) is 41c/bag vs. the 40c/bag of the Harney & Sons, and worth more than that extra penny. comes in at 26c/bag, and I consider it preferable to the Harney & Sons as well.
Dorothee Grall : Tasty and smooth
Delicious, strong flavor and aroma. I'm skeptical about vanilla and caramel flavors in tea... I usually go for natural flavors like Jasmine or fruit... but this is very good.
Another thing I worry about with flavored teas is bitterness and this tea has none.
I will purchase again, it's very tasty!
B : very mediocre
There's nothing special about this tea at all, and it tastes exactly like almost all other English Breakfast tea out there. Because this stuff costs more than average, I'd go with another brand instead.
If this were higher quality, I'd be able to justify paying more. But it's not.
J. Perry : (Citron Green = Bad) (Paris = Great)
UPDATE: I have now also tried their Paris black tea, but Amazon won’t let me leave a separate review. I would give the Paris 5-stars and the Citron Green 2-stars, which I’ll average up to 4-stars. Unlike the Citron Green, this Paris blend is absolutely delicious unsweetened. You can taste every single separate component of the blend and they harmonize together perfectly for a rustic, slightly sweet taste with absolutely no bitterness. I’m typically a green tea drinker because I’ve never found a black tea I really love, but this one could turn me haha.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I won’t be buying the Citron Green again as I found it overly “brisk” (tea code for bitter lol) compared to almost every other green tea I’ve tried. I always drink every tea/infusion without sweetener, but this one absolutely required a little sweetener for me. Bad sign.
DKM : Aromatic and delish.
Great tea. Loved this tea. The scent of the jasmine lures you in. The taste of this tea is better than many others at a higher price point. There is a subtle nutty taste that the green tea provides while my nose is happily filled with that aromatic jasmine that makes you want to drink it all day long.
RenataE : Wonderful flavor and aroma.
This smells amazing and my husband really likes it. I'm not much of a tea drinker, but I did taste it and found it pleasant. The pretty tin is a real plus. I've purchased it 3 times, and my husband is always delighted when I do. He is a straight black coffee drinker, no frills, no fancy latte or anything, so this is a product even those with simple tastes will enjoy.
SurrealChereal : Nope
I got a cool tin, and the way the tea is packaged and the woven bags each serving is in, is awesome.I've tried to like this tea, I really have. While the description says fruity black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors, and a hint of lemony Bergamot, I taste a gross mixture of vanilla and florals with a cloying fragrance more like a sledgehammer pow of bergamot. I love Earl Grey tea, but this stuff is overpowering and nauseating. The bergamot doesn't balance out the vanilla. I've been trying to use it all, but today the smell of it gave me a stomach ache. At least I got a cool tin.
I'm not giving up on the company, but I guess I'm more of a Lapsang souchong kind of tea drinker.
RenataE : Wonderful flavor and aroma.

LY : tasted moldy
I am so disappointed. The first few sachets were ok but as I got to the bottom of the container (last 5), they tasted like mold. I checked my water thinking it was the problem, nope water is fine. I don't know if they sit around for a long time in a warehouse but I am going to be ordering directly from harney and sons website and see if that makes a difference with freshness.
WW : Nope. Don’t even bother trying any of it.
Plain No for me. Not good enough, not good enough at this premium price. Huge disappointment. Yet to try the earl grey but I won’t bet my life on it. Where are the good black teas in the States?!?!? Seriously. I want those beautifully flavored full-bodied French black tea than these ridiculously priced crappy bland English black tea ... sad for me.
Edit: don’t bother even trying anything from this company. The earl grey was bland with faint scent of bergamot. How can the black tea be bitter but not strong? Don’t know how they achieve that. I’m I guess a tea snob. If you are too, try the tea from Boulder Tea Company or Steve Smith Teamaker. Their teas are truly amazing. Boulder Tea’s Lady Grey’s Garden is heavenly. I forgot about I could order online and they ship with small fee - totally worth it. Try that and thank me for NOT bothering with this tea brand.
Katia S. : Smells great, tastes great
I ordered because pretty much everyone who likes the holiday tea, said this one was their favorite. I dont even know where the box of holiday tea bags came from, but it must be old because they dont even offer tea bags anymore it's all sachets, but I really enjoyed it, I wanted to get more, but saw everyone was saying there is a new formula and it's horrible, so I decided to try Paris instead.
It smells amazing. Tastes great. I'm happy with my purchase.
The tin came damaged, which is what I've been seeing alot of complaints about as well, so was disappointed with that, but it's a small inconvenience, since the product was still good.
Jake : Not as good as expected
I thought this would be a great treat based on reviews and the brand's reputation but this was a disappointment.
The only plus point is the tin and packaging.
Otherwise, the same flavor at a much lower price can be be found here: http://amazon.com/gp/product/B006S4Y5B2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ElyLibrarySec @AudiobookObsession : Delicious
I actually found out about this tea while reading a book. The author included this tea into the story and I just had to check it out. This was a good choice. I actually add in some lemonade since I love tea with lemon and sugar. By adding in the lemonade, I can control both. Will certainly buy again. Yum!
Consumer Doc : A Connoisseurs Tea But Proper Infusion Is The Key!
I love to unwind with a great cup of fresh tea and recently discovered these teas from Harney & Sons (H&S). What a pleasant surprise and so many interesting varieties to sample from. If you love authentic Jasmine tea as I do, you will really appreciate this beautiful tea along with the convenience of ready to use sachets. However, the best way to completely enjoy the richness of this fine quality tea is to purchase this tea loose and use with an infuser for the best tea journey. Here's why:
PROS:
1. An excellent medium-graded floral essence tea.
2. Tea is imported from Fujian Province, China and pearls are hand-rolled in Fuan, China. (Manufacturer claim)
3. Lightly-caffeinated (30-50 MG) per 8 oz. cup.
4. Certified Kosher
5. Excellent US manufacturer with receptive and consistent customer support and communication located in Millerton, NY.
CONS:
1. Although convenient for most of us, fine teas should ideally be purchased loose and used with an infuser to obtain the maximum aroma.
The drawback here is H&S' use of a synthetic polyester sachet which limits and restricts the opening of the Jasmine blossoms in the sachet.
These Jasmine "pearls" should be permitted to completely open in order to release the intensity of the flavor and aroma.
2. Sachets should be individually wrapped and sealed to retain their full flavor. The decorative tin, while attractive, is not hermetically sealed and the bags are packed loose in the metal tin.
3. Sachets are not bio-degradable or eco-compliant.
4. Overpriced @ $12 for 1.4 oz. of tea. While an excellent tea, you can ditch the unnecessary tin and visit any good Chinese or Japanese market and discover equal caliber Jasmine blossom pearl tea for half the price. Then store the tea in an air-tight container away from heat, light and moisture.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Consider purchasing this fine tea loose (bulk) and purchase a good-quality infuser for maximum aroma, flavor. If you do not appreciate floral-essence or floral scented teas, you may not like this type of tea.
2. Steep in 180-190 degree F water for at least 5 minutes to extract the full aroma of this tea in these sachets.
3. Consider opening the sachets to allow the pearls to fully expand to release full aroma and bouquet.
For example, my can has: "15104"-This means that the tea was prepped for sale on the 104th calendar day (104) of 2015 (15). This tea was produced on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015.
Hope this helps and Enjoy in Good Health!
Lawrence : Great tea!
I wouldn’t call my self an expert in tea even though I drink a lot of tea, but the Paris tea from Harney& sons has met my expectation how tea should taste like. As soon as I opened the tinned can, a romantic fragrance hit my nose. It have a seductively smell of floral aromatic, and when you taste it, there is a mild hint of sweetness. Since this is my first time try the tea, I will update it again after a few weeks to see how long these fragments and flavor hold up after time.
J. Revell : so this was not a good choice for me
Alright, so, I had no idea it was possible, but this Citron Green Tea actually has high Caffeine content and is higher on the package than is listed on Amazon. I'm Caffeine sensitive, so this was not a good choice for me. I am, afterall, drinking Tea instead of Coffee for this reason. The other thing to note is that on the package it states will make two cups of tea. I tried this and did not find it to be accurate. The flavor is already very light and delicate as it is. The second cup has almost no flavor at all. Nice looking Tin and seemingly good quality leaves (though I'm no tea expert) but looks much better than the "shake" they put in other cheaper tea bags.
Kindle Customer : Superbly flavored tea.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I'd never had any teas from this company before, but this tea succeeds on all levels. It smells delicious just in the box, brews up a rich red-brown, and tastes great plain, with sweetener, and with cream and sugar. It stands up to milk/cream very nicely, where other teas turn into "colored water" when put up against such robust additives. It also re-steeps pretty well and lingers pleasantly on the tongue long after the cup's empty. It tastes rich and nuanced in flavor, with enough vanilla to sweeten it and balance out the citrus notes, which are pronounced without being perfumey. If you've ever smelled panettone cake or King Arthur Flour's "Fiori di Sicilia" flavoring, this is very similar. I've seen comparisons to Earl Grey but this isn't anywhere close to Earl Grey in flavor or scent.
I mis-read the info about this tea and was expecting a box of loose tea, which this is not; it's 20 pyramid-shaped teabags in a surprisingly large tin for that number of bags. But given the low price of the product and the re-steeping value of the teabags, I still am pleased with my purchase. Next time I will buy the loose tea to get more value for the money and get to enjoy it longer. I can already tell this is going to become one of my favorites.
Jess : Delicious tea, kind of expensive, though
I was recommended Harney & Sons tea by a friend. I'm East Indian, so I know my tea. Everyone wants the recipe for my "mom's chai", which is just chai. I guess her secret ingredient is not being a morning person. LOL. Anyway, I generally abhor fruity teas, or ayurvedic-white-washed-just-breathe copy cats. My tea should have a purpose and it should taste like tea, not juice. This tea is excellent. Above and beyond your typical Earl Grey or English or Irish breakfast. Tastes great with or with out the milk and sugar, but I like it with. The tin it comes in is beautiful. My only qualm is it's kind of expensive, and more like a treat to me. I love the tea, but I don't love it *that* much, and can just as easily buy a wholesale box of Lipton. I'm a material girl, but it depends on context. Is Harney & Sons great? Absolutely. Is it worth me becoming a regular customer, and shelling out 8-10 dollars for only twenty bags, when I get three boxes of Lipton for less? Nope. And there's no buy in bulk option, as far as I know.
brh : Very pleasing, nicely balanced
Knocking a star because I do think you can do better for the price, personally I would prefer which (at the time of this writing at least) is 41c/bag vs. the 40c/bag of the Harney & Sons, and worth more than that extra penny. comes in at 26c/bag, and I consider it preferable to the Harney & Sons as well.
ilylily : very lovely packaging, not for tea lovers
h&s has attractive packaging and that's essential what you pay for. this tea was very disappointing. the tea bag is made of a very thick material, so the tea stays buoyant and bouncy above the water which leads to improper steeping. loose tea or a common tea bag tends to sit right under the surface of the water. the h&s tea bag material was also so thick that it didnt infuse properly, and the taste was incredibly mild. the tea bags are also loose, and not wrapped in paper which i did not like, as the aluminum packaging is not air tight, which compromises the tea. i think if you cut the bags open and have it as loose tea it might be better, but then you're just paying way too much for loose chamomile when you can go to a local store and get a 20 pack of chamomile for less than 2 dollars.
B : very mediocre
There's nothing special about this tea at all, and it tastes exactly like almost all other English Breakfast tea out there. Because this stuff costs more than average, I'd go with another brand instead.
If this were higher quality, I'd be able to justify paying more. But it's not.
Summer D. : This will be your favorite tea!
This tea is so delicious and relaxing. My husband and I enjoy this tea as a wind down for the day. It’s the kind of tea you can sit and drink with loved ones! The flavor is lightly floral but not so much so that it’s soapy. It’s got the perfect amount of earthy notes without tasting bitter or like dirt! It’s a smooth flavor where the tea blends together perfectly
ice cube : Sadly, completely underwhelmed by lack of taste
I ordered "Paris" tea based on all the great reviews and because I usually have 10-15 tea varieties on hand. After 5 cups, I have to say that the tea smells fragrant, but tastes like mildly vanilla-flavored hot water.
I'm not usually picky, but there's not enough tea taste to even say whether I like it or not. There's very little tea in each sachet, and I can't imagine using fewer than 2 bags to try to make drinking this an enjoyable experience. If you're into flavored water or want to put teabag sachets to perfume up your clothes, then this tea may be for you.

BadAndy : Smells nice, tastes weak!
There's something about Jasmine tea that I love so much. The floral fragrance is calming and refreshing, yet doesn't overpower like some floral teas. But what I like most about Jasmine tea is the slight punch it has. That slight bitterness or bite that feels like it's cleansing your body on its way down to your stomach. The bitterness isn't overpowering either, but strong enough where you feel like it's doing its thing. The combination of the fragrance and the feeling of cleansing as you sip on Jasmine tea is so soothing and relaxing.
Now that you know what I personally expect from this tea, here's what I think about this tea. I purchased this particular tea solely based on reviews and the fact that it was dragon pearls (as I've heard that pearls is what most folks prefer for stronger flavor and frangrance). I also decided on this particular item because the dragon pearls were individually wrapped in a sachet. Usually they're just loose dragon pearls and you have to use your own filter. Since I'm lazy, I wanted convenience. This fit the bill. Or so I thought...
On first sniff I thought, man that smells nice. Then I took my first sip... Very weak Jasmine flavor. I figured I'd let it steep for a while. Still weak! Almost like Korean corn barley tea. It was smooth. I don't drink Jasmine tea because it's smooth. Don't get me wrong, I know some folks like their Jasmine/Green tea combo, which is fine, but I'm looking strictly for a Jasmine tea. I don't need the smoothness of Green tea. In fact, I've had other Jasmine/Green teas that had more of a Jasmine punch to it than this weak tea. That's too bad because it smelled so nice. :(
Marta : Impressive!!!!
So I’m in Texas and my son just started his second year of college in Rhode Island. Having been home in the 95+*F heat over the summer and then going back to school this month to the 50-60*F weather, caused him discomfort in his throat and so he decided to try some chamomile tea for it. Being of Mexican descent, I’ve always liked chamomile but I don’t have it on a regular basis nor have my kids since they were babies when I'd give them a little for colic. Once they got older, they refused to drink it. Well, back to my 19 yr old, he went to the cafeteria on campus and actually discovered that he liked chamomile. I ordered him some honey to keep in his dorm as well. So he asked if I could order him some tea too since his dorm has a mini kitchen with a stove and his roommates have a kettle. I selected this particular tea because I liked that he’d have to only use 1 bag for 12oz that he can fit in his travel mug. Well....he received it yesterday and right away made himself a mug full. He texted me because he was so surprised at how much better this tea is than the packets from the cafeteria! He’s still in disbelief today at how much he likes it and told me to order more for myself but to pay for it from his account because he wanted to gift it to me, lol. I originally ordered him 3 tins, so 60 bags and he’s afraid it won’t last him once his roommates try it. These guys are going to have to start a little Harney & Sons Chamomile Tea Tin fund! It’s a big deal when my son says something is really good because he’s so not easy to impress. So this tea must be pretty darn fine! I can’t wait to get my own tin tomorrow to try it!
Kat : What are these bags made of?
While the tea itself is about as good as you'll get from a can, the tea bags are nothing short of awful.
I am not sure what they are made of, but it's not paper or cotton or anything natural. It's strong and shiny and oh no, I do not want it in my teacup. The bags' fiber content should be listed along with the ingredients since they are brewing along with the tea. I emptied and tossed each bag; kept the tea in a jar. Will not purchase again.
Melissa A Shelby : Deceptive Advertising
NOT as pictured. Suppose to be in a tim as advertised and instead I get a beat up box? I purchased this specially to use in a tea tin rack I ordered directly from Harney and Sons. Not cool at all!!
Terr Bear : Used to be Great!
This used to be my go to tea. Wonderful cinnamon aroma and flavor mixed w orange peel and other spices which was in a white container w gold lettering. WHAT happened??? The last 3 containers, that arrived from Amazon are definitely Not the same tea. The latest is in an off white creamy colored tin and I cannot begin to describe the aroma. To my nose it is sickening. I tried to send back the first container but Amazon did not want it back and replaced it with the same unappealing tea. I skipped my auto ship the second month hoping this would give Amazon enough time to figure out what happened to the original tea. I received another can today and it is the same thing I received back in May. Now, I have cancelled my auto ship and lament the passing of my favorite go to tea. Horrible decision on someones part to change the recipe.
Pam Householder : Finally, a consistently good tea--bye-bye coffee!
I wasn't sure if this tea would be any better than the powdery stuff you get in regular paper tea bags--but, I was very pleased to find out it is much better. Something about chopped leaves and buds in an organza pouch that just really makes a better tea--no oily, scrape-the-gunk-off-the-inside-of-the-pot taste to Harney and Sons Earl Grey sachets; I've purchased several times now and pray they don't change a thing!
Alexandria Gross : This tea is truly a decadent experience...
Harney & Son’s Earl Grey Supreme Tea is so many things... delicious being one. The body of this Earl Grey is the best I’ve had. Dash of sweet creamer and you have yourself one of the most relaxing, fulfilling, satisfying drinks of your day. I love to have a few cups in the evening wrapped in a blanket next to my dog. Each sip feels like it is filling a void I did not know I even had that day and truly each sip gives a me a bit of peace. I highly recommend this tea... and I also recommend adding a bit of flavored creamer, a blanket, a fire, a dog/cat/or other animal, and a good 30 minutes to yourself to decompress and drink this delicious gift from the earth.

David L : Citron Green lacking citrus...
I tried the Citron Green Tea at a hotel (single wrap tea bag) and really liked it so I decided to order a tin. I'm a bit disappointed as it doesn't taste the same. There's no citrus flavor at all. It just takes like a generic green tea. I'm sipping it right now. I'm pretty sure this is just green tea. No aroma. Bad batch? Nice tin i though. Will not order again.
CU2MRO : Delicious, QUALITY, Jasmine tea!
If you enjoy Jasmine tea then you'll love this tea in their neat little durable tea bags that withstand a direct hit of piping hot boiling water...just let the tea sit for a minutes longer than normal for a fun jasmine flavor. I use 2 bags in my mug which is about 20 oz's. The tin the tea is in a slick marketing piece as I doubt many people toss it away-I sure do not. I already have several hard at work holding misc. junk and another being stuffed w/ gas receipts! I am very impressed with the quality of the various teas this company offers and i recommend the larger tins for your favorite flavors if they are offered- like Earl Grey! I love Teavana but I have to say I have NOT had any since these tins arrived!

Jeni : Just smelling it made me happy and it tastes as good as it smells
This tea is DELICIOUS!!! Just smelling it made me happy and it tastes as good as it smells! Wow! It is indeed very floral, but magically so. I sort of feel like Mary Poppins is serving me a cup of tea, or like Arthur feels about the tea the mice give him before they saw off his head in Hitchhiker's guide. This is the tea your fictional mother makes you when you come home crying so hard she can't understand you and says she'll "fix you a nice spot of tea, dear."
Seriously though, this tea is magical and amazing and I am so glad I listened to the reviews and bought it!!!

I actually found out about this tea while reading a book. The author included this tea into the story and I just had to check it out. This was a good choice. I actually add in some lemonade since I love tea with lemon and sugar. By adding in the lemonade, I can control both. Will certainly buy again. Yum!
Nina : FAVE TEA!
I am a tea lover! So I was excited to try this brand and flavor. I was not disappointed at all. What a delicious and pleasant tasting tea! It's a black tea for sure with an underlying sweet and creamy flavor that is light and refreshing. I've been having this once a day since I purchased it and already ordered another one! I may try the other one in the darker packaging to see if there is a difference. For me, the perfect steep time is no more than two minutes. Anymore than that, the flavor becomes a tad bitter. I've tried this cold and it was even more refreshing!
